Trivia[]
- This Wolverine is a homage to the character's first comics appearance as a brief antagonist in The Incredible Hulk #181 by Len Wein and Herb Trimpe. In the story, Hulk is intercepted by Wolverine during a fight with the Wendigo in Quebec, Canada, before the pair reconcile their differences and team up to take the monster down. It is retroactively established in later comics that Wolverine was dispatched by Canada's Department H to engage the two parties during his time as an espionage operative following the Weapon X program.
- The suit worn by Wolverine references the brown and tan costume the character adopted during his later years as a member of the X-Men, first appearing in Marvel Comics' X-Men #139 by John Byrne and Terry Austin (August 1980) and was in use for the majority of the character's appearances throughout the 1980's up until the early 1990's, only being repurposed for certain modern storylines as of recently.
- A shot of Wolverine with the Hulk reflected in his claws is a reference to the cover of The Incredible Hulk #340. Deadpool's reference to Wolverine fighting Hulk in his brown-and-yellow suit also references this issue.
