We in Danger, Girl is the third episode of the first season of Ironheart.
Synopsis[]
Riri is uncomfortable being part of Parker's crew—two more heists, max, and she's out, she promises.
Plot[]
Riri Williams and the rest of Hood's Gang celebrate their TNNL heist and a large payout they receive. As the gang fools around and talk about what are they planning to spend their shares on, Clown puts on Parker Robbins's cloak for a joke. She notices that the cloak is unnaturally hot and Williams wonders if the rest of the gang ever considered to find out the source of Robbins' powers. Clown is excited, but John King attacks her and takes the cloak back, telling Clown and the gang off. Williams stands up for Clown and before things get messy, Robbins interferes and diffuses the situation, getting both of them to back down.
Slug then gives the gang a brief on their next job and their target, Hunter Mason of Heirlum Biotechnologies who deals in agriculture and drives local farmers out of business. They need to get inside the Heirlum Biotechnologies Facility but the security system would not let them bring in any normal weapons or the Ironheart armor. King then reluctantly apologizes to Clown for hitting her and Robbins dismisses the crew, while Williams asks him to talk in private.

Williams voices her hesitations, claiming that she is and never was a criminal and everything she does was only for the sake of her armor. Robbins tells her that everyone who ever achieved something had to do something questionable, saying that he himself was a nobody before getting the cloak. Williams then asks Robbins about the nature of his cloak and he replies that it is powered by magic, which does not satisfy Williams at all. He says that it does not matter to him either way, since the cloak allows him to protect what he cares about.
Williams returns home and meets with Xavier Washington, gifting him new earphones to replace the worn-out ones he has been wearing. Washington does not seem to be too excited, concerned about Williams' sudden influx of cash and the work he refuses to talk about. He appreciates the new earphones, but says that Natalie Washington used to take his old ones a lot and he wants to hold on to everything that reminds him of her. As they talk about Natalie, Washington asks her again to come clean, but Williams insists that she has nothing to hide.
Suddenly, Joe McGillicuddy appears at Williams' doorstep, which worries Ronnie, but Williams claims that McGillicuddy is a co-worker from her new job. Williams takes him out to talk in private and asks what is he doing there, and McGillicuddy explains that after their talk, he was getting new ideas on how to use technology to help people in various way. Williams says that she cannot talk in the moment and tries to get him off her hair, but McGillicuddy recalls her own words and refuses to go away. He asserts himself and says that he would go to Ronnie and tell her the truth about how they know each other if Williams bails on him, so she reluctantly accepts his blueprints.
Back at her room, Williams tells N.A.T.A.L.I.E. to run diagnostics, so she could optimize the armor, but N.A.T.A.L.I.E. refuses and insists that she should stay away from Robbins. N.A.T.A.L.I.E. is frustrated that Williams is putting herself in danger by continuing to work for Robbins, while not treating her with the respect she deserves. She suggests going somewhere to hang out like they used to, but Williams reminds her that she is not the real Natalie, but N.A.T.A.L.I.E. makes it clear that Williams is not getting the armor back until she gets what she wants.
Williams reluctantly agrees and goes out to town with N.A.T.A.L.I.E. and the two hang out, while she keeps getting texts from McGillicuddy. Williams is annoyed, but admits that his blueprints have a lot of potential and McGillicuddy himself is not half bad as a person. N.A.T.A.L.I.E. then recalls how Gary Williams once caught Natalie and her boyfriend at his garage, which made him very mad, and Williams accidentally slips and refers to N.A.T.A.L.I.E. as Natalie. N.A.T.A.L.I.E. once again insists that she should not get close to criminals like Robbins, but Williams replies that she has it under control and decides to go to Gary's Auto Repair next.
Williams claims that she will stick around for one more job with the gang and then she will be out, although N.A.T.A.L.I.E. is unsure that Robbins would let her go that easily. Inside the garage, Williams recalls how Gary and Natalie died and suffers a panic attack, and N.A.T.A.L.I.E. manages to calm her down, the same way the real Natalie used to do. As Williams returns home, she gets approached by Chicago Police Department, as they investigate the homicide of Stuart Clark. Williams is shocked to find out that Clark is dead, but lies about her connection to him to both the police and her mother.
In her room, Williams assumes that Robbins must have killed Clark and freaks out, realizing the danger she and her loved ones are in. N.A.T.A.L.I.E. gets her to calm down, before Williams decides that she needs a contingency to protect herself from Robbins, meaning she has to get his cloak. N.A.T.A.L.I.E. tries to talk her out of it, claiming that Robbins was too dangerous, but Williams insists that it is necessary to understand what they are up against. As Williams received a text from Robbins about the Heirlum heist, Williams comes up with a plan to secretly get a piece of his cloak while Robbins would be distracted with the heist. Although N.A.T.A.L.I.E. reminds her of the facility's security, Williams decides to use McGillicuddy's Bio-Mesh Skin prototypes to sneak tools in and quietly cut out the piece.
At Desperito's Pizzeria, Robbins is doing vinyasa in preparation for the job, but King joins him and says that they got to call the whole thing off. King says that he tried to run a background check on Mason, but failed to find any dirt on him to use as a leverage. Robbins refuses to cancel the job and says that they will find a way to get to Mason, but King thinks that he does not take things seriously enough. He claims that Robbins is getting too confident with Williams' armor on his side and the gang should not risk their lives for the sake of his vendetta. Robbins hesitates but watching the news report on ArtWorks Technology Company, he decides to through with the job, asking King to put his trust in him.
Williams visits McGillicuddy at his house, where she finds out that he has been experimenting with bionics and mangled his arm while incorporating the tech into his body. As Williams helps him, she talks about his Bio-Mesh Skin prototype and how it could be upgraded to be used for cloaking, although it does not sit well with McGillicuddy. Williams asks to borrow some tech, but McGillicuddy refuses, afraid that if any of it gets found, it could be traced back to him. Williams insists that they could make something legit and goes to get some peroxide, but accidentally finds a bag with the ashes of McGillicuddy's father.

