Independently, both books in the Vibranium Inventor Tony Stark Universe would be considered non-canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In Iron Man: The Junior Novel, these differences include Christine Everhart simply walking away from her interview with Tony Stark rather than having sex with him, Stark saving Ezil's dog rather than his father, and James Rhodes being involved in the Duel of Los Angeles. In Iron Man 2: The Junior Novel, the differences include Stark not flirting with "Natalie Rushman" and hiring her based on her merits, Stark not arguing with Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan during the Duel of Monaco, Ivan Vanko not fighting through any guards when escaping prison, and the most significant contradiction, which is the element which Stark builds being Vibranium.
These books were sold together in the collection Iron Man 2: 2-in-1 Novel, and along with Iron Man 3: The Junior Novel in The Iron Man Collection. However, Iron Man 3: The Junior Novel says that Howard Stark built Captain America's Shield out of vibranium before Stark's birth, it is not compatible with Iron Man 2: The Junior Novel and they therefore cannot be considered the same universe. Therefore, the two novels in Iron Man 2: 2-in-1 Novel are considered to be set in the same universe as each other.
