Xu Wenwu (Mandarin: 徐文武) is a legendary warrior who discovered a set of mythical rings and joined forces with the exiled Asgardian goddess Hela.
Biography[]
Meeting Hela[]
Xu encounters Hela
Xu Wenwu discovered a crown that had fell from the sky. Much like his rings, Xu understood this item was not from Earth. They were then approached by Hela, who ordered her crown be brought to her. Xu told Hela that only he gave orders to his soldiers, but Hela was not intimidated.
Xu ordered his men to take Hela, but she fought them all off with great skill. Xu witnessed Hela's fighting ability and was impressed by her, recognizing that she was also not of Earth. Xu restrained Hela with his rings and forced her to her knees. Hela claimed that if she had her crown, he would be kneeling, so Xu decided to let Hela claim it. Hela attempted to lift the crown but was unsuccessful. One of Xu's soldiers asked if they should execute Hela, but he decided to capture her and bring her back to the Ten Rings Headquarters.[1]
Proposing an Alliance[]

Xu had Hela brought to his room, where he intended to have dinner with her, having picked out a dress for her to wear, too. Hela complied and when she got changed Xu felt an attraction towards her. Hela sat down and Xu began to explain his desire for them to form an alliance with her. Hela claimed that like her father, Xu would also only come to see her as a monster, but Xu assured her her wouldn't.

Xu proceeded to explain that he used the rings to protect his people from dangerous threats. Hela asked if Xu viewed her as a dangerous threat, so he took to opportunity to comfort Hela by holding her hand and telling her that he did not fear the fight in her. Hela moved in upon Xu's gesture and he went to kiss her. But, Hela instead tricked Xu and slammed his head against the table multiple times. She attempted to steal his rings but failed, so she escaped. Xu was found by his men, who he told that he wanted Hela alive.[1]
Battle for the Ten Rings[]
Xu is reunited with Hela
The Ten Rings Headquarters were attacked when Odin arrived on Earth to take Xu's rings. Xu fought against Odin's army alongside his soldiers, but the Asgardians proved too strong so Xu ordered his men to retreat while he remained fighting. Xu was reunited with Hela and the two of them fought together.

Odin then confronted the two, and when Hela refused to stand by his side, they prepared to fight. Hela informed Xu that they needed to seperate Odin from Gungnir, which Odin used to blast the two. Xu protected them with the rings, and they then charged at Odin, attempting to disarm him. After Xu landed a powerful hit against Odin, Hela attempted to show him mercy, but he attacked her, and knocked Xu against a wall. However, Hela reclaimed her power and defeated Odin. Xu was in awe of Hela's new appearance, gestured a sign of respect towards her.[1]

With Hela now ruling Asgard, Xu combined her forces with the Ten Rings to work together in effort to liberate the Nine Realms. This campaign lasted many years, and once they freed the Nine Realms, they moved onto freeing the rest of the universe, including stopping Thanos from invading Zen-Whoberi.[1]