Williams reads the name of the bag and realizes that McGillicuddy was the son of Obadiah Stane, a former COO of Stark Industries who died in a plane crash. McGillicuddy admits that his true identity is Ezekiel Stane and that his father actually died while trying to kill Tony Stark, and that he spent all his life to not become a villain like his father. Stane is worried that Williams is trying to drag him back into the world he has been trying to stay away from, and asks why is she so obsessed with her armor. Williams tells him that Gary was Stark's fan and was a great step-father to her and a great husband to her mother. Stane comments that Williams had an admirable role model unlike him, but Williams tells him that Stane can define himself and does not have to be like his father if he did not want that.
Stane then reluctantly provides Williams with the Bio-Mesh Skin under the condition that it would not backfire on him, telling Williams to follow Gary's advice and be a hero. With a pair of laser cutters concealed under the skin, Williams meets up with Hood and the gang, as they leave behind their weapons and head over to Heirlum. Williams uses the armor to scout the facility from the skies, while talking to N.A.T.A.L.I.E. about her plan to sneak behind Hood and get a piece of the cloak. As the gang gets in and takes over the grow houses, Williams leaves N.A.T.A.L.I.E. in the armor as her stand-in and goes on her way to get to Hood, who is talking to Mason. While Hood tries and fails to threaten Mason into signing Heirlum off to him, Williams sneaks under him with laser cutters, while the security sensors are reading her.

Williams proceeds to start cutting the cloak, while Hood orders the gang to torch the grow houses, but Williams triggers the sensors and the whole facility goes on a lockdown. The fire in the grow houses gets extinguished and the CO2 levels in the area rises, threatening to kill the whole gang inside. Williams tries to finish cutting the piece while Mason gloats, but then Hoods disappears and kills Mason, although Williams manages to get the piece regardless.

The gang scrambles to try and escape before the oxygen depletes and they all die, while the Heirlum security finds Mason's body and gets attacked by Hood. Williams sneaks out through ventilation, while N.A.T.A.L.I.E. guides her out, but then she runs into King. He confronts Williams about the piece of Hood's cloak in her hand and she says that she knows that he and Hood had Clark killed. King then attacks Williams and as the two struggle, N.A.T.A.L.I.E. in the armor rescues Clown and Roz Blood. She then rushes in to save Williams just in time and get her out of the facility, while the oxygen depletes completely and King dies. Hood manages to save Slug and Jeri Blood and as the gang evacuates, he asks Williams to find King, but she informs Hood that he is already dead.
Williams returns home, still shaken and panicking after what happened with King, before she realizes that the Bio-Mesh Skin was left at Heirlum, meaning she broke her promise to Stane. Devastated, Robbins calls out to someone, accusing him of failing Robbins and letting King die. As Robbins screams that he is done with "him", he witnesses the illusion of a dying King, while the shadow of Ironheart is looming over Robbins.
