"Before creation itself, there were six singularities. Then the universe exploded into existence, and the remnants of this system were forged into concentrated ingots... Infinity Stones."
The Dark Elf species originates in the Ginnungagap, the vast, primordial darkness that existed prior to the creation of the manifest universe, where they reigned absolute and unchallenged.[2]
The Celestial Ego comes into being. Once he gains self-consciousness, Ego creates layers of matter around himself, eventually forming a new planet over millions of years, and will eventually create a humanoid avatar to explore the universe in an attempt to find life besides himself.[6][7]
Deviants evolve to become apex predators and start hindering Celestials' Emergences. Realizing that the problems was Deviants evolving, Arishem the Judge creates Eternals in the World Forge and makes them incapable of evolution. He implants false memories in them about living on a planet named Olympia and tells them that their mission is to help planets evolve. He sends them to various planets in order to fight the Deviants and ensure that Celestials can emerge. Sersi and Ajak are made.[1][16]
The demonChthon creates a castle intended to be the Scarlet Witch's throne. He inscribes spells into the walls of the castle and leaves guards there to protect it and the Scarlet Witch.[19][20]
A meteorite made of vibranium strikes eastern Africa. It affects the plant life around it, imbuing it with strength, prosperity, and mysticism.[21][22]
A second meteor of vibranium lands in the Atlantic Ocean in a region that will be known as Yucatán. It enriched plants near the Native American tribe that transformed the humans into Talokanil, who then formed the hidden nation of Talokan.[23]
As the time of human intelligence comes, five tribes in East Africa settle on the land where the Vibranium meteor struck and call it "Wakanda".[22][24]
In Africa, five tribes live in constant war with each other until, one day, a warrior shaman named Bashenga receives a vision from the panther goddess Bast, who leads him to the Heart-Shaped Herb. Bashenga ingests the plant and it grants him superhuman strength, speed, and instincts, making him the first Black Panther.[22][25]
Bashenga unites four of the tribes, and they agree to live under his reign, forming the nation of Wakanda.[22][25]
The Celestial Ego creates a humanoid avatar and explores the universe in an attempt to find life besides himself, but feels disappointed in what he finds. He begins planting seeds on many of these worlds, with the intent of one day using them to absorb all life until only he remains.[29][7]
A group of Eternals, including Thena, help a Celestial to emerge out of Centuri-Six. Thena dies in the process. The Eternals are then sent to the World Forge to have their mind erased and start anew. However, something goes wrong in the process of erasing Thena's memories, causing her to develop Mahd Wy'ry.[1]
As the Domo passes Earth's Sun, a Celestial Communication Sphere wakes Prime EternalAjak up, and she tells the others that it is time. The Eternals put on their celestial armor and prepare to land on Earth. Ikaris looks out the window onto the planet. Sersi approaches and greets him, remarking on how beautiful the planet is. The pair introduce each other and look back to the planet.[1]
Two inhabitants of ancient Mesopotamia are fishing when they hear others from the ledge yelling for them to leave as something is coming. The older man tells the child to run before he gets eaten by a Deviant. The boy tries to get away from the danger before optic blasts are fired at the Deviant by Ikaris, who flies at the Deviant and shoots more optic blasts. Another Deviant approaches the boy from behind as he watches Ikaris leave. However, Makkari runs in and saves him. She then uses her super speed to push civilians out of the way of the threat.[1]
Kingo charges up the cosmic energy in his fingers before sending two blasts at the Deviant. Makkari runs in, projecting a wave of energy from her speed which knocks the Deviant back before Kingo delivers a shot that sends it off the shore and into the rocks below. Kingo compliments Makkari, who returns the compliment.[1]
Gilgamesh charges up the super strength in his fist and delivers a striking punch to a Deviant. This allows Thena to run up from behind and perform a maneuver to slice the Deviant's legs with her weapons. She stabs the creature's face multiple times as it attacks her. She then projects an axe and stabs its neck before Gilgamesh punches it once again. Thena flips onto the Deviant's back and stabs it through the neck, killing it. Gilgamesh takes Thena's hand as they walk away.[1]
In the air, Ikaris continues to evade the Deviant's attacks while shooting his optic lasers at it. He punches the Deviant into the ground.[1]
The civilians look up at the Domo as it removes its cloaking, revealing itself to the people. Druig, Sprite, Phastos, Ajak, and Sersi arrive on the ground from the Domo. The frightened civilians stand with weapons in hands, but Druig mind controls them to feel safer. Ajak then heals Ikaris' shoulder wound and he thanks her. The Eternals then stand in front of the Mesopotamians, signifying their arrival.[1]
The boy approaches Sersi, who, with permission from Ajak, takes a stone dagger that was lying on the ground and transforms it into a golden dagger, giving it to the boy.[1]

The Ennead of Egyptian "gods" begin to let their presence be known, the first set of deities to be recognized by elaborate mythologies by the people of Earth. They would eventually banish the lunar god Khonshu for meddling in human affairs. Over time, more deities would become known, such as Greek and Norse gods.[39][14]
The Convergence occurs. The gravitational anomalies that it causes allow the construction of several megalithic monuments, including Stonehenge.[2][40][41] The Eternals are present in England and witness this.[1]
In an effort to save his race, Malekith kills most of his army and much of Bor's army, then puts his remaining forces into a sleep which lasts for millennia. Bor orders for the Aether to be hidden in the deepest area possible, where no one can access it.[2][40][41]

The Dweller-in-Darkness attacks the peaceful people of Ta Lo, devouring the souls in its path. The Dweller-in-Darkness and its Soul Eaters begin destroying the largest cities in Ta Lo.[46][47]
The leaders of Ta Lo send their strongest warriors to an Ancient Village to prevent the Dweller-in-Darkness from making it to Earth. The Dweller and his Soul Eaters overtake the army, but the Great Protector joins the fight and gives Ta Lo an advantage. The Protector and Ta Lo lure The Dweller into the Dark Gate and lock it. The people of Ta Lo begin guard the gate, empowered by the Protector's magic.[46][47]
The next day, Ikaris flies after a Deviant outside of Babylon. He eventually tackles the Deviant, sending it into the ground. Meanwhile, Makkari frantically runs to get civilians out of danger. While Thena and Kingo attack the other Deviants.[1]
Thena decapitates a Deviant, prompting Kingo to jokingly tell her that was his before he finds another Deviant to shoot. A Deviant charges towards a little girl, but she is saved when Ikaris jumps in between the two and grabs the monster's leg. He then turns around and shoots the other leg with his lasers before Makkari generates a shock wave that knocks the threat off its feet and into a building. Makkari then uses her speed to attack the Deviant countless times in a matter of seconds. Ikaris tells the child not to be worried.[1]
Meanwhile, Gilgamesh orders the civilians to get inside the Ishtar Gate before he charges up his fist to hit a Deviant named Enkidu. His punch sends Enkidu flipping over him and into the gate. However, Enkidu gets up and throws Gilgamesh far into the distance where he is caught by Makkari. Ikaris, Thena, Kingo, Makkari, and Gilgamesh then team up to overpower Enkidu, knocking it down. Enkidu gets up, but Gilgamesh delivers a final hit, killing it. The five Eternals then line up in a row, looking out into the distance for any more threats.[1]
Ajak stands in the center of the city and uses her Celestial Communication Sphere to see Arishem the Judge, who greets her. Ajak reports that the Eternals are completing their mission and Babylon is the largest city on Earth. Ajak assures Arishem that she respects him, but says that she sees something special about the planet. She suggests that they should forget about the mission for this planet only. However, Arishem interrupts her, saying not to get attached or forget her purpose. Ajak assures him that she will not let him down.[1]
