Early Life[]

Growing up, whenever the power went out during a storm, Victoria and her mother lit as many candles as possible, staying up all night telling stories and reading, pretending to exist before technology. When the thunder scared Victoria, her mother would tell her that the sound was the result of God bowling in Heaven.[4] During her childhood, she took a trip to San Francisco and loved the city.[3]

She met Marduk Kurios, and admired his youth, charm, and presence. Occasionally, Helstrom would sense darkness in Marduk, although whenever she did, he would turn his kindness instantly back on, never letting her see. Helstrom married Marduk and had two children with him, Daimon and Ana Helstrom.[5] While pregnant with Daimon, Helstrom began receiving gifts from the women Marduk killed. At first, Helstrom thought that Marduk was cheating on her, although she eventually started to realize what he was. However, she did not run since she realized that Marduk would make her feel the pain and that she could not escape.[3]

Not wanting to have a child with Marduk, Helstrom began drinking cheap alcohol in hopes of aborting her son, although it did not work and she had the children anyway. When Daimon was nine years old, he was on a tire swing when the branch he was on broke. He fell to the ground and found himself unable to breathe. Victoria, wanting Daimon to be more courageous and less dependent on her, pushed his knees to his chest and guided him through breathing until the air returned to his lungs.[5]

Helstrom and Ana regularly took trips to the botanical gardens near their home, where Ana loved to get her hands dirty and climb trees. Helstrom, Ana, and Daimon went to the zoo various times as well, where Ana loved counting the spots on the giraffes. Helstrom made sure to bring Ana to the machine where kids could make wax animals, and Ana made a giraffe every time. Helstrom's husband often talked to Helstrom about how much of himself he had seen in Ana, although Helstrom hung on to the idea that she gave her daughter various traits as well.[3]

When Ana was eight years old, Marduk returned home from a "business trip" and gave Ana a green pin, claiming he got it just for her. Helstrom realized that it was likely from his latest murder victim, so she slapped it out of Ana's hands, causing her to cry.[1] Helstrom gave Ana a box for earrings and toys and other things she might need to hold, and Ana used it to hold gifts from her father. Helstrom hated this, which led Ana to believe that she hated her.[6]

Kidnapping of Ana Helstrom[]

Marduk Kurios decided to bring his and Helstrom's daughter, Ana, along with him to perform several murders. Helstrom tried to stop Marduk, who simply pushed her to the ground, marking her for possession by the demon Kthara, and left with Ana. Helstrom and Daimon Helstrom ran after Ana and Marduk, but they became out of reach, so Helstrom comforted Daimon. Daimon was later cleaning the bathroom floor, when Helstrom noticed that he was still upset, so she went to comfort him.[5]

Possessed and Committed[]

H105 Victoria Writing Journal

Helstrom writing in her journal

Being driven mad from the hope that Ana Helstrom would return to her, while fighting against Kthara for control over her body, Helstrom began keeping a journal, although her writings would occasionally be interrupted by outbursts towards Kthara, which would often be written on the page. Too far gone to turn the page on her calendar, Victoria began carving crosses into the wall next to the calendar to continue marking days. She also scratched her husband's face out of all of the family photos around the house. One day, she became so frustrated with herself that she ripped several pages out of her journal, and then stared at a family photo with her husband's face scratched. She kept writing, scratching her mark, when Daimon Helstrom came to her room and insisted she ate.

Helstrom is committed

Helstrom and her son sat down for dinner, realizing that Daimon had prepared Ana's favorite meal without setting a place for her. Daimon tried to tell Helstrom that her daughter was not returning, and Helstrom lashed out, upsetting Daimon. She calmly resolved to save her food for Ana, wrapping it in a napkin. Daimon tried to apologize for something, when there was a loud knock on the door, which Helstrom believed to be Ana. She rushed to answer the door, instead finding the Behavior Health Department.

