"So, I realized real strength comes from looking in the mirror and saying, 'Hey, man, I'm gonna work on me.' I didn't need a magic crowbar to give me a false sense of power. All it did was make me and my boys act like idiots. Rolling up on you like we were some supervillains or something."
―Dirk Garthwaite[src]

Dirk Garthwaite is a former member of Intelligencia and former leader of the Wrecking Crew who operated as Wrecker. However, following an attack on She-Hulk, Garthwaite left Intelligencia and the Wrecking Crew and relocated to the Summer Twilights retreat, having joined Emil Blonsky's Abomaste group.

Ambush on Jennifer Walters[]

"Okay, fellas, I admit that did not go exactly as I imagined it. Thunderball, did you get it?"
"No. Once she turned into She-Hulk, I couldn't pierce that nasty green skin."
"Damn it. Boss is gonna be mad."

Sometime later, Garthwaite, in search of recovery after regretting his past actions, learned about Emil Blonsky's retreat and joined Abomaste. He then received self-healing from the therapy sessions. One day, after going to the yurt hut, he came to the Wood Lodge for a meeting, only to see Jennifer Walters there. Surprised at seeing her, she transformed into She-Hulk and forcibly tossed him into a stack of chairs.

Garthwaite apologizes to She-Hulk

Blonsky instructed her to sit in the calming chair and Garthwaite sat next to her, in order for them to resolve their issues. He apologized to her for his actions with his crew, however, she was skeptical. He continued to listen as she talked about her issues with Josh Miller. He told her that she could have been ghosted and advised her to embrace herself and not be self-conscious. His words, along with the rest of the group, helped bring peace to her.[2]

When Walters wanted a yurt, Garthwaite and the others waited outside for her. When she came out and expressed her approval, they celebrated. Later, the tow truck arrived and they gathered to say goodbye to Walters.[2]

Helping Jennifer Walters[]

Garthwaite was at Summer Twilights a little later when Jennifer Walters returned. He greeted her, saying how Saracen got him into Pu-er tea. However, Saracen kept sneaking chicken blood into it. He asked if Walters needed to talk, but Walters said she wanted to talk with Emil Blonsky. Garthwaite told her Blonsky was doing an event down at the barn.[3]
