Wáhta decides to follow Kahhori
Wáhta grew up in Akwesasne with his older sister, Kahhori. Kahhori was fascinated with the Forbidden Lake, which was a lake that was said to be magical. However, it was sanctioned due to the many people that disappeared near it. One day, Wáhta watched as Kahhori made sure the coast was clear before she told Wáhta to follow her. Wáhta obliged as they made their way into the woods. However, Wáhta had trouble keeping up and asked her to wait.

Finally, they made their way to the top of the mountain where Wáhta collapsed to the ground in exhaustion, begging for water. Kahhori grew tense, saying that he should not drink the water from where they were. Wáhta looked forward and say a skeleton, meaning they were in the old battlegrounds. Wáhta warned Kahhori not to go further as the elders forbid it, but Kahhori disagreed and kept going, which Wáhta followed. On the way, Wáhta voiced his worry about the lake, due to the tales he was told.

Wáhta and Kahhori hide
Eventually, the siblings made it to the Forbidden Lake, but only found a simple pond with ducks. The two grew confused, but Kahhori concluded it was not the real lake. Suddenly, gun shots were heard in the distance, which Wáhta believed to be thunder. Kahhori realized it was from the village and the two sprinted back. The two hid in the tall grass as they watched Conquistadores take prisoners and set the settlement on fire. Wàhta whispered that they were monsters, which Rodrigo Gonzolo heard. He ordered his men after Wáhta and Kahhori.

The siblings sprinted away while being chased and ran up the mountain. They made their way up as the men shot at them. Once reaching the top, the two suddenly fell into a cave as the ground collapsed below them. The men followed, so the siblings ran further into the cave until they were met by a bright blue glow. They soon realized that in front of them was the real Forbidden Lake. However, before they could truly take it in, the two had to hide as the men found them.

While hiding, Wáhta made a sound, causing a Conquistador to find him. Therefore, Kahhori chucked a rock at the man, allowing Wáhta to jump in front and try to disarm the man. However, Luis followed and shot Kahhori, causing her to fall into the lake, seemingly dying. A sad Wáhta was soon restrained as Luis took his necklace and brought Wáhta back to camp.[1]

Later, Gonzolo returned from the lake angry. He demanded that all Mohawk people be taken and transported back to Spain. Therefore, Wáhta was shackled and put on the boat. Soon, Wáhta heard none other than his sister calling for him. Suddenly, Kahhori opened up the floorboards and reunited with Wáhta.

Kahhori, now enhanced and sporting blue body paint, gave Wáhta his necklace back and explained that she had brought some friends. She explained that the powerful people helping her were actually their own people and Wáhta should watch as there will be songs to sing about that day. Wáhta stood in awe as he named the Sky Worlders "thunder beings". Atahraks then joined Wáhta, explaining that Kahhori was the bravest of them all.