Ajak leaves her conversation with Arishem the Judge and walks into the Domo which is parked under the palace. Inside, Ajak suggests that Phastos should get a life after he failed to attend the party the night before. She asks where Sersi, is to which Sprite responds that she is late as usual. Phastos excitedly shows Ajak his new invention, a steam engine. Sprite and Druig protest that it is too soon, and Ajak agrees. Sersi finally arrives and asks what she missed, so Phastos then thinks of something more similar, the plow. Sersi suggests that the device would be useful for the farmers. Ajak says that while humanity is advancing slowly, they will discover great wonders.[1]
The Eternals attend another party, and Sprite uses her powers to tell the story of how Gilgamesh defeated Enkidu, saying that if people are brave like Gilgamesh, they will go on adventures of their own. Kingo looks on and admires Sprite's storytelling as the crowd cheers. Sprite joins Kingo, and GIlgamesh sits next to them, making Kingo uncomfortable.[1]
Ikaris asks Thena for a drink, but she refuses. Thena refuses to cower behind walls, but Ikaris reminds her to trust Arishem. Thena leaves anyway, and Ikaris stops her, saying that it is an honor to fight with her. Thena returns the compliment and leaves.[1]
Ikaris watches happily as Sersi dances with the people.[1]
Makkari speeds into the party to find Druig. She shows him that she found many artifacts for a trafe. She then catches a civilian stealing one of them and informs him that she could sense his movements. They inform her that the Emerald Tablet that she has been searching for is a myth.[1]
Civilians start fighting, so Druig mind controls them, even going as far to make then slap themselves then hug. Makkari stops him saying he isn't allowed to do that. Druig reveals that he caught her stealing, they agree to keep each other's rebellions secret.[1]
Sersi dances with the humans while Ikaris promises not to let his feelings for Sersi distract from their mission. Ajak reminds him that he is allowed the live and life and encourages him to tell Sersi how he feels about her.[1]
The next morning, Sersi helps people plant and creates water for the plants.[1]
Ikaris meets with Sersi in the fields, and the two share a look.[1]
Ikaris watches as Sersi helps the humans cook their food. Ikaris tries to help, but messes up, which gets a chuckle out of Sersi.[1]
Sersi helps a group of humans build a home for themselves. Ikaris helps.[1]
Ikaris watches as Sersi has a young girl choose between two hair pieces. Sersi starts working on another girl's hair while Ikaris smiles.[1]
A young girl braids Sersi's hair while Ikaris watches a woman put food into a bowl. He turns his gaze back to Sersi.[1]
Ikaris and Sersi go out into the mountains. Sersi transforms a rock into stone the color of Ikaris' eyes and gives it to him. Ikaris speaks in Babylonian and tells her that she is very kind. She is impressed that he has learned their language to which he replies he does it to get closer to her. He then says "I am very beautiful" by accident, meaning to say that she is beautiful. Sersi laughs and he corrects the compliment in English before he reaches for her hand and asks her for her love. They kiss before having sex in a cave. The pair say "I love you" to each other and resume kissing.[1]
The Eternals leave Babylon,[1] which they had come to view as a home.[26]Ajak tells Ikaris the truth about their mission, that there is a Celestial seed inside Earth and they are supposed to let it grow and increase the human population so they can be sacrificed for the Celestial's birth.[1][57]

Loki and Mobius M. Mobius wait discretely, planning to test Loki's theory that their involvement in apocalyptic events does not branch the timeline and thus cannot be noticed by the Time Variance Authority.[64][43]
Mobius tells Loki that they have to be careful in testing their theory, because if Loki is wrong then anything they do could create a major branch in the timeline. Mobius suggests making small disturbances, including bird noises. Bored of this plan, Loki rushes into the center of town and releases goats from a cart.[64][43]
As a goat herder chases after them, Loki announces that he and Mobius are from the TVA, announcing that they are all about to die due to the eruption of the volcano. Loki says that he knows because he's from the future, prompting Loki to ask Mobius if that is the case.[64][43]
The Hand causes Mount Vesuvius to erupt,[65] causing a panic in the town as everyone flees. Loki shouts to everyone, telling them to enjoy their last meal and that nothing matters.[64][43]
Loki asks Mobius about the results of their experiment, and Mobius reports that there was no variance energy or branching. Loki tells Mobius that the TVA would never know they were here, making it the perfect hiding place for the Loki Variant they are looking for.[64][43]
The "Dark Ages" begin, a period with legendary rulers and knights, who interact frequently with the Eternals. Eventually, one king in this period would be King Arthur, who wields Excalibur and harbors feelings for Thena.[14][1]
In Korea, a Deviant gains access to a bead of cosmic energy, which grants the Deviant eternal life and the ability to clone itself. It begins killing humans in Korea and becomes a legend as a creature with nine tails named the Kumiho. A group of priests begin tracking the Kumiho's movements.[48][71]
Massacre of the Valkyrie: Hela attempts to escape from her prison of Hel, having spent 1600 years imprisoned. Her father and the man who imprisoned her, Odin, sends his army of Valkyries on their flying steeds to keep her at bay. They attempt to prevent her escape, but Hela is too much for them and she massacres the whole army, save for Brunnhilde, who is saved by one of her teammates. Odin intervenes and enters Hel. The All-Father manages to overpower and reimprison Hela.[37][75]
Brunnhilde forsakes Asgard and escapes to the junk planet of Sakaar, where she intends to live out the rest of her days drinking and salvaging, attempting to leave her old Valkyrie life behind her.[75][37]

Thor Odinson is born to Odin Borson and Frigga, and claimed to be Odin's firstborn child, and thus the heir to the throne of Asgard. He is not told about his imprisoned older sister until the day of his father's death in 2017.[76]
The Asgardians hear of the attack, assemble their army and prepare for battle.[55] The Eternals also participate in the battle, providing assistance for the Asgardian army.[1][77][78]
Odin, using the Bifrost, leads the Asgardian army to Jotunheim, in order to battle against the Frost Giants, and repel their invasion and protect Midgard.[55][77][78]
The Asgardians force the Frost Giants back to Jotunheim, where Odin discovers an abandoned Frost Giant infant. He adopts the child, names him Loki, and raises him alongside his own son, Thor. He later negotiates a truce with Jotunheim's king, Laufey, forcing the Frost Giants to give up their source of power, the Casket of Ancient Winters. Odin takes the Casket and places it in his vault.[55][77][78]
In battle, Thor holds a tiny Mjølnir as he is strapped to Frigga's chest. Frigga runs at the enemy and leaps a great distance to attack the enemy with her twin swords. Frigga uses the battle as a lesson for Thor to protect the defenseless.[80][81]
An 8-year-old Loki uses his sorcery to turn himself into a snake, enticing his older brother, Thor, who is nearly 9, to go and pick him up. Once Thor has done so, Loki turns back into his usual form and stabs Thor, considering it a practical joke.[76][37]
Makkari and Druig hear that the attacks are happening at night, so they decide to stake out. Druig is prepared to mind control anyone who finds them while Makkari plays with birds.[48][93]
At night, the two Eternals notice the police calling out at a "Kappa." They find a Deviant eating the police officers. They approach the Deviant, which lunges toward Druig, but Makkari runs in front of Druig to quickly attack the Kappa many times. Suddenly, the Kappa is shot by another man. Makkari uses this chance to punch the Kappa, sending it into the distance.[48][48][93]
Druig recognizes the man who shot the Deviant as Yoshiie Minamoto, who asks his men if it was an oni, then asks who Druig and Makkari are, having seen Makkari's speed. Druig admits that they are not from Heian-Kyo and offers to help kill the Oni if Minamoto keeps their secret. Minamoto agrees to the deal. Makkari gives Druig a look, thinking he mind controlled Minamoto, but he denies it.[48][93]
A couple hours later, the Kappa is spotted on the lower part of the river. Makkari speeds into a Deviant, knocking him over. When they think it's over, the Kappa makes his move and leaps toward Minamoto. Druig leaps in front of Minamoto and gets bitten, allowing the Kappa to steal his power. Thinking fast, Druig apologizes to Minamoto before controlling him to slice Kappa's arm off.[48][93]
Druig releases Minamoto from his mind control. Minamoto is momentarily confused, then asks Druig if he is okay. Druig says that he is alright and asks where the Deviant went. Makkari rushes Druig to the Domo, where Ajak heals Druig.[48][93]
