"You gave her wings?!"
"And blasters."
Scott Lang and Hank Pym[src]

The Wasp Suit is an advanced Pym Particle-based suit, similar to the Ant-Man Suit. The first suit was created by Hank Pym and his wife Janet van Dyne for the latter's heroics. A modernized version of the suit, originally made by the two, was later finished and given to their daughter Hope to use as the new Wasp.

History[]

First Suit[]

Cold War[]

The original Wasp suit

During the 1980s, Janet van Dyne convinced her husband, Dr. Hank Pym, better known then as Ant-Man, to allow her to assist him in his S.H.I.E.L.D. operations. He agreed and took her on as his partner, dubbing her Wasp. As such, he developed for her a specialized shrinking suit similar to his own but with specialized wings attached to the back and a visor in her helmet. She became a natural at using the suit and being a hero overall. Several years later, she heroically sacrificed herself to prevent a Soviet missile from targeting the United States of America. In the process, she deactivated her Pym Particle Regulator and shrank between the molecules to disarm it, disappearing into the Quantum Realm.[1]

Second Suit[]

"This is an advanced prototype your mother and I worked on together. She never got to use it and now I realize that we were working on it for you."
Hank Pym to Hope van Dyne[src]

In 2015, Hank Pym showed a prototype version of a new Wasp suit to his daughter, Hope van Dyne. The two restarted the project so that Hope could wear the suit.[1]

Ant-Man and the Wasp 110

Hope van Dyne wearing the Wasp suit

In 2018, Hope wore the Wasp suit to fight against Sonny Burch's henchmen and against Ghost at the Oui. She teamed up with Scott Lang for the first time. She wore the suit again to retrieve the old Ant-Man Suit from Lang's daughter's school, to escape the FBI office, and during the chase through the city to keep the Mobile Laboratory away from Burch and Ghost. After getting the laboratory back, she and Lang went inside and fought off Ghost in order for Hope's father and mother to return safely.[3]

Wasp (Endgame)

In 2023, Hope donned the Wasp suit during the battle against an alternate Thanos and his alien army at the ruins of the Avengers Compound.[4]

Third Suit[]

In 2026, Hope wore the suit after being sucked into the Quantum Realm. At first her main objective was to find her parents, Scott and Cassie and to get out of there, but Janet reveals her past there and is now hunted by Kang the Conqueror because of what Janet did to him all those years ago. After learning of his objective to get out of the Quantum Realm and ignite a Multiversal War, she along with her parents, Scott and Cassie are forced to battle Kang and his army to stop the war from ever happening. They return to Earth having successfully stopped Kang from getting out and prevented a Multiversal War.[2]

Alternate Universe Versions[]

Zombie Apocalypse[]

Spider-Man, Wasp & Okoye

Wasp after killing a zombified Sharon Carter

In an alternate universe, Hope van Dyne wore the Wasp suit during the zombie apocalypse. She often used it to fight off zombies, including a zombified Sharon Carter. Hope entered the undead Carter's body whilst shrunken down and returned to normal size, destroying Carter's body around her. Later on, Hope used the suit to grow to a giant size and carry her teammates across a huge crowd of zombies, sacrificing herself in the process. The zombified Hope continued to wear the suit, which was now damaged after she was overwhelmed.[5]

Battle of New York[]

This section needs a rewrite

In an alternate universe where Captain Carter ended World War II, Hope van Dyne wore the Wasp suit as an Avenger in 2012.[6]

Sections[]

  • Helmet: Just like the Ant-Man suit, the helmet on the Wasp suit is designed to protect the user's brain from the effects of Pym Particle usage.
  • Wings: The Wasp suit is equipped with wings, allowing Janet and Hope to fly without the assistance of flying ants.

Capabilities[]

Ant-Man and the Wasp EW

  • Neural Reaction System: The second version of the suit has an integrated reaction system, allowing its user to control all of its features without the push of a button, unlike the Ant-Man Suit, where the user must interact with the suit every time they use size manipulation.[7]
"You go low, I go high."
"I have wings; why would I go low?"
Ant-Man and Wasp[src]
  • Flight: Utilizing four artificial, transparent fiber composite, insect-like wings on the suit's upper back, the user can fly at impressive speeds up to a 125 mph and manoeuvre with great ease and agility. The wings can be compressed and hidden inside a backpack within seconds.[8]
  • Size Manipulation: Like the Ant-Man Suit, the suit works by using the Pym Particles in the belt to reduce the distance between the user's atoms, making her smaller and compacting her body's physical structure to the point that she shrinks down to the size of an insect. Her strength and structural density are compacted and increased as well, allowing for her to gain superhuman strength and near-invulnerability when shrunk.
  • Self-Contained Environmental Protection: The second version of the suit, like the third Ant-Man suit, is able to insulate its user from harmful environments, notably underwater. This allows the user to both remain dry and be able to breathe underwater for an unknown length of time.
  • Enhanced Strength: The suit gives its user enhanced strength, the levels of which of can be changed with the Neural Reaction System.[7]
WaspSting

Wasp using her Stingers

  • Stingers: The Wasp Suit possesses two gauntlets capable of firing bolts that are powerful enough to blast holes through solid stone, incapacitate an unarmed man, and stun Ghost while she lacked the suit that allowed her to control her phasing. The Stingers can be adjusted to fire more powerful blasts, a feature Hope utilized during her fight against Thanos alongside Shuri and Pepper Potts.
    • Grappling Anchor: The Stingers can also fire a grappling line that can anchor and tether the user to the surface that is fired at, with the line then being attached to the waist.
    • Disc Launcher: The right Stinger can launch a Pym Particle Disc at a target.

Trivia[]

  • The first Wasp suit is more like Nadia Van Dyne's suit from the comics despite being Janet van Dyne in the suit for the movie.
  • The second Wasp suit's chest pattern resembles the face of an actual wasp, much like the third Ant-Man suit's chest resembles the face of an ant.
  • The third Wasp suit is a much more comic-accurate suit to all the others.