Dr. Meyer introduced herself and asked to talk to Helstrom, who insisted she stay with her son. However, she cut herself off when she realized that Daimon was the person who contacted them, as she got taken off.[4] She eventually lost the fight against Kthara,[7] and was later sent to Saint Teresa Center for Mental Health, where she came under the care of Louise Hastings.[5]

Victoria Warns Daimon

Daimon eventually figured out a way to be able to talk to Helstrom, even when she was possessed by Kthara, by describing a pleasant childhood memory the two shared.[1] Whenever Kthara was in control of her body, Victoria experienced the day that Daimon had her committed, her worst memory, on a loop in her head, trapped in her own head.[4]

Visited by Her Children[]

Newfound Strength[]

Victoria Run

Helstrom warning her son to leave

Daimon Helstrom visited who he at first thought was Helstrom, although Kthara was still in control of her body. Daimon told her about a childhood memory to coax Helstrom out, although Kthara pretended that it worked while Helstrom fought for control. Later, Gabriella Rosetti visited Kthara, who nearly killed her. Daimon attempted once again to exorcise Kthara, and while it did not work, Helstrom managed to resume control of her body long enough to warn her son, Rosetti, and Louise Hastings to run.[5]

Ana Helstrom later visited and taunted Kthara,[1] causing Helstrom to develop a new strength and regain control of her body for the time in years. She began asking for Ana, rambling, and saw Daimon. Daimon and Ana later visited Helstrom, who was happy to see her children together. Still delusional, she asked her children whether they had had fun playing in the snow. When Helstrom suggested that they play in the snow together, Helstrom said that if their father got home, he would be angry. She began to have a breakdown, and Kthara resumed control.[8]

A Battle for Survival[]

Later, her condition began to worsen when Chris Yen brought the Keeper's Skull underneath Saint Teresa Center for Mental Health, where it began trying to contain Kthara. This inadvertently is taking a toll on her body while this process takes place. Seeing how her vitamin D levels were lower than they had ever been, Louise Hastings decided to take Kthara outside, momentarily ending the fight and trapping Helstrom. However, Hastings forced Kthara back into her room, and the fight between Kthara and the Keeper resumed.[6]

Meanwhile, Helstrom continued living through the loop from the day that Daimon Helstrom had her committed to the Behavior Health Department. She repeated the sequence until, during one time, the ceiling cracked above her, although Helstrom did not notice.

YoungAnaandVictoria

Victoria is reunited with Ana Helstrom

She continued reliving the memory until Kthara changed it, having Ana Helstrom return home instead of the Behavior Health Department taking her away after she noticed damage on the wall that was not previously there, while her body fell into a coma. Helstrom gave Ana the food she saved and asked whether her father hurt her. She asked how she escaped, and Ana said that she hit her father and ran, counting how far away lightning was striking from. Daimon tried to explain that it did not make sense, demanding to know how she escaped. Ana again counted how far away lightning was striking, when the thunder hit, revealing a shadowy figure behind Helstrom which she did not see. Ana panicked, and Victoria showed that there was nothing outside, explaining that the lightning could not hurt her, when the power went out, causing Ana to believe that her father was coming.

Committed (Helstrom)

Helstrom lit a candle as she told Ana about how lightning worked in a kid-friendly manner, but Daimon shut it down quickly with the harsh truth about it. A sinister knock at the door had everyone scared when suddenly the windows burst and her body jolted in the real world. Daimon disappeared, and Ana found trash and half-eaten mice when she heard something nearby. Ana confronted Victoria about letting her father take her while she wrote in her diary. Victoria finally realized that this Ana did not exist, and that the real Ana never came home.

