- "What's that on your head?"
"That is a device for controlling a flying arrow." - ―Kevin Bacon and Kraglin Obfonteri[src]
The Yaka Arrow Controller is a prosthetic metal piece on the top of the head of Yondu Udonta that he uses to control the Yaka Arrow.
History[]
First Fin[]
Yondu Udonta and Kraglin Obfonteri traveled to Xandar to meet Broker. While admiring some strange artifacts that Broker had for sale, he made his true intentions known quickly using his Fin to draw his Yaka Arrow and aim it at the Broker's head demanding to know who the Broker intended to sell the Orb to.
As Udonta planned to kill Quill because of his betrayal with the Orb, he used his arrow controller once more and aimed his arrow at Quill's throat and prepared to execute him, but when Quill convinced him that it was possible to steal the Orb from Ronan the Accuser with the insider knowledge provided by Gamora, they decided to work together.[3]
Battle of Xandar[]
Yondu Udonta survived the crash and got out of his wrecked ship when he turned around and saw several Sakaarans surrounding him and ordered him to command his men to attack the Nova Corps. Instead of obeying, Udonta calmly opened his jacket without a word and whistled; as the Sakaarans stood momentarily confused, he used his fin to control his arrow to single-handedly kill every Sakaaran in front of him, even causing one of their ships to crash and explode.[3]
Attack on Berhert[]
After Ayesha hired the Ravagers to hunt down the Guardians of the Galaxy, Yondu Udonta and his clan were sent to Berhert to find them. However, after suffering through Rocket's numerous traps and managing to surround him, the Ravagers became divided over Yondu suggesting sparing Peter Quill. As the arguments escalated, a recently-escaped Nebula shot Yondu's controller, temporarily disabling him.[1]
Prototype Fin[]
Escape from the Eclector[]
- "A prototype fin, the thing I wore in my head."
- ―Yondu Udonta to Groot[src]
Having developed a second controller, much larger and resembling an aquatic creature's fin, Yondu Udonta eventually used it, with the help of Rocket and Groot, to escape captivity and kill the Ravager mutineers. He then used the controller during the Battle on Ego's Planet.[1]
Used by Kraglin Obfonteri[]
Passed Down[]
Following Yondu Udonta's passing, Kraglin Obfonteri came into possession of a new controller.[4] While using it, he accidentally lodged an arrow in Drax the Destroyer.[5]
Continued Usage[]
- "I ain't quite got the hang of it yet."
- ―Kraglin Obfonteri to Kevin Bacon[src]
Obfonteri continued to wear the controller, wearing it in 2023 during the Battle of Earth[6] and the following year as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.[7] However, in 2025, Obfonteri revealed he hadn't managed the controller to perfection yet.[2]
Continuing with his training, Obfonteri tried to control the yaka arrow in a shooting test, shooting Nebula accidentally. When Adam Warlock invaded Knowhere, Obfonteri used the controller to attempt to attack Adam to no avail, remaining hidden. During the attack by the High Evolutionary's creatures, Obfonteri, after seeing a vision of Yondu Udonta, finally wielded the arrow correctly, slaying several of his enemies. Obfonteri, with his learned experience, continued to use the controller during his battles with the new Guardians of the Galaxy.[8]

Trivia[]
- In the comics, the Centaurians have a natural crest, or Tahlei, which is supported by a bone structure. Yondu Udonta's second fin, featured in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, was created to resemble the one that he has in the comics.
