Valkyrie competing in the Sakaar Grand Prix
Running from her past, Valkyrie arrived on Sakaar, where she participated in the Sakaar Grand Prix. During one race, Valkyrie crashed, causing the crowd to boo at her and throw cans. They also threw Chinchillas, and she caught one, which she gave to a person in the crowd in exchange for their drink. As she drank, Valkyrie watched as Tony Stark was attacked by Gamora.
Valkyrie decides to team up with Tony Stark
While at a bar, Valkyrie was approached by Stark and Korg. Stark commented on Valkyrie being smart and wondered why she would compete in the Sakaar Grand Prix, which she replied was because she was going to win. Stark surmised that Valkyrie was simply chasing a thrill and drowning her sorrow in alcohol to forget her past. Valkyrie rejected Stark's life advice, so he then told her about their plan to overthrow Grandmaster. Valkyrie laughed at the idea, but she decided to join them.

Valkyrie helped Stark and Korg build a suit of armor and vehicle to compete in the Sakaar Grand Prix. Korg informed Valkyrie about how Thanos was hunting Stark. Valkyrie told Stark that he should be running, but he told her that he had to leave Sakaar better than he found it. They then challenged Grandmaster to a race, which he accepted, and they arrived at the Grand Arena, where Valkyrie entered her vehicle, with Korg joining her.

Once the race began, Valkyrie and Korg assisted Stark by eliminating several of the other racers working for Grandmaster. Valkyrie was able to save Stark from being attacked by Gamora and Topaz, and was able to remain in the race until it was just her, Stark and Grandmaster. Valkyrie ended up crashing, but Stark was able to win the race. Seeing Topaz driving towards Stark to kill him, Valkyrie crashed into her car, causing the Melt Stick to touch Grandmaster, melting him.
Valkyrie is declared the new King of Sakaar
Valkyrie got out of her car and was surprised as the Sakaarans all cheered her name. Valkyrie asked Stark what was happening, so he told her that she had been crowned the new King of Sakaar. Valkyrie accepted the position, repeating Stark's words about establishing campground rules, and she appointed Korg as her special counsel. Valkyrie, Stark and Korg shared a drink together, celebrating their success. Valkyrie asked Stark if she could convince him to stay, but he told her he had to return to Earth.[2]