ScaredVictoria

Helstrom sees Kthara

The door slammed behind her and just as Victoria was trying to open it, and Ana changed to someone that Helstrom recognized. Kthara then showed herself to Helstrom in the form she took when she was last alive. Kthara asked Helstrom to work with her to keep her husband from getting in so that they could both get back to their children, saying that if they let him in, he would break both of them. She insisted that Helstrom being possessed was punishment for both of them. Helstrom asked how long it had been, and Kthara told her that it had been too long and that time was running out, when that house began to get destroyed. Kthara explained that she had a plan and left as the room continued to break, and Helstrom decided to trust her and joined her.

VictoriaSeesSymbol

Helstrom rips the wall

Kthara led Helstrom into the basement, getting interrupted by a wall getting broken, revealing a symbol Kthara had drawn of the wall of their hospital room to show Keith Spivey several days earlier. The shock when the Keeper entered Helstrom's house caused her vitals to spike in the real world. Helstorm and Kthara saw the Keeper, whom Helstrom believed to be her husband, and rushed away. They made it to the basement, where Helstrom began reliving memories of her daughter getting kidnapped, but Kthara reminded her the memories could not harm her.

KeeperEnters

Helstrom lets the Keeper in

Kthara asked Helstrom to hide her, but Helstrom realized that it was not her husband, but rather someone Kthara was afraid of. Helstrom, tired of allowing Kthara run things, allowed the Keeper Demon in so that it could contain Kthara. Helstrom tried to make it out but began having heart problems in her mind and the real world. In the real world, Hastings asked Helstrom to stay alive, and Helstrom managed to hear that and find the strength to keep going in her mind. She looked around desperately, needing an escape. Victoria suddenly saw a hospital bed and peeled back wallpaper to reveal her room, freely in control of her body once more.

VictoriaWakesUp

Meanwhile, Yen had made it out to the hospital. Daimon Helstrom found him before he entered Helstrom’s room. Daimon did his best to destroy the skull, but Helstrom woke up and yelled for him to stop, realizing that it was containing Kthara. The siblings and their mother talked about Kthara outside, with the Keeper's Skull in her lap. Ana Helstrom was not interested in the family reunion at all, but Daimon was happy to have his mother back.[4] She was later told about the search for the Keeper's Skull and how it came to be in her possession.[3]

Reunited with Her Daughter[]

Victoria talks to Ana Helstrom

Ana Helstrom visited Helstrom's room, and Helstrom tried asking Ana several questions, about Chris Yen's state and where she lives, but Ana kept shutting the conversation down, hating the small talk. Ana questioned if Helstrom knew that her dad was a serial killer. Helstrom explained that she did not, rather seeing him as charming when they were together. Helstrom explained that it took time for her to realize that there was darkness within him but still, she was not sure. Ana questioned why Victoria did not run, and her answer was that her Dad did not reveal who he really was until he wanted her to see it and experience his cruelty. Ana commented on the depressing nature of Helstrom's room, asking for a change of pace.

VictoriaAndAnaOutside

The two went outside, where Helstrom told Ana about their trips to the botanical gardens together, where Ana loved to climb trees and get her hands dirty. Ana told Helstrom that she had come to hate getting her hands dirty and asked why her father gave her gifts. Ana asked her mother why her father always brought her gifts, and Helstrom told her that her father saw her as a protege. However, she reminded Ana that she had inherited just as many traits from her mother as her father. They reminisced on their trips to the zoo, and Ana brought Helstrom inside. Helstrom expressed her wish that her son had gotten a life the same way Ana did, rather than commit to helping her.[3]

Protecting Her Children[]

The Helstroms and Louise Hastings during the attack

Ana Helstrom brought Helstrom back into Saint Teresa Center for Mental Health, and Helstrom reflected on watching her husband kidnap Ana, who decided to tell her that he had gotten an army of demons, and that he might attack the hospital. She also told Helstrom that she did not know how to kill her father, but to hold onto the Keeper's Skull. Louise Hastings then came and told them that Ellis had been killed and somebody was inside. Ana freed Helstrom from her wheelchair in order to give her a fighting chance in the event that Ana got hurt. A security guard told Hastings that everyone was locked in the hospital when the power went out and the emergency energy turned on.