Druig and Makkari return to Heian-Kyo, looking for the Deviant. Yoshiie Minamoto happily greets the pair and reports a lack of sightings. He promises to keep their secret and gifts the two Eternals the Onikirimaru, otherwise known as the Oni-Slayer. He claims that if they hold the sword, everyone in Japan will know they are his friend. He also says they can use it next time they encounter the Kappa.[48][93]
While the Kappa listens to their conversation, Druig asks what Kappa means, and Minamoto tells them it means "A Child From The River". Druig and Makkari scoured the city and couldn't find it, they assumed it died.[48][93]
The Deviant recovers from the damage it had taken the previous night.[48][93]
In Korea, the King Injong of Goryeo orders Kim Bu-Sik to record data all over the country. Kim assures Injong that he will obey. He begins his travels and hears tails about a Kumiho.[48]
Kim arrives at a remote temple and asks the High Priest about the Kumiho that he hard about. High Priest explains that the Kumiho gained the power of eternal life and is still killing people. As he tells him more, the Kumiho sneaks up behind High Priest and impales him with her claws, killing him and shocking Kim. Kim grabs the Samguk Sagi and runs. Kim's bodyguard and several warrior monks protect Kim from the Kumiho as he makes his getaway, resulting in their deaths. Kim runs into a dead end and turns around to see many Kumihos.[48]
Suddenly, Sprite appears, telling him not to fear. She turns Kim invisible, much to his confusion, while Kingo battles the Deviant. Kingo shoots cosmic energy at her only to find it disappeared. Kim explains that it was the Kumiho's tail. Kingo responds with confusion, so Kim explains that the creature absorbs people's life forms and explains that he previously did not believe the creature existed.[48]
Kumiho returns with six more clones of herself. Kingo continues to shoot at the incoming Deviants as he wonders aloud how a Deviant could get the ability to clone itself. He suggests that the Deviant absorbed things other than humans, confusing Sprite. Kingo is grabbed by the Deviants and buried under them. Kumiho shows Kingo the bead in her hand, which Kim reveals is the source of her powers.[48]
Sprite turns herself invisible and sneaks up on Kumiho and takes the bead from her hand, noticing that it radiates cosmic energy. She destroys the bead, and therefore Kumiho's power source, so it gets off of Kingo and flees. Kingo suggests that they follow it, but Sprite is amazed by the sight of the Kumiho leaving.[48]
Kim gives the two Eternals the Samguk Sagi Kumiho, a scroll containing all of the research on the Kumiho. He explains that humanity is not ready for something so confusing. Kingo assures him they'll keep it safe. Sprite uses her powers to show Kim his country's past. With this information, Kim is able to create a very detailed chronicle to be published.[48]
Hundreds of Ten Rings members, lead by Xu Wenwu, form an army and prepare for an assault on the Seljuk Empire, waving their banners. Xu commands his men to remain behind as he approaches the fort. The Seljuks retaliate by launching a flurry of arrows. Xu unleashes the Ten Rings and easily blocks the arrows as he approaches the opposing army.[46][94]
Using the rings to launch himself, Xu lands among the Seljuk forces, quickly decimating many of them. Xu again uses the rings to clear a path for his men and break down the castle's door. Xu's soldiers charge the castle and claim it for themselves.[46][94]
Phastos and Ajak go to Córdoba, intending to watch the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba get consecrated. Phastos admires the artwork by the engineers. Ajak agrees. As they arrive at the Mosque, Phastos is surprised at the presence of a bishop, and Ajak reveals that she contacted Pope Gregory IX. They meet with Lope de Fitero and Bishop Juan de Soria. Ajak and Phastos introduce themselves as pilgrims, and while de Soria does not believe them, he respects their privacy.[48]
At Ajak's request, de Soria explains the Reconquista and de Fitero says they could've used the "black powder", but de Soria says they do not know how to use it. Ajak asked why they have it, and de Fitero explains that it is so that Moors are not the only ones to have it and they will not learn how to use it before them. De Soria fears that other countries will learn how to use it.[48]
As de Soria leaves, Ajak mentions to Phastos how she worries of the progression of war machines. Phastos is astonished that they already figured out gunpowder.[48]
Phastos talks about showing Humans "fire medicine" back in the day, he had no idea it would turn into gunpowder. Phastos wonders if they are doing more harm than good.[48]
A Deviant that looks like a bear reveals itself, frightening the nearby civilians.[48]
Ajak reminds him not to interfere. Phatsos claims that's not what he meant, but Ajak stops him saying that their mission is to protect them from the Deviants.[48]
Meanwhile, a Deviant shaped like a bear attacks the city.[48]
The bear-shaped Deviant corners a man in an alley.[48]
De Fitero interrupts saying that he didn't mean to eavesdrop, thinking that Phastos was questioning a mission from God. However, they are interrupted by a loud noise, prompting Ajak and Phastos to run off to find Deviants attacking. Phastos tells de Fitero to go help the villagers.[48]
Ajak wonders how the Deviants tracked them there, and they agree need to calm the villagers down since their running makes it easier for the Deviants to pick them off. Ajak heals a wounded villager while Phastos shoots a Deviant. Phastos realizes that the Deviants are targeting them and not humans, confusing him. Ajak says that it has happened before in Japan and in Korea.[48]
The large bear-shaped Deviant attacks, and Phastos realizes it's not trying to eat them or use its claws. Ajak realizes that it grows new limbs and says that it is acting possessed. Suddenly, a knight jumps in and scolds the Deviants while attacking them. The Deviants then retreat.[48]
Phastos thanks the man and asks who he is. The knight says they already know him while removing his helmet, revealing himself as de Fitero. He says that after seeing them fight, he understands why the Pope wanted them there and thanks them.[48]
Later, de Fitero says he won't reveal anything about their role in the attack. De Soria then meets with them and announces that a big decision was made for de Fitero's future.[48]

A ship with Gilgamesh on it is attacked and destroyed by a Deviant, leaving Gilgamesh stuck in the ocean. Thena makes a deal with a captain to be able to go find him.[48]
Thena helps a Portuguese captain patrol through the South Atlantic Ocean. The captain is astonished that Thena knows which current to take and says that the king will make Thena rich if she manages to reach the new world. Thena reminds him that she does not want the gold, just their ship. Thena finds a shipwreck off in the distance, she wants to find at least one survivor, but the captain remarks that the ship was torn to pieces. Suddenly, a crew member yells that there is a man overboard.[48]
When they look over, they find Gilgamesh on the shipwreck. He notifies them that the Deviant killed all the men before leaving. Thena is confused on why it did not attack Gilgamesh, and realizes it's hiding.[48]
The aquatic Deviant then grabs Gilgamesh and drags him underwater. On board the ship, the crew members fear for the Kraken. Thena tells them it is not there for Humans, but rather for her. She attacks it, impressing the captain. Thena takes an anchor and lets it guide her deep into the ocean very fast. She then stabs the Kraken with her spear. Gilgamesh punches a tentacle while Thena gets caught in one. She throws the anchor into the Kraken's mouth, choking it.[48]
Running out of breath, Gilgamesh grabs the anchor and lets it pull him up the surface, but the rope snaps. Gilgamesh finally makes it to the surface, taking a large breath. When he looks around, he finds the captain on a raft with the boat leaving. The captain explains that the crew threw him overboard. Thena is carried up to the surface by the Kraken and slices its tentacles. Gilgamesh takes the captain's shotgun and shoots the Kraken. The two Eternals chase the Kraken as it falls to the bottom of the ocean. The Kraken releases ink and leaves with no trail.[48]
Thena realizes that the Deviants were driven by something more powerful than themselves.[48]
The Deviant sees the people charging at it and attacks the people. A Master of the Mystic Arts uses a Tao Mandalas against the Deviant, but ultimately falls. Ikaris sees that something is wrong and notifies Sersi. He jokingly says that Deviants can make themselves uglier, while he punches it. Sersi tells Ikaris to be careful around the wall, which she wants to see finished. Ikaris tells her that walls are never finished, they are always rebuilt.[48]
