Wendy Spector was the mother of Marc and Randall Spector, and the wife of Elias Spector. After Randall died in a drowning incident, she was traumatized and became physically and psychologically abusive towards Marc, blaming him for Randall's death. She eventually passed away.

Wendy Spector blames her son about his brother's death
Wendy Spector lived in Chicago, Illinois, together with her husband Elias and two sons, Marc and Randall. One day, Wendy was cooking a BBQ when Marc and Randall went to play in a cave to reenact the scene from Tomb Buster, despite Wendy telling them not to do so, which resulted in Randall drowning. On Randall's shiva, Wendy blamed Marc for what happened to his brother, screaming that all of that was his fault. Wendy became distant to Marc, refusing to forgive him for Randall's death.

On Marc's 12th birthday, Wendy got drunk and berated Marc for being always jealous of Randall, and that she should have known Marc would do that to him. Marc ran out of the dining room and went to his room, while Wendy followed him but Marc would not open the door for a while. Barging into Marc's room, an enraged Wendy grabbed a belt off the wall and beat Marc. To cope with the abuse, Marc ended up developing a dissociative identity disorder, creating an alter known as Steven Grant.
Eventually, during his adolescence, Marc decided to leave home, not being able to take Wendy's abuse despite his father assuring him that she would seek help. In early 2025, Wendy passed away.[2]

Elias contacted Marc and told him about his mother's death, but Marc refused to go to her shiva, not being able to forgive her. On the other hand, Marc's alter Steven Grant remembered his mother being kind and still thought that she was alive, frequently talking with "her" on the phone.[2]

Wendy Spector used to be a sweet mother who loved both of her sons. However, upon losing her younger son, Randall, Wendy's mind severally deteriorated to the point that she blamed her eldest son Marc for his death and developed an intense hatred for him. During Marc's birthdays, she would refuse to celebrate the day. Eventually, she expressed her hatred for Marc by becoming verbally and physically abusive towards him, something her husband, Elias, knew of but never intervened in. This was demonstrated on his twelfth birthday, when she whipped him with a belt in his room multiple times. Her hatred of her son was so great that to cope with it, Marc developed the alternate personality Steven Grant who only remembered how good she was despite the mental and physical abuse she put him through. Wendy's hate of Marc would continue well into his adulthood until the day she died, with Marc ultimately being unable to forgive his mother despite still loving her.
