- "He was wearing this ring! My grandfather's ring!"
- ―T'Challa to Zuri[src]
Wakandan Royal Rings are special rings made of silver, lacquer and vibranium[1] that are worn by members of Wakandan royalty.
History[]
Family Betrayal[]
Prince N'Jobu wore his royal ring while undercover as a War Dog in the United States of America. After T'Chaka murdered N'Jobu for pulling a gun on Zuri, his son N'Jadaka found his father's ring on his corpse and continued to wear it around his neck for the rest of his life.[2]
A King's Death[]
Following T'Chaka's death in an explosion caused by Sokovian terrorist Helmut Zemo at the U.N. conference in Vienna, his royal ring was claimed by his son T'Challa as the latter took over the role as King of Wakanda.[3]
Revealing Secrets[]
N'Jadaka, who eventually adopted the nickname "Killmonger" for the savagery he demonstrated during his military career, wore his father's royal ring when he freed Ulysses Klaue from the CIA South Korean Black Site. While trying to chase him down, T'Challa noticed the ring around Killmonger's neck and knew that there was no way that it could be a forgery due to its rarity and unique design. As a result, when he later returned to Wakanda, T'Challa demanded answers from Zuri about this, which lead the latter to tell him the truth about what happened to N'Jobu.[2]
Alternate Reality Versions[]
Project Liberator[]
- "I melted down that ring of yours."
- ―Tony Stark to Erik Killmonger[src]
While brainstorming for a viable energy source for the Stark Liberator Drones, Erik Stevens gave Tony Stark his ring as a sample. Later on, after Stark discovered that Stevens was responsible for killing both T'Challa and James Rhodes, he melted down Stevens' vibranium ring to power up a Stark Liberator Drone so that it could kill Stevens. However, Stevens overpowered the drone before murdering Stark.[4]
