T'Chaka's brother N'Jobu wore a Royal Ring while in the USA when the King found out about his true allegiances. After N'Jobu's murder at the hands of T'Chaka to save Zuri, his son N'Jadaka found his father's ring on his corpse and continued to wear it around his neck throughout his life.
A King's Death
The ring worn by King T'Chaka at the U.N. conference in Vienna, following his death in an explosion caused by Helmut Zemo, was claimed by T'Challa mournfully as he took over the role as King of Wakanda.
N'Jadaka, who eventually went by the name "Erik Stevens", wore his father's ring during the liberation of Ulysses Klaue from the CIA South Korean Black Site. T'Challa went after him and saw the ring on him. When he returned to Wakanda, T'Challa demanded answers from Zuri about this, so he revealed the story of N'Jobu to him.