Helstrom saw Ana answer the phone while Daimon Helstrom warned her about demons attacking, and the two of them joined Hastings in going to her office, where they found Magoth. He stole the Keeper's Skull and ran off, and Helstrom watched Ana and Hastings argue about whether Ana should run after him or wait for Daimon, during which Ana mentioned that the skull was their only weapon against her father.

Helstrom hid in Hastings' office while Ana and Hastings went after Magoth. She got attacked by a patient, but Daimon arrived in time to save her, along with Gabriella Rosetti, to whom she was introduced after her and her son's happy reunion. They went after the Keeper's Skull and reunited with Hastings, Chris Yen, and Ana Helstrom, who had the skull. Victoria watched Daimon and Ana argue about whether to sacrifice their mother to destroy their father, and decided to speak up, wanting a say in her own future. She said that she felt as though she had failed to protect her family, telling Ana that she wishes she was the one who got taken rather than her daughter. She told Daimon how proud of him she was, saying that he made the right call by having her committed. She announced her intention to let them use the skull, when Basar suddenly attacked. He threw everyone to the side and grabbed Helstrom, taking her down the elevator.

VictoriaHoldingTheSkull

They got downstairs and went near a truck, when Daimon and Ana rushed downstairs. Daimon rushed over to Helstorm while Ana fought him, and Basar threw Ana across the room, causing the Keeper's Skull to roll underneath the truck. While Daimon fought Basar, Helstrom crawled under the truck to get the skull and give it to Ana, who used it to destroy Basar. However, this also destroyed the skull, causing Kthara to regain control of Helstrom's body and escape Saint Teresa's with Basar and Raum.[3]

Finally Free[]

VHelstromSuffocatedToDeath

Victoria is suffocated by Ana Helstrom

While in full control, Kthara rested at Portland Harbor and set a trap for Daimon Helstrom. However, Ana Helstrom and Louise Hastings took the bait instead, planning to kill Helstrom and Kthara with a special dagger. However, Helstrom resumed control and saw Ana, putting her hand on her daughter's cheek. Unable to kill her mother, Ana simply suffocated her to death and then had Hastings revived her. As Hastings continued her chest compressions, Ana became frustrated and yelled at Helstrom. However, she finally gasped for air and came back, telling Ana to use her inside voice. The three laughed, happy to be reunited. Helstrom was brought back to Saint Teresa Center for Mental Health and put in a gurney, unconscious while healing.[9]

Basar (Daimon) visits Victoria

Helstrom is greeted by Basar

She woke up and found Daimon Helstrom, unaware that he had been possessed by Basar. Basar wished her a good morning and closed the door to her room. He pretended to be Helstrom, answering her questions and remarks until she said that her struggles with Kthara were over, when Basar said they were not and began to strangle her. However, Ana Helstrom returned and fought him off, defeating him. She later returned and explained that he had been possessed and asked Helstrom to try to talk to him and help him fight, the same way he did for her when she was possessed. She expressed fear and Ana empathized with her, saying that talking to Daimon was their only option and assuring her that she would not fail him.

Helstrom goes to talk with Basar alone

She went up to Basar, asking Ana and Hastings to talk to him alone. She saw her son possessed and told Basar that Daimon would be able to fight him off. She explained that Kthara was not coming for him, and that being in Kthara's head taught her that the demon did not care about him, rather seeing him as a tool. Basar got angry and began manipulating the lights at the hospital and cracking the glass, while Helstrom continued yelling at him. However, Hastings came and said that the door would not hold and that she would need to leave, so she took Helstrom to Daimon's house.