Ikaris punches the Deviant while Sersi tells him to move his head before she throws a dagger at it, slicing its tongue. Sersi runs for an injured man, but the Deviant goes to attack her. Ikaris grabs its tail right before it bites Sersi and resumes hitting it.[48]
Sersi is nudged by the young dragon. The dragon gives her a look before flying to the Deviant. They are involved in an aerial fight and get struck by lightning. Both combatants fall to the ground, but Ikaris flies through the Deviant before it hits the water.[48]
Sersi holds the dragon's tooth in her hand and asks how much longer the war will last. Ikaris promises it will end soon, but tells her to ease their pain first, as he looks at the deceased dragon. Ikaris then flies up high and announces that he will avenge the people.[48]
The two Eternals find the Deviant's trail out of the water into a mountain. They break in and find a Deviants Nest. Ikaris has Sersi contact the rest of the Eternals.[48]
Sersi says she can barely hold the incoming Deviants at bay. Ikaris is then strangled by the Kraken and dragged into the water. Sersi takes a part of the water and transforms it into an ice dagger. She then stabs the Kraken, allowing Ikaris to break free. He meets with Sersi and thanks her.[48]
The rest of the Eternals finally arrive and start fighting. Sprite sees that they are united in their attack, which worries Phastos. Druig notices the Kappa in the back. He realizes that it stole his powers and have been mind controlling the other Deviants for five hundred years. Ajak resolves that the Kappa must be beaten so that the rest will fall. She tells Ikaris to kill it, but he is preoccupied with another Deviant.[48]
Makkari races past a Deviant to stop it from attacking Druig while Gilgamesh punches one, hoping to clear a path for her. Thena remarks how the Kappa is strong, but she is an Eternal, and the world is under their protection. She then uses her axe to impale the Kappa's skull. The Kappa and the rest of the Deviants fall.[48]
Makkari tells Thena to do it again, but Thena says that she does not want to have to.[48]
Days later, Haldier decides that he will bring it back from the Old Mine. Loki overhears him, and comes up with his own plan to steal the cup, making Haldier as a liar.[105]
Loki is chased by Brunok, the son of Haldier, because Loki insulted his father. Thor stops the chase by grabbing the two of them. Loki suggests they hold a contest of virtue, cleverness and skill the next day to settle the matter, and that they should choose teams.[105]
Thor states that the contest will follow the traditional rules of the Virtue Challenge, which they all passed when they became adults. Thor, Loki, and Sif go to the Treasureyard of the Wolves, where they experience there deepest fears. Sif sees herself alone, Loki sees himself and his friends dying, and Thor sees himself being ridiculed. Thor overcomes the fear and retrieves a bone. Sif, Thor, and Loki arrive, and start the trek to retrieve the egg themselves. The Warriors Three get attacked by wolves, who are angry with Volstagg for having stolen a second bone for their team. While Sif retrieves two eggs, Volstagg returns the bone. Sif gives Volstagg her second egg and the two groups team up. The two teams arrive at the mine, where Sif takes one piece of gold and Volstagg tries to take many, but Fandral scolds him. Brunok's team, consisting of himself, Siegrold, and Hilda, arrive and declare a race to Asgard for victory.[105]
Loki steals the Cup of Glory and shows the others, who try to steal it for themselves. This leads to a duel in which Thor uses Mjølnir to summon lightning, causing everyone to be trapped in the mine.[105]
Fandral tells the cup's story, and the three teams decide to end the Virtue Challenge and return to Asgard together, so that Odin could decide what to do with the cup.[105]
Battle for the Cup of Glory: They are interrupted by Haldier, who attempts to steal the cup from them. He throws Thor off of a cliff and retrieves the cup, but Thor returns and knocks it out of his hand. Thor forgives Haldier for his actions and they return the cup to Asgard.[105]
Odin destroys the cup and has it dispersed throughout the galaxy, as a reminder not to give into greed and so that the cup can never be reunited.[105]
Thor, Loki, Sif, and the Warriors Three sit around the campfire and discuss living legends. They forgive Loki for engineering the Virtue Challenge and discuss their own status as legends.[105]
Ikaris flies around the ruins of Babylon and into the Domo. Gilgamesh and Thena ask him if he is ready to go, and he says that he will be soon. Gilgamesh reports that the Deviants have been quiet for a long time, wondering if there are any left. Thena insists that they make sure, which Ikaris agrees with. He asks if they have seen Sersi. Gilgamesh says that she is gathering up lifelong mementos and trinkets, but he is not sure where she is.[48][106]
Gilgamesh suggests Ikaris to ask Makkari as she speeds in. Ikaris asks her and she says she will check the Domo, leaving before Ikaris can thank her.[48][106]
Makkari stops behind Kingo and asks him if he has seen Sersi. Kingo says that she could be anywhere, as she keeps her items all over the Domo. Makkari then speeds away before Kingo could talk anymore.[48][106]
Makkari keeps running until she saw herself in front of her. Confused, she stops and sees that it is just Sprite as an illusion of her. Sprite starts laughing and teases Makkari. Makkari asks Sprite if she has seen Sersi, so Sprite points Makkari in Sersi's direction. Makkari thanks Sprite and takes off, continuing her search.[48][106]
Ajak tells Phastos that running a global survey to find Deviants would be wise. Phastos agrees, wondering if there are any active Deviants remaining. Ajak explains that they will continue their work until they are told to stop. She tells Phastos to make sure that the ship is operational so that they can return at a moment's notice. Phastos assures Ajak that the systems of the Domo will run for another ten thousand years. Makkari runs in and Ajak asks if she is looking for Sersi. Phastos tells her to try the vaults. Makkari thanks the pair and runs off.[48][106]
Makkari arrives in the vaults to find Sersi, who guesses that she is keeping everyone waiting. Sersi continues to sort out her items, talking about her keepsakes and wishing for a museum where they can be displayed. Makkari says that the sword Sersi is holding belongs to her. Sersi insists it isn't hers, but also says that she does not know where it is from.[48][106]
Makkari claims that Sersi stole it and it is Japanese. Sersi says that it seems to be five hundred years old, when Druig chimes in, saying that he remembers the sword well. Druig says that it came from Heian-Kyo at the start of a war they fought for five hundred years. Sersi is unconvinced, so Sprite appears and sets up an illusion of the event, despite Druig's protests. Guided by Sprite's illusions, Druig explains the events which happened to them fighting the Kappa. He concludes the story by saying that their fight was the end of a long war.[48][106]
Kingo then recognizes the Samguk Sagi Kumiho and asks Sprite if she remembers it. Her face lights up in joy as she explains that she got it from a country in the east. Kingo says it's the ancient record of the three kingdoms of Korea, but the scroll is the redacted notes on the Kumiho. Sprite says that it is her turn to tell the story and tells them about their adventure in Korea. She concludes the story by speculating that her casting an illusion of Korea's history is why Kim Bu-Sik was able to create a detailed history. Thena remarks that it was the first time they saw Deviants manipulate cosmic energy. She then wishes they would've known what it meant for them in the long run.[48][106]
Phastos finds a Reconquista Helmet, recalling Ajak's involvement in a fight in the country which would later be known as Spain. As Ajak begins reminiscing, Sprite casts illusions of what happened. As Ajak concludes the story, she says that the events were another clue to their war.[48][106]
Thena to remarks how they all shared concerns about humanity's development with gunpowder. She also brings up how she had her own encounter with gunpowder in 1520, and with Sprite's help, explains that it brought them closer to the end of their 500 Year War and that they realized the true strength of the Deviants. Sprite teases Gilgamesh, saying that their fight with the Kraken is the reason he refused to go near the sea. Sersi realizes that it prepared the Eternals for the Prime Deviant. Ikaris remarks how it was surprising, but disappointing. He takes out the Chimera de Arezzo and tells the story on how they ended the war.[48][106]
