Westview is a town located in the state of New Jersey. In 2023, the town became the focal point of a S.W.O.R.D. investigation after Westview and its citizens fell under the control of Wanda Maximoff.
History[]
Plot of Land[]
Vision bought a plot of land in Westview to build a house and live with Wanda Maximoff there.[1]
Westview Anomaly[]
Creating the Hex[]
- "The Scarlet Witch is a being of unfathomable magic. She can rewrite reality as she chooses, and is prophesized to either rule or annihilate the cosmos."
"She took over a whole town using her mind." - ―Wong and Doctor Strange[src]
In 2023, two weeks after the Blip, Wanda Maximoff drove to Westview and observed residents in the town square. She then parked by the plot of land that was under her name and walked over to it, holding the deed.
In much grief about not being able to live there with Vision, Maximoff released bursts of chaos magic and unintentionally created a Hex turning Westview into a sitcom-themed reality. She then released more of her magic and created the house on the plot of land, as well as creating a new Vision.[1]
Agatha Harkness' Arrival[]
The sorceress Agatha Harkness arrived in Westview after sensing the immense amount of spells that was cast within the Hex. Upon arrival, she disguised herself as "Agnes" and enchanted a Westview resident named Ralph Bohner, while living in his house.[1]
Investigation[]
- "It's a missing town. Population 3,892."
"Why haven't you gone inside to investigate?"
"'Cause it doesn't want me to. You can feel it too, can't you? Nobody's supposed to go in." - ―Jimmy Woo and Monica Rambeau[src]
Days later, FBI agent Jimmy Woo traveled to Westview in search of a missing person, who was living there as part of the Witness Protection Program. He later requested S.W.O.R.D. to lend him one of their imaging drones, where Captain Monica Rambeau was sent to help. Questioning the Eastview police officers that were nearby, the two learned that the town had been mysteriously forgotten, and that something was preventing them from entering. Rambeau later used the drone to observe the town from the top, where after entering, the drone abruptly disconnected. Confused, the two then approached further into the town's entrance, where they discovered a semi-transparent barrier in front. Rambeau touched the barrier and was pulled inside, where she was given the sitcom identity of "Geraldine".[2][3]

Liberation[]
- "I knew sooner or later you'd show up wanting to discuss what happened at Westview. I made mistakes, and people were hurt."
"But you put things right in the end and that was never in doubt." - ―Wanda Maximoff and Stephen Strange[src]
Agatha Harkness enchanted Maximoff in order for Maximoff to revisit her past traumas and reveal how she came about to create the Hex. Harkness then released Maximoff and threatened to strangle Billy and Tommy Maximoff in the street. Maximoff ran out of the house and came to their rescue. She was told by Harkness that she was the legendary “Scarlet Witch”. Maximoff knocked Harkness away and told her children to run inside, before fighting off Harkness, who used her powers to drain some of out of Maximoff. Maximoff knocked her aside with a car, before being met by White Vision who tried to kill her, but she was saved by her recreated Vision.
Monica Rambeau witnessed this from the house’s window and was then confronted by Ralph Bohner. Rambeau learned his true identity and that Harkness had enchanted him. She freed him by breaking the necklace off his neck and left the house.
Maximoff reengaged Harkness in the town square, who showed her the Darkhold and explained how powerful and mythical she was. Maximoff refused to listen, until Harkness broke the Westview residents from their enchantment. They told Maximoff that they had her nightmares and felt her grief, overwhelming her where she lost control of her powers, choking them. She then regained control and started to break the Hex open, telling them to leave. As she did, her Vision and children arrived and began to fade away, causing her to stop opening the Hex. Harkness attacked them, and Maximoff created a forcefield to protect them only to have her powers drained. S.W.O.R.D. crews led by Tyler Hayward arrived in their Humvees and Maximoff told her children to handle them as she dealt with Harkness. When Harkness attacked a few of the agents, Maximoff protected them before confronting Harkness on top of a building.
Vision engaged White Vision in the Westview Public Library, eventually coming to a truce, as Vision revealed that he wasn’t the real Vision. White Vision became curious and Vision restored his memories, allowing White Vision to remember that he was the real Vision. In order to process it, he flew away out of Westview.
As Billy and Tommy dealt with the agents, Hayward came out of his Humvee and threatened to kill them but Rambeau arrived and protected them. Hayward hopped back into his Humvee and prepared to run them over but was stopped by Darcy Lewis, who rammed the food truck into his Humvee.
Maximoff engaged Harkness in a fierce duel in the sky, and created runes along the Hex, letting Harkness drain her powers away from her. Maximoff then embraced her identity as the Scarlet Witch and regained her powers, along with taking Harkness’ powers. Maximoff then lowered herself and Harkness to the ground, and enthralled Harkness as “Agnes”. She then took Vision and her children back to their house and said her goodbyes, as she took the Hex down, erasing them and returning Westview to reality. After standing in the abandoned plot of land, Maximoff walked back into the town square and passed the residents who glared angrily at her. She met with Rambeau, apologising for her actions as well as stating she would learn more about her powers. Rambeau sympathised with her and wished her luck, as they exchanged goodbyes. Maximoff then flew away out of Westview, looking back at it one last time.
Jimmy Woo and other FBI agents arrived in the town square and Woo told Rambeau that he would be taking over the investigation. Hayward was arrested and taken away by the Eastview police. An agent walked up and asked to speak with Rambeau in the Coronet, revealing herself as a Skrull and that she was wanted by an old friend.[5]

Earth-838[]
On Earth-838, Wanda Maximoff lived with her sons Tommy and Billy in their house in Westview. In 2024, Maximoff was ambushed and had her body taken over by the prime timeline's Wanda Maximoff, who had dreamwalked into her. She then was enthralled to leave her house and fly out of Westview.
Later, Maximoff was transported to Earth-838 by America Chavez so she could personally see Tommy and Billy. When she saw them, she was able to break free from the Darkhold and became emotional, but 838's Maximoff comforted her.[6]
