"They wanted me to be part of the team, but I wouldn't. Told them they all looked fuckin' ridiculous."
Logan to Laura[src]

The X-Men were a team of mutants who were massacred by humans while Wolverine was away from the X-Mansion.

History[]

Massacre[]

"And then one day while I was off on my own, the humans came and went mutant hunting."
"I can guess the rest."
"No, no, let me say it, I... I need to say it. By the time I stumbled home, shit-faced from the bar, it was too late. They were dead, every... This suit's all I've got to remind me of... who they were. And what I did."
Logan and Laura[src]

One day, while Wolverine was at a bar, a human mob with anti-mutant sentiments attacked the X-Mansion and the team was subsequently slaughtered one by one in a massacre. By the time Wolverine returned to the X-Mansion in a drunken state, they were all dead.[1]

Legacy[]

The death of the X-Men sent Wolverine into a state of uncontrolled rage and he orchestrated an immense slaughter of not only the pepertrators of the massacre, but also other innocent humans. By the time Wolverine became sober, his actions resulted in the legacy of the X-Men being tarnished. After this, Wolverine sank into a deep depression, keeping his former X-Men uniform as a reminder of his fallen teammates.[1]