Sprite ends the story stating that they lived happily ever after. She then second guesses her statement and says that they won that war. Thena tells her they won every war. Druig tells her that that war was a learning experience. Ajak says that they won and they will win every war after that because they are there to protect humans. The Eternals look at each other with pride.[48][106]
Sersi apologizes to Makkari and hands her the sword, saying that it is hers. Makkari tells her to hold on to it. Sprite asks if they will ever end the war with the Deviants and live happy ever after. Sersi says that she doesn't know, as danger keeps returning to them. She concludes that while she does not know about "happy", they will live "ever after."[48][106]
War rages on in the city as a little girl looks around, seeing the city get destroyed. Soldiers tear down a statue, which is about to fall on the girl before Makkari runs in and saves her. She then runs into the forest and walks beside Thena.[1][107]
They greet Ajak, Druig, Sersi, Phastos, and Sprite. Ajak asks where the others are to which Makkari responds saying they split up because there was more Deviants then they expected. Phastos announces that with these last Deviants, they would all be extinct.[1][107]
Druig hears the war raging in the forest, so he attempts to mind control them to stop. However, Ajak tells him not to interfere in their wars. Druig response it isn't war, but genocide. He blames Phastos for inventing weapons that are too deadly. Phastos argues that it's part of their evolution and he cannot stop it. Druig rebuts, saying that he is the one with the power to stop it.[1][107]
Meanwhile, Thena starts feeling sick as her temple glows. She exclaims that it is too late and everyone is going to die. He eyes turn white as she creates a weapon and stabs Sersi. Makkari gets Sersi away from the action while Thena attacks Phastos. Makkari drags Thena across the forest, but stops when Thena stabs her many times. The two are sent rolling on the ground.[1][107]
Thena gets up and attempts to kill Makkari, but her spear is blocked by Ajak's hand. Ajak attempts to help Thena remember who she is, but it does not work. Thena attacks Ajak and penetrates her stomach. Ajak falls to the ground as Gilgamesh runs in and grabs Thena. He battles Thena while pleading for her to stop and Ajak heals herself.[1][107]
Kingo arrives and notices Ajak healing Makkari. He rushes over to ask if Makkari is alright, and Ajak nods.[1][107]
Gilgamesh pleads with Thena to come back to them, but she attacks. He then punches Thena hard enough to knock her out then quickly comes to her aid.[1][107]
Ajak heals the injured Eternals and they lay Thena down in the temple. Sersi says that she believed Mahd Wy'ry to be a myth, and Phastos says that people don't talk about it due to the lack of cure. Thena wakes up, and Ajak tells her that the Mahd Wy'ry caused her to forget herself and attack her friends.[1][107]
Ajak says that she will take Thena back to the Domo to have her memory reset. Thena pleads with her leader, saying she does not want to forget. Ajak tells her that she does not need to remember, because she will always be Thena. Druig speaks up asking why she would trust her while Ajak is asking her erase who she is. Druig yells at Ajak for making him watch humans destroy each other when he could fix it all in a heartbeat.[1][107]
Druig turns to the burning city and says that they, like the soldiers, are pawns to their leaders, blinded by loyalty. He then starts to take over the whole city, making them drop their weapons, but Ikaris grabs him. Druig tells Ajak that if he wants to stop him, he will have to kill him. Druig then walks down the temple, controlling everyone in the city to stop fighting, walking away with them.[1][107]
Gilgamesh says that he will watch over Thena, even if he might have to kill her when she attacks. Ajak announces that she is breaking up the Eternals because there are no more Deviants. She tells them to live lives for themselves and find their own purposes. She asks them to tell her what they find when they reunite.[1][107]

Druig establishes a village in the Amazon Rainforest, where he considers taking control of all of humanity to make them stop fighting. However, he decides against it, realizing that humanity's flaws are what make them human. He focuses his efforts on the residents of his own village, protecting them.[1][107]
Having received a vision from Chaac, a Mayan shaman jumps into the water and swims under, coming across a plant sprouting from a blue rock. He crushes the plant into a medicine.[23][112]
Following the instructions of their shaman they go after a plant that would heal them. Fen, pregnant with her son, is hesitant to take it. The shaman has a bracelet made for her with material from the plant and gives it to her, telling her that the baby is sick and only the plant can heal him. He promises to make her son their king, so she ingests the plant.[23][112]
Fen stands on the beach and looks out to the water.[23][112]
Ch'ah Toh Almehen is born to Fen in the waters of Yucatán with the help of a midwife. The midwife takes notes of his winged ankles and hand him to Fen, who hugs him.[23][112]
As they surface to bury her, they witness Spanish soldiers enslaving indigenous people as they turn their attention to the Talokanil. Ch'ah Toh Almehen flies and has the Talokanil burn the village to the ground. Ch'ah Toh Almehen and the Talokanil bury their Fen. One of the victims, a priest, uses his dying words to call Ch'ah Toh Almehen a child without love, "el niño sin amor." Liking the sound of it, he decides to go by Namor.[23][112]
In Salem, Massachusetts, Agatha Harkness is dragged to a pyre and tied down. Evanora Harkness asks if Agatha is a witch, and Agatha says that she is. Evanora says that she has betrayed her coven and practiced dark magic. Agatha denies knowledge of the crimes. Evanora tells her to stop the deception, so Agatha insists that she did not break Evanora's rules, but rather that the rules bent to her power.[122][123]
The witches begin chanting, and Agatha insists that she cannot control her magic, begging them to teach her, calling for her mother. The witches attempt to drain her life force, but Agatha utilizes her dark magic to reverse the direction of the spell and drain the life force of all the witches.[122][123]
Evanora attempts to drain her own life force, but Agatha breaks free of her bonds and kills all the witches except Evanora. Agatha pleads with her mother, insisting that she can be good, but her mother says that she cannot. Evanora again attempts to drain her life force, but Agatha instead drains Evanora's, killing her.[122][123]
Agatha Harkness approaches her mother's corpse and takes her brooch. She uses her magic to fly away.[122][123]
Sif wakes up to find that Loki had cut off a piece of her hair. She finds Loki and slaps him. She says that he deserves to be alone and always will be. Sif knees Loki's groin and punches him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. He rights himself.[85][128]
Loki has a hot bath and a glass of wine, thinking nothing of the prank.[85][128]

While in Macedonia with Sprite, Kingo grows tired of having to move whenever people notice that she does not age. So, Kingo leaves her behind, upsetting Sprite.[1][129]
As democracies and global movements rise, so does war. Sokovia is caught in the crossfire repeatedly of European war, being in between places of note, and unable to avoid conflict.[136][14][18]
Sersi uses her powers to turn a rock into air.[1][142]

Thena asks Gilgamesh why he chose to protect her. Gilgamesh tells Thena that protecting the people you love is the most natural thing in the world.[1][143]
In the cover of night, various Ten Rings members sneak into a castle and assassinate a European political figure by stabbing him and throwing him over the castle walls.[46][155]
Leaves of Grass is first published, containing the line "In this broad earth of ours, Amid the measureless grossness and the slag, Enclosed and safe within its central heart, Nestles the seed perfection."[43][1]
Sand Creek Massacre: Around seven hundred men of one of the militias of the United States Military slaughter a peaceful village of Cheyenne in Sand Creek, Colorado, killing and mutilating around one hundred Native Americans, mostly women and children. The militiamen waited for the men of the tribe to leave the village, and they attacked the families left behind to claim their land.[148][43]
↑The age of the universe in 2018 is estimated to be 13.799 billion years, to 5 significant figures. 13,799,000,000 years before 2018 puts the beginning of the universe very approximately at 13,798,997,983 B.C. - or c. 13,800,000,000 B.C. to 4 significant figures (to signify that it is a scientific approximation).
