The West Chesapeake Valley Thunderbolts were a youth soccer team that Yelena Belova played for as a child while her family was living undercover in the United States. Accounts differ on who sponsored the team, with Belova and Alexei Shostakov offering conflicting and dubious claims involving various local businesses that may have been involved in the sponsorship. During Belova's time on the roster, the team failed to win a single game.
The soccer team later served as an unofficial namesake for the Thunderbolts, prior to their reformation as the New Avengers.[1]
