"My anger is real. But if I can use that anger for intimidation and fear to do work, then so be it. If I have to speak the language of those who would do others harm to make them stop, then so be it."
"But that's not you! Yeah, you can use anger as a tool. But you disable yourself when you use it as a crutch."
Luke Cage and Claire Temple

Wig Out is the third episode of the second season of the television series Luke Cage.

Plot[]

Cage looking out the window

Claire Temple comes to treat to Cockroach Hamilton's injuries, after he was brutally attacked and nearly killed by Luke Cage. Cage explains that with Arturo Rey III dead, he needs someone to take down the Stokes Crime Family, but Temple says that he had crossed the line. Misty Knight assures him that she will make sure that Cage will not be arrested but notes that the incident with Hamilton could be used by Tom Ridenhour to shut down his vigilantism. Cage argues that he would not have to do that if the NYPD did their job right and goes after his last lead: Nigel Garrison of the Yardies.

LCS2 Bushmaster (Hanging Around Home)

Bushmaster and Sheldon discuss their next move against the Stokes family, as Sheldon informs Bushmaster that Rey III is dead and Cage just took Hamilton down. Bushmaster concludes that although he and Cage are both against Mariah Dillard, Harlem will never be his, as long as Cage is around. Sheldon notes that without Rey III and Hamilton, Dillard will come to the Yardies to make a deal, so Bushmaster decides to give her the money, so she would be ripe for him to kill.

ShadesDillard-HallwayChat

Dillard spends more time with Tilda Johnson at her brownstone and notices her musical talent, when Johnson plays on Cornell Stokes' keyboard. Johnson recalls her memories with the family and the darkness of Mama Mabel's criminal business, while Dillard assures her that together, they can move on. Tyler and Mark Bailey tell Knight that it was their investigation, but she does not take them seriously.

Cage continues to investigate the Yardies, as Bobby Fish notices the growing tension between Cage and Temple. Cage is upset that Temple called the police on him, but Temple argues that she only called for Knight and an ambulance for Hamilton, after he was nearly killed. Temple is concerned that Cage's unleashed rage could be a serious danger, but Cage replies that sometimes brutality is required.

Tom Ridenhour reprimands Knight for tampering with an ongoing investigation and letting Cage leave the crime scene without authorization, but Knight objects that Cage does what the police cannot to take Dillard down. Ridenhour reminds her that without evidence, they cannot do anything and considers to suspend Knight from duty, but realizes that he cannot make such a decision.

Bushmaster gives money for the gun business to Shades, but he discovers Garrison's severed head in the bag, realizing that Bushmaster was the one who killed him.