↑ 10.010.110.2In the history of the Power Stone, between the dawn of the universe and 2014, the Celestials used it on planets, eight members of the Power Stone Group failed to use it, and it was taken to Morag. The Celestials were using it any time after the first planets were in existence, from c. 12,800,000,000 B.C., and it arrived on Morag by 1714, the last time the tide was down on Morag before 2014. Distributing the three events between these limits as a very broad approximation, the Celestials can be taken to have used the Power Stone on planets c. 9,600,000,000 B.C., then the cosmic beings failing with it c. 6,400,000,000 B.C., and it being hidden on Morag c. 3,200,000,000 B.C..
↑The Earth is estimated to be 4.54 billion years old.
↑In Eternals, Arishem the Judge says about Ajak on October 15, 2024 (see 2024 references), "She has helped many Celestials to emerge over millions of years. So have you." "Millions" would technically refer to a minimum of 2 million years, and a maximum realistically of 9.99999. It can be up to 19.99999, which is just before it becomes "tens of millions", so a weighted average means the maximum is roughly 13.33333 million years. This would mean that "millions" strictly refers to approximately, to find the midpoint, (2 + 13.33333) ÷ 2 = 7.66667 million years.
However, it is rare for people to refer to "tens of millions" or "hundreds of millions", and this needs to be taken into account - that Arishem may simply be referring to any number ending in "millions" (be it units, tens, or hundreds). The middle of these is tens of millions, which is absolute minimum 10 and realistic minimum 20, to realistic maximum 99.99999 and absolute maximum 199.99999. Therefore, with weighted averages, it is roughly minimum 16.66667 million years, maximum 133.33333 years, and the midpoint of these is (16.66667 + 133.33333) ÷ 2 = 75 million years. It can therefore be taken that the Eternals were created 75 million years before 2024, so in approximately 75,000,000 B.C..
↑In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wong says in 2024, "Eons ago, the first demon, Chthon, carved his dark magic into this tomb." An "eon" can be used to refer to 1 billion years, but it is unlikely that the castle was built over a billion years before the existence of humanity. It is likely at least much closer to the existence of humanity, in the last 2 million years or so. Marvel Studios' The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline places it before the vibranium meteorite's arrival, which is known to be c. 2,500,000 B.C. (see other references), so it can be taken that Wundagore was also carved around that period, as close as possible to the evolution of homo habilis while being before the meteorite as per the book.
↑In Black Panther, N'Jobu says, "Millions of years ago, a meteorite made of vibranium, the strongest substance in the universe, struck the continent of Africa, affecting the plant life around it." In The Art of Black Panther, it is specified, "To understand Mount Bashenga is to understand Wakanda. A meteorite consisting primarily of vibranium collided with Earth about 2.5 million years ago at what is now Wakanda." 2,500,000 years before the events of Black Panther in 2016 gives roughly 2,497,985 B.C. - or c. 2,500,000 B.C. to 3 significant figures (to signify that it is an approximation).
↑In Black Panther, N'Jobu says, "When the time of men came, five tribes settled on it and called it "Wakanda"." Looking at the evolution of human intelligence, this is most likely what is estimated in 2018 to have been 30,000 years ago. 30,000 years before 2018 gives roughly 27,983 B.C. - or c. 28,000 B.C. to 3 significant figures (to signify that it is a rough approximation with a scientific factor).
↑ 27.027.127.227.3In Thor: The Dark World, Odin says, "We are not gods. We are born, we live, we die. Just as humans do," to which Loki replies, "... Give or take 5000 years." The implication from this is that Asgardians live approximately 5000 years longer than humans. It is also known that Asgardians age at the same rate as humans until adulthood, before their ageing slows down. Based on weighted averages of Tom Hiddleston (whose figures have less weight, considering Loki is not actually Asgardian, but ages at a rate very close to them) and Chris Hemsworth's ages when they shot the films they feature in, and weighted averages of the dates those films are set, working with Loki's known date of birth in 965 A.D. and Thor's known date of birth around 964 A.D., and then taking another weighted average of these two actors/characters' figures, the result is that Asgardians age like humans up to roughly the age of 20.4, before ageing about 99.3 × slower. The exact details are explained in detail here.
↑Based on the Asgardian ageing calculations (see other references), Bor would have been born around late 5244 B.C., Odin around mid-3480 B.C., and Hela around early 679 B.C.. This means that Bor had Odin, his first born, at around 1763.7 years old, and Odin had Hela, his first born, at around 2800.6 years old. A weighted average of these gives 2109.4, which can be used as an approximation for Buri's age when he had his first born, Bor. 2109.4 years before late 5244 B.C. places Buri's birth around mid-7353 B.C.. The exact details are explained here.
↑In Guardians of the Galaxy, Ego says in 2014, "Over thousands of years, I implanted thousands of extensions of myself." In Marvel Studios' The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline, it is also stated that by "1980", Ego had done "thousands of years of planting seeds". So, he began "thousands of years" before 1980-2014 (c. 1997). "Thousands" would strictly refer to a minimum of 2000 years, and a maximum of 9999.99 - though definitely up to 19,999.99, just before it becomes "tens of thousands". So a weighted average of roughly maximum 13,333.333 years. Finding the midpoint, this would mean that "thousands" could refer very approximately to (2000 + 13,333.333) ÷ 2 = 7666.667 years, suggesting that Ego began approximately 7667 years before c. 1997, around 5671 B.C. - or c. 5700 B.C. to 2 significant figures (rounding to signify that it is only a very rough approximation).
↑Tony Curran was around 42.9 when he filmed his scenes for Thor: The Dark World. These scenes are set in late 2988 B.C., 5000 years before November 2013. Based on the Asgardian ageing calculations (see other references), the result is that Asgardians age like humans up to roughly the age of 20.4, before ageing about 99.3 × slower. Tony Curran's age in human years would therefore make Bor around 2256.0 in actual years. Working back from late 2988 B.C., Bor would have been born around late 5244 B.C.. The exact details are explained here.
↑In Eternals, Druig says, "I've watched humans destroy each other, when I could stop it all in a heartbeat. Do you know what that does to someone over centuries?" Druig and the rest of the Eternals arrived on Earth in 5000 B.C., and Druig implies that he started to become overwhelmed by guilt centuries later. "Centuries" would technically refer to a minimum of 200 years, and a maximum of 999.99999 - up to 1999.99999, just before it becomes "milennia", so a weighted average of roughly maximum 1333.33333. This would mean that "centuries" strictly refers to approximately (200 + 1333.33333) ÷ 2 = 766.66667 years, suggesting that Druig became overwhelmed by guilt in 4233 B.C..
↑In Marvel Studios' The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline, a period of particular development and withdrawal in Wakanda is referenced around the 5000-2988 B.C. part of the book, with wiggle room. In MPower, it is shown that in 5000 B.C., Wakanda began its new era manipulating vibranium, while by 3000 B.C. they were building the first palace and developed with vibranium. This therefore puts the development period and withdrawal around c. 4000 B.C., which fits the point in the book.
"The Ancient One is the latest in a long line of Sorcerer Supreme, going back thousands of years to the father of the Mystic Arts, the mighty Agamotto. The same sorcerer who created the Eye you so recklessly borrowed."
In Doctor Strange, Wong says that Agamotto founded the Masters of the Mystic Arts "thousands" of years ago. In Marvel Studios' The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline, it is placed between the Eternals' arrival in 5000 B.C. and the Dark Elves' loss in 2988 B.C., and close to the beginning of Ancient Egyptian civilization c. 3100 B.C. (see other references), suggesting it is c. 4000 B.C. - fitting as "thousands" of years before 2017.
↑ 35.035.1A weighted average of Anthony Hopkins' ages when shooting the films in which he appears is 75.5, and the weighted average of the dates on which the films are set is November 19, 2013. Based on the Asgardian ageing calculations (see other references), the result is that Asgardians age like humans up to roughly the age of 20.4, before ageing about 99.3 × slower. Anthony Hopkins' age in human years would therefore make Odin around 5492.3 in actual years on the averaged date. Working back from November 2013, Odin would have been born around mid-3480 B.C.. The exact details are explained here.
