- In the comics, Simon Williams operates as the superhero Wonder Man, possessing ion-based abilities. He was initially a foe of the Avengers, but later became one of the members of the team, fighting against his evil brother Eric, the Grim Reaper. His cerebral patterns were used by Ultron to create Vision, and he had a romantic relationship with Wanda Maximoff, with her son William Maximoff named after him.
- In the alternate 31st Century of Earth-691, Simon Williams is known as Hollywood and is part of the original Guardians of the Galaxy alongside Yondu Udonta.
- Simon Williams is one of the few Marvel Comics characters to have two incarnations within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Simon Williams is also based on the same character.
Behind the Scenes[]
- Nathan Fillion was cast by James Gunn as Simon Williams, since Gunn has included Fillion in all of his movies. However, his appearance was cut from the finished film.[4] Due to the scene being cut, Marvel Studios chose Yahya Abdul-Mateen II to portray Simon Williams in Wonder Man.[5]
- Johnny Alexander was a stunt double for Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the role of Wonder Man.
