Vanessa Carlysle was a stripper that approached Wade Wilson at a bar. The two engaged in intense sexual activity and begun a relationship. Both deeply in love with each other, Wilson proposed to Carlysle, telling her that her crazy matched his crazy. But their happiness was cut short when Wilson was diagnosed with cancer. Carlysle tried to support Wilson, but he abandoned her.

Having been on her own for a while, Carlysle was kidnapped by Ajax, who placed her in an oxygen deprivation chamber. Wilson arrived to save Carlysle, having gone through a mutation that stopped his cancer from killing him. Working alongside Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Wilson was able to save Carlysle and kill Ajax. After the fight, Carlysle reunited with Wilson, and she discovered that his entire body had been disfigured. Carlysle decided to get back together with Wilson.[2]

While at home with Wade Wilson, Carlysle was killed in an attack by Sergei Valishnikov, an enemy of Wilson.

In the afterlife, Carlysle would eventually be joined by Wilson, and the two embraced, now getting to spend eternity with each other. However, Wilson was unable to stay in the afterlife. But, Wilson was able to acquire Cable's Time-Travel Device and used it to go back in time and prevent Carlysle from being killed by killing Valishnikov first. Carlysle then witnessed as Wilson used the Time-Travel Device again.[2]

Shortly after the attack, their relationship began to strain as Carlysle wanted Wade Wilson to turn things around in his life. After Wilson was rejected from the Avengers, he became depressed, so Carlysle talked to him about how he was distant.
Carlysle is forced to end her relationship
Wilson asked how he could change that, so Carlysle told him to show her he cared about something bigger than himself. Carlysle understood that Wilson was struggling after his rejection, so she told him that she wanted to help him through this tough time, repeating what he said to her when he proposed. However, Wilson decided to push Carlysle away by telling her to admit she did not want to be with him anymore. As a result, Carlysle decided to end her relationship with Wilson.[2]

Six years after breaking up, Carlysle, who got a new job and had been promoted to middle management, met Dermot, a coworker, and they began to date. Still remaining friends with Wade Wilson, Carlysle was invited to his birthday party at his apartment, along with the rest of his friends.

During the party, Carlysle and Wilson caught up and she talked about her job. Wilson asked if she was seeing anyone, so Carlysle told him about Dermot, jokingly remarking that he hadn't gotten her shot yet. Carlysle enquired about Wilson's dating situation, and he deflected by mentioning that he shares a bed with Blind Al, which they both laughed at. Wilson made a speech, telling his friends how much he loved them, and he lingered when looking at Carlysle, who smiled back at him. She then patted Wilson on the shoulder and told him to make a wish, referring to him as "buddy."[2]

Sometime after Wade Wilson's birthday party, Carlysle, along with all of his friends were once again invited to his apartment for dinner. As they all sat at the table, Wilson spoke with Carlysle, who commented on his recent activity saving the Multiverse. Wilson told her that he did it for her, which Carlysle was touched by, and she held Wilson's hand. The two then got back together and continued their relationship.[2]

- In the comics, Vanessa Carlysle, also known as Copycat, is a mutant with the ability to shape-shift as well as to copy any power from another individual after a period of physical contact. She was a member of X-Force.
- In 20th Century Fox's X-Men film series, Vanessa Carlysle was a stripper who met and fell in love with Wade Wilson. However, when Wilson found out he had terminal cancer, he left her.