In Thor: Ragnarok, set in 2017, Thor jokes that Odin defeated Surtur "like, half a million years ago". This is not literally possible, as in Thor: The Dark World, Odin says, "We are not gods. We are born, we live, we die. Just as humans do," to which Loki replies, "... Give or take 5000 years." The implication from this is that Asgardians live approximately 5000 years longer than humans, and this matches what we see in Thor, where Odin is shown to be roughly a decade or so younger in 965 A.D. than in 2010, 1045 years later - also proving that Odin does not have an especially longer lifespan than other Asgardians. Loki's dialogue also matches nicely with the understanding that Asgardians age at a normal human rate until adulthood before slowing down significantly, as it lines up perfectly with Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston's ages when calculated. Overall, it can be assumed that Thor's jokey nature when he says the line goes to show he knows he is exaggerating the dates. The earliest this event can possibly be, with Odin's date of birth calculated for mid-3480 B.C. (see other references), is late 3460 B.C., when Odin is 20 (by both human and Asgardian age, the approximate age at which Asgardians reach adulthood) - only 5476 years before Thor: Ragnarok.
↑In Eternals, Sersi says that she and Ikaris were together for "five thousand years." They are approximated to have broken up in 1923 (see 1920s references). "Five thousand years" could refer to exactly five thousand years, which would mean they got together in 3077 B.C.. However, it could also refer more generally to having gotten together during the 3070s B.C., during the 3100s B.C., or during the millennium of the 4000s B.C.. A weighted calculation places the start of their relationship in 3113 B.C..
↑In Marvel Studios' The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline, a period of gods becoming known is placed around the 5000-2988 B.C. part of the book, with wiggle room. The focus is on the Egyptian gods, and these are the only gods whose presence makes sense in that period before 2988 B.C., so the referenced events can be placed at the beginning of Ancient Egyptian civilization: c. 3100 B.C..
↑In Eternals, Ajak says in 575 B.C., "I respect your grand design, Arishem, but I have noticed something special about this planet." This can be taken to have occurred between 575 B.C. and the Eternals' arrival in 5000 B.C.. This revelation can therefore be approximated to the midpoint of those dates, 2787 B.C..
↑ 47.047.1In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Ying Nan says, "Our people have been here for over 4,000 years preparing for something we hope will never happen." This could refer to anywhere from 4,000 years and 1 day through 4,999 years and 364 days. It can therefore be approximated that the Dweller-in-Darkness was defeated approximately 4500 years before Ying's line is said on April 2, 2024. The attack can therefore be approximated to have happened in 2476 B.C.
↑In Eternals: 500-Year War Infinity Comic, Phastos says on "June 29, 1238 CE" that he taught humans fire medicine "back in the day." This can be approximated to have happened between then and the Eternals' arrival in 5,000 B.C., and can therefore be placed at the midpoint, 1881 B.C..
↑ 53.053.153.2Cate Blanchett was around 47.3 when she filmed Thor: Ragnarok, and the film is set around September 2017. Based on the Asgardian ageing calculations (see other references), the result is that Asgardians age like humans up to roughly the age of 20.4, before ageing about 99.3 × slower. Cate Blanchett's age in human years would therefore make Hela around 2695.5 in actual years. Working back from September 2017, Hela would have been born around early 679 B.C.. The exact details are explained here.
↑ 54.054.154.2Cate Blanchett is quoted as saying that Hela was imprisoned for 5000 years. This is not quite possible, as in Thor: The Dark World, Odin says, "We are not gods. We are born, we live, we die. Just as humans do," to which Loki replies, "... Give or take 5000 years," implying an Asgardian's entire lifespan to be around 5070 years. For Hela to have been imprisoned for 5000 years, she would have to have been a child when imprisoned, and an elderly woman now - and even if she had not aged in her imprisonment for whatever reason, she would have to be a few thousand years old when she was imprisoned, which would have been only a few hundred years after Odin, her father's birth. On top of this, Marvel Studios' The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline states that Hela's imprisonment occurred in "The Common Era", i.e. no earlier than 1 A.D.. Overall, it can be assumed that Hela was imprisoned for a couple thousand years, as long as possible while still being within these constraints. The earliest this event can possibly be, given the "The Common Era" date, is therefore for it to occur 1 A.D. - only 2016 years before Thor: Ragnarok, not 5000. This means that Odin's conquest with Hela occurred somewhere between her childhood in the 670s B.C. (see other references) and 1 A.D., so c. 330s B.C.. The placement of the conquest in the book is loose and allows for wiggle room, but is roughly before 575 B.C. events. Therefore, the conquest (and Mjølnir being forged with it) can be taken to be "roughly close to 330s B.C. but ideally no later than 575 B.C.", so also around 575 B.C..
↑In Eternals, Ikaris says, "Ajak told me everything when we left Babylon." The Eternals were shown to have been in Babylon in 575 B.C., and are said to have been in Greece "in the fifth century B.C.," so the midpoint of these two days, 513 B.C., can be used to approximate when they left Babylon.
↑In Black Panther, the beginning of the major construction in Wakanda is shown as N'Jobu retells the country's history. Considering the timeline of architecture and Wakanda's advanced prowess, this it the approximate time that they would have been building such constructions.
↑ 59.059.1In Eternals, Sersi tells Dane Whitman that Sprite came up with the story of Icarus, prompting Whitman to reply, "In the fifth century B.C.?" This suggests that the story of Icarus was made in the fifth century B.C. in the MCU. The Eternals' time in Greece, and therefore the creation of the story, can be approximated to the midpoint of the century, approximately 450 B.C..
↑ 62.062.1In Gods and Monsters, Ammit says, "I once relied on a servant whose Scales balanced perfectly. In exchange, I was bound in stone for 2,000 years." However, in The Goldfish Problem, Arthur Harrow says that Alexander the Great was one of the people who betrayed Ammit, and he died on June 10, 323 B.C., 2,347 years prior to Ammit saying it was only 2,000 years. It can be taken that Alexander the Great betrayed Ammit within the last month of his life, placing the betrayal on June 5, 323 B.C. In The Friendly Type, it is said that Senfu was tasked with burying Ammit's ushabti and mapping the location with a star map. The map has the constellation Orion, which is visible from between January and March; Taurus, which while visible from August through April, is best viewed in December and January; and Triangulum, which is visible from March through May. All three constellations are visible in March, suggesting that Senfu buried Ammit's ushabti the March after Alexander the Great's death.
↑Marvel Studios' The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline places the transcription approximately in the area of the Eternals events of 575 B.C., but allows for wiggle room for its exact placement. The Art of WandaVision says that the Darkhold was transcribed in the early days of making books. The history of bookmaking is complicated, but it was only around the 2nd Century A.D. that people (the Romans) were truly starting to more frequently make codices of velum/papyrus, closer resembling books. With this being roughly the closest it can be to that very approximate 575 B.C. placement while fitting the statement about early bookmaking, the transcription can be placed c. 2nd Century A.D., so c. 150 A.D..
↑In Black Panther, as N'Jobu retells Wakanda's history, he tells of how Wakanda thrived as the outside world continued to war, and a time of war involving war elephants is shown. War elephants were used from around 1100 B.C. to the 15th/16th centuries, so around 1500. The middle of 1100 B.C. and 1500 A.D. is 200 A.D.
↑In Eternals: 500-Year War Infinity Comic, the High Priest says, "We've been tracking her for hundreds of years." "Hundreds" can refer to anywhere between 200 years and 999 years, so it can therefore be approximated that the Kumiho started attacking approximately 600 years prior to when the line is said in "1142 CE," so approximately 542 A.D..
"Tell me about this one." "Also from Benin, seventh century. The Fula tribe I believe." "Nah." "I beg your pardon?" "It was taken by British solders in Benin, but it's from Wakanda. And it's made out of Vibranium."
