Being stranded on Maveth, Will Daniels found a cave that he used to make his home, using natural light from the underground cracks known as luminescent substrata. There, he hid from It when needed and was kept safe. A decade later, Daniels returned home to find Jemma Simmons caught in his trap. At first, Daniels did not believe it and did not trust Simmons, but when Simmons tricked him and broke out, Daniels believed she was real and they began helping each other. Throughout several months, the two became a couple and worked to find an exit off of the planet. When they made the plan, the duo left.[1]

Although Jemma Simmons returned to Earth, Will Daniels was killed by It, who took over his body. It, also known as Hive, returned to Daniels' cave, where he stayed. Later, Leo Fitz traveled to Maveth as a prisoner of Grant Ward and HYDRA. Knowing of Daniels' cave, Fitz found the hole and jumped in. He hurried over to Hive, believing him to be Daniels, and woke him up. Hive was shocked for a little bit, but joined them on their journey, where he would inevitably turn on Fitz.[2]
