"What if you were sipping margaritas on a sun-drenched beach turning brown instead of green, not looking over your shoulder for Veronica?"
"Don't hate, I helped design Veronica."
"As a worst-case measure, right?"
Tony Stark and Bruce Banner[src]

Veronica is a mobile service module deployed from a Stark Industries Satellite. It was designed by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner to respond to a Hulk rampage. It is stocked with automatic assembled parts of the Iron Man Armor: Mark XLIV for real time customization of the Hulkbuster armor and versatile combat capability, as well as walls of a self assembled electrified cage whose sum form a containment prison.

History

Creation of Ultron

After the defeat of Baron Strucker and the retrieval of the Scepter, Tony Stark convinced Bruce Banner to help him upgrade the Ultron Program by using the Scepter's matrices, mentioning that the Ultron Program would render the Avengers obsolete and unnecessary. Should the Avengers no longer be required, Stark stated that Banner would not require having Veronica be a threat to him.[1]

"I'm calling in Veronica."
Iron Man[src]

With Hulk hypnotized by Scarlet Witch to go on a rampage in the streets of Johannesburg, Tony Stark deployed Veronica to the Hulk's location to help subdue Hulk. Veronica trapped Hulk in its self-assembling electrified cage, while Stark donned the Hulkbuster armor.

Veronica aiding Iron Man to fight the Hulk

Hulk broke from his cage and did battle with Stark, with Veronica hovering close by to provide Stark support. Veronica continued to provide real time repair and customization of Stark's Hulkbuster armor by sending flying assembling parts to arm Stark's armor. Eventually, Veronica crash-landed when the Hulk struck one of the flying parts it deployed back to Veronica, thus suffering heavy damage from the collision.[1]

Trivia

  • Veronica's name is a reference to a character from the Archie Comics named Veronica Lodge who is the rival of Betty Cooper, a character who shares her name with Betty Ross, the former love interest of Bruce Banner. Director Joss Whedon said: "I just decided to call [the armor] Veronica because [Banner] used to be in love with a girl named Betty and Veronica is the opposite of that." [2]
