- In the comics, Watoomb is a mystical deity and part of the group known as the Octessence with power over the elements, especially the wind. In an attempt to determine which member of the Octessence was the most powerful, Watoomb created the Waterfall of Watoomb and placed some of his power into it so that it could transform the first human who touched it into Tempest, the human avatar of Watoomb.
