On a Friday, Zoe Richards went to the library on a sunny day with clear air. She was approached by a young girl who claimed to be lost, asking after her father. The father eventually came, concerned about her, and kidnapped Richards. She tied Richards to a chair and put a pink blindfold on her, dousing her in liquid and setting her on fire. This resulted in her face becoming scarred, something Richards' sister believed the world could not accept her for. She blamed herself for the kidnapping even after she was freed, rarely talking about it or leaving the house. After years of therapy, she finally opened up about it to others. She joined online support groups, that were helpful, although she remained unable to be unafraid of something happening again.[1]

Richards prepares to set her house on fire
Aubree Richards protected Richards in any way she could, often having her hide when people came, out of the belief that the world could not accept her for her scars. This happened when Gabriella Rosetti, Ana Helstrom, and Daimon Helstrom visited their new home. Aubree at first turned them away, but once she was sure Richards had hidden, she talked to them about Richards' past. However, Ana could still sense Richards' presence. Richards and Aubree were approached by a college student, who offered revenge against Ana for helping to kidnap Richards, and they accepted the deal.

That night, Aubree went out, and Richards went downstairs and began pouring gasoline on the ground, when she was found by Gabriella Rosetti, demanded to know where Richards was. Richards revealed her true identity to Rosetti, demanding to know where Aubree was. She threatened to set the house on fire, and explained to Rosetti that Aubree impersonated her from the belief that the world could not accept her scarred face. She explained that when Ana Helstrom arrived at their house earlier, she recognized her as the young girl who had assisted in her kidnapping. Richards set the room on fire, and Daimon Helstrom rushed downstairs to help Rosetti. Although Richards wanted to die, Helstrom and Rosetti convinced her to leave with them, and the three managed to escape. Richards explained the deal they made with Magoth,[1]
