The Zodiac first came into the possession of the Strategic Scientific Reserve when Peggy Carter single-handedly recovered it from a band of criminals in New York City.[1]
S.H.I.E.L.D.[]
S.H.I.E.L.D. later would label the Zodiac as having been destroyed in order to keep unfriendly factions from seeking it out.
In 2014, a terrorist cell run by Baker discovered that the Zodiac still existed and stole it from S.H.I.E.L.D. with the intention of launching a terrorist strike on Willis Tower in Chicago. The terrorists were thwarted by the STRIKE team consisting of Captain America, Black Widow and Brock Rumlow, and the Zodiac was returned to S.H.I.E.L.D. custody.[2]
