Biography[]
Prisoner[]
Imprisoned[]
Yon-Rogg was a known criminal and hacker on Xandar throughout the five years that the Planetary Shield had locked everyone in. One time, he breached high-end security on Xandar, causing Nova Corpsman Nebula to find him and arrest Yon-Rogg. He then served as a prisoner at the Xandarian Correctional Facility.[1]
A Deal[]
While imprisoned, Yon-Rogg recieved a message from Nova Prime who suspected Nebula would arrive in need of help. Rael had Yon-Rogg obtain the source codes to the Planetary Shield and the Xandarian Mainframe Core. Later, Rael's prediction came true as Nebula arrived. She barely talked to Yon-Rogg and instead shot the security system, letting Yon-Rogg free.
They then ran to the recreational area where they became surrounded by robots. Yon-Rogg remarked about the flaw in Nebula's plan, but she had it covered as she used a tablet to open the prisoners' cages, starting a riot. The duo then escaped through the commotion. While in Nebula's vehicle, Yon-Rogg immediately tried to use the evacuation system, but Nebula told him she already disabled it, annoying Yon-Rogg.[1]
Betraying Nebula[]
The duo entered the facility holding the Xandarian Mainframe Core and went into the vents to get to the core. Yon-Rogg slid down the cable with Nebula behind him. However, Yon-Rogg saw exposed wire ahead and quickly halted himself, telling Nebula the problem. The two broke through the wall and came out to find the core up ahead. Yon-Rogg approached the lock, telling it to talk to him prompting Nebula to make a sarcastic remark as it was an electrical door so he could not here any clicks to unlock. Yon-Rogg shushed her, claiming he was doing that just to shut her up.
As Yon-Rogg finished, an alarm went off saying the core was overheating. Nebula grew annoyed as water started flooding the area. The duo swam down to a gate and opened it, letting them get inside the room and to the exposed core where the water started draining. He looked up in awe at the core and remarked the simple technicallity of it. Nebula shut him up by saying he did his part and it was her turn. She accessed the core and connected the wires to her head in order to find the codes.
Nebula finally found them and proceeded to start to delete them. However, Yon-Rogg came from behind and stuck a flash drive in her head, causing her circuits to fry. He then downloaded the codes for Irani Rael. He told Nebula she had gone soft and that she did not need to worry about Xandar as Ronan the Accuser had big plans for it. Yon-Rogg then swam away, leaving Nebula to try to escape through the room that was once again flooded.
Yon-Rogg made it outside where he met with Irani Rael was waiting. He gave Rael the codes as Nebula fell to their feet, having escaped through the vents. Yon-Rogg watched as Rael explained her plan to Nebula. He then walked away to the Star Blaster as Rael ordered the Nova Corps to kill Nebula.[1]
An Abrupt Ending[]
Back at the Nova Corps Headquarters, Yon-Rogg watched as Irani Rael opened up the Planetary Shield for Ronan the Accuser to get through. Suddenly, Nebula arrived with a team as well as donning the Yaka Arrow Controller. Yon-Rogg pointed his gun at the enemy in a stand off. Rael said it was too late, but suddenly the shield started closing in, destroying the Dark Aster and Ronan. Yon-Rogg remarked that the ships were going down.
Nebula spoke up, saying she figured it was a setup and put a spin on the codes. Angry, Rael walked away, ordering Yon-Rogg and the Nova Corps to kill everyone. Yon-Rogg fired at the group, but he and the forces were soon outmatched. Yon-Rogg found himself crawling on the floor along with Garthan Saal until they were approached by Korg, who asked which one of them was the bad guy. The two chuckled and Yon-Rogg said it was Saal. Korg then picked them both up and slammed them repeatedly together and into the ground, killing Yon-Rogg.[1]

Yon-Rogg's early job as a criminal and hacker demonstrates his razor-sharp intellect and command of complicated systems. His actions, such as breaking Xandar's security and utilizing his technological talents to aid Irani Rael, demonstrate a thorough awareness of security measures and his ability to exploit them to his advantage. For instance, his understanding of Xandar's encryption algorithms and his skill in bypassing them is a testament to his technical prowess.
Yon-Rogg's motivations are not fueled by loyalty or justice, but by his own self-interest. His opportunistic nature, as seen in his readiness to betray Nebula and align with Rael to gain the source codes for his own benefit, leaves the audience in suspense, wondering about his next cunning move.
Yon-Rogg's encounters with Nebula are characterized by snark and dismissal. He mocks her plan and is annoyed by her criticism, showing a lack of respect and a tendency to disregard others. It's obvious when he shushes her and makes sarcastic comments about the technical aspects of their mission.