HastingsVictoriaHelpingGabby

While there, she looked at a picture of her two children together as kids, and thanked Hastings for raising Daimon while she was not there. Hastings expressed regret that she did not do the same for Ana, when a loud knock came at the door. She answered the door and found Gabriella Rosetti, who panicked when she saw Helstrom. Hastings told Rosetti that she was not Kthara, when she passed out. Helstrom and Hastings took Rosetti to the couch, and Helstrom asked how it was possible that Rosetti experienced several months while the rest of the world only experienced one day, and Hastings that it was not. Rosetti, barely maintaining consciousness, asked Hastings and Helstrom to find Daimon.

The power goes out

Helstrom called her daughter, who figured out that Kthara wanted her own body and made a plan involving having Daimon help. Helstrom expressed to Hastings her worry that it would not work, since she understood that Kthara's strength in her own body would be catastrophic. She suggesting aborting the child, although Hastings said it was not their decision to make. Rosetti then entered the kitchen and took a knife, telling them that Raum and Magoth had arrived.

VictoriaDefeatsRaum

They temporarily fortified the house as Hastings prepared to fight the demons alone. However, Helstrom refused to allow this and instead told Rosetti to hide alone. When Magoth entered the house, she and Hastings worked together to knock him out, but expressed confusion about where Raum was.[10] They went downstairs and knocked the other demon out, preparing to tie him up when Magoth returned, demanding to know where Rosetti was. Caretaker suddenly came and stabbed Magoth, who retaliated by throwing a fire poker at him. However, Hastings jumped in the way, getting stabbed herself. While Magoth and Raum got away, Helstrom ran to get first aid supplies.

An ambulance came to take Hastings away while Helstrom reunited with Ana Helstrom, who told her that they needed the half of her father's dagger that Caretaker stabbed Magoth with in order to save Daimon Helstrom. They retrieved it and went to Saint Teresa's, only to find that Helstrom had died and was in the morgue. However, Ana realized he was not dead and found the mortician barely alive, which Ana then explained to Helstrom. The two discussed Hastings' condition and Ana explained to Helstrom that their father referred to her and her brother as special, able to survive more than the average person. She told Helstrom that she did not escape her father, rather he buried her alive. Helstrom embraced her daughter when Chris Yen entered, saying that he had an eyeball in his throat.

Later, Caretaker returned to Saint Teresa's and told her that the demons had captured Rosetti and the Blood were tailing them. Caretaker explained that their weapon had to be reforged, and Yen told Ana that only she could do it. Using the knowledge he had gained from becoming a Keeper Demon, Yen explained that her fire and blood could reform it. Although Ana did not believe she could make fire, Helstrom explained that she could likely do anything her brother could. Ana then talked about how much pain she would feel from touching the dagger, and Helstrom offered to take it for her, saying that she could survive it. They reforged the knife together in Helstrom's old hospital room, experiencing a lot of the pain, and fell to the ground with the dagger in one piece.

CaretakerVictoria110

She went to visit Caretaker and check on Hastings, telling him that the knife had been reforged. Caretaker began to offer help, but Helstrom insisted that Ana and Yen could handle it. She mentioned not knowing what a Keeper was, and stopped Caretaker when he tried to explain it. Caretaker said that he also used to prefer ignorance until he had to learn about demons, and told Helstrom about when a demon had possessed and killed his brother after being marked by Helstrom's husband. A doctor then came out and told them that Hastings had survived the surgery yet was not stable, and that the following twelve hours would be critical. Caretaker and Helstrom visited Hastings, and Helstrom comforted Caretaker while their friend rested. However, the machines monitoring Hastings started making noises, so Caretaker called out for a nurse. As nurses and doctors came to help Hastings, Caretaker and Helstrom were taken out of the room.[11]

A Family United[]

Helstrom and Ana Helstrom made dinner at Daimon Helstrom’s house. Caretaker and Louise Hastings arrived to join the dinner. Helstrom and Ana brought out the food, and Helstrom told Daimon to get Caretaker a beer. Victoria proposed a toast, talking about how bad things happen to good people, yet the important part was that they get through it together. She toasted to her children and the people who raised them, and they ate dinner together as a blended family.[11]