↑ 75.075.1In Thor: Ragnarok, it is shown that the Massacre of the Valkyrie was during Hela's imprisonment, and Thor implies that the Valkyrie were all gone before he was born. Brunnhilde's age is not indicative of how long ago it was, as she may well have aged slower on Sakaar, which is said to be a location where time "runs funny", and where there is no linear correlation to real time. However, Hela looks to be a similar age - as close to her age in Thor: Ragnarok as possible. With this being before Thor's birth in 964 A.D., there is a minimum of 1053 years, about 10.6 human years (as once they reach adulthood, Asgardians age around 99.3 × slower than humans - for full details, see here). It cannot be much longer than this, so is c. 950 A.D..
↑ 76.076.1In Thor, Odin says that Thor is his "firstborn". This is during a time when he is pretending that Loki is his biological son (and that Hela never existed), and so despite Loki not technically being "born" of Odin, this is still a statement showing that Thor is older than Loki. The scene from Thor where they are children is set at a time when the brothers are ageing at the same speed as humans, before they have reached adulthood, and Dakota Goyo and Ted Allpress are very close in age. As well as this, when Thor tells the story in Thor: Ragnarok of how Loki turned into a snake, he finishes by saying, "We were 8 at the time," meaning they are less than a year apart in age. With Asgardians ageing as normal until adulthood, it can be assumed that they also have the same gestation period of around 9 months. Therefore, for the adoption of Loki not to arouse suspicion, the brothers should be at least around 11 months apart - a realistic minimum gap between siblings. Therefore, with Loki's date of birth dated to mid-965 A.D., it can be assumed that Thor was born around mid-964 A.D. Although Thor says in Avengers: Infinity War that he is "fifteen hundred years old" in 2018 (see 2018 references), it must be taken that he is rounding up.
↑ 78.078.178.278.378.4In Thor it is shown that during the Battle of Tønsberg, the Northern Lights are visable in Norway. This typically is only the case between late September and late March, making the battle between January 1st and March 31st or between September 20th and December 31st that same year. It can therefore be approximated to the midpoint, accounting for the gap, March 17, 965 A.D.
↑In Eternals, Gilgamesh says that Odin taught him to make a secret drink "as a thank you after we helped defeat Laufey's army in Tønsberg." This can be taken to have happened the day after the battle.
↑In Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor is shown being carried into battle as an infant. The model for the infant was based on Cameron Chapek, who at the time was described as an "infant." However, Chapek had been born by February 25, 2020, so it can be approximated that Thor is one year old in this scene, placing it in August 965 A.D.
↑ 82.082.1In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and The Making of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, it is repeatedly said that Wenwu found the Ten Rings one thousand years prior to the events of the movie. A weighted calculation would place this event on November 21, 1015. Based on Tony Leung's age when filming the movie, and the amount of time spent without aging due to the Ten Rings, Wenwu can be approximated to have been 47 years old when this happened, placing his birth in approximately July 968.
↑Based on Tristan Hemsworth's age during the filming of Thor: Love and Thunder and working forward from Thor's date of birth, it can be calculated that Thor ran through the forest as a child in 971 A.D.
↑Dakota Goyo, who plays young Thor, was born on August 22, 1999, making him approximately 10.5 at the middle of filming for Thor. With Thor's date of birth dated to approximately mid-964 A.D., this places the scene at roughly early 975 A.D.. Ted Allpress, who plays young Loki, was 9 on May 21, 2009, meaning he was born between May 22, 1999 and May 21, 2000, born in 1999, meaning he was born between January 1, 1999 and December 31, 1999, and likely still 13 on June 18, 2013, suggesting he was born between June 19, 1999 and June 18, 2000. So, Allpress was born approximately between June 19, 1999 and December 31, 1999, around September 24.5, 1999, making him also approximately 10.5 at the middle of filming. With Loki's date of birth dated to mid-965 A.D., this places the scene at roughly late 975 A.D.. Taking a weighted average of the two exact suggested dates gives July 975 A.D. as the approximate date for the flashback scene, making Thor roughly 11.0, and Loki 10.0 in the scene. For full details, see here.
↑In The Nexus Event, events are shown to happen to an alternate version of Loki. Although this timeline is different, it is implied to have followed the main timeline closely until Loki was arrested by the Time Variance Authority. It can therefore be taken that Loki playing with their toys happened in both timelines.
↑In What If... Thor Were an Only Child?, an image is shown of Loki freezing Thor while The Watcher describes Thor's upbringing in the main MCU timeline, implying that the image is from that timeline. They appear older than they are shown to be during a flashback in Thor, but younger than eighteen years old. It can therefore be taken that this occurred between the Thor flashback in 975 A.D. and Thor's eighteenth birthday in 982 A.D., so approximately January 979 A.D..
↑Based on Samson Alston's age during the filming of Thor: Love and Thunder and working forward from Thor's date of birth, it can be calculated that Thor ran through the forest as a teenage in 983 A.D.
↑In Eternals, Dane Whitman guesses that his ring is "from the Middle Ages." The ring's creation can therefore be approximated to the middle of the Middle Ages, approximately 988 A.D..
↑Thanos is roughly 1000 in August 2014, so born around February 1014, and in May 2018, so born around November 1017, so overall he was likely born around late 1015.
↑ 94.094.194.2In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Xu Wenwu is shown attacking the Seljuk Empire, which lasted from 1037 until 1194. Xu attacks an Anatolian-Seljuk style mosque, which were generally built in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. The attack can therefore be taken to have occurred between 1100 and 1194, so approximately 1147. The following scene shows Xu overseeing the Ten Rings train in what appears to be the same castle redecorated, in the aftermath of the battle. The surrounding trees have green leaves, so this can be approximated to between the battle and the following winter, so approximately July 1, 1147.
↑In Werewolf by Night, a sketch is shown of several knights meeting about the Bloodstone. Knights first appeared during Charlemagne's rule, which started in 768 A.D., and were obsolete by the mid-to-late sixteenth century. It can therefore be taken that this meeting happened at approximately the midpoint of these dates, 1171.
↑In Eternals: 500-Year War Infinity Comic, Ajak reveals that she contacted the Pope prior her arrival in Córdoba. This would have happened between when she reveals this on "June 29th, 1238 CE" and when the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba was first converted into a Cathedral on June 29, 1236. This therefore can be take to have happened in the midpoint of these dates, June 29, 1237.
↑The Ancient One is 700 when she dies, which is dated to January 19, 2017, meaning she was born between January 19, 1316 and January 18, 1317, the middle of which is July 1316.
↑In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Xu Wenwu is shown fighting several medieval soldiers with guns. Europe started using guns in the early thirteenth century, so this scene can be approximated to the midpoint of then and the approximate end of medieval times, placing the scene in 1362.
↑On Marvel's 2012 timeline, it is shown that Odin hiding the Tesseract occurred 600 years before "I am Iron Man," which is dated to May 25, 2008 (see 2000s references), placing it around 1408.
↑In Seeing Red, Waleed says "For hundreds of years, that scarf has protected the identity of warriors willing to take the mantle of the Red Dagger" in 2025 (see 2025 references). "Hundreds" can refer to anywhere between 200 years and 999 years, placing the foundation of the Red Daggers in approximately 1425.

The Eternals killed the remaining Deviants on July 4, 1521 (see other references) and separated the same day. It can therefore be taken that this is the day prior, and the sweep led them to Tenochtitlan the following day.
↑Based on María Mercedes Coroy's age during filming of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and working backward from the setting of her scenes, Fen can be approximated to have been born in 1544.
↑ 112.00112.01112.02112.03112.04112.05112.06112.07112.08112.09112.10In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Fen's tribe is shown to have gotten sick and migrated into the water in "1571," when Fen is pregnant with her son, who is born seemingly also in 1571. Fen is then shown to age significantly while her son does not. Fen's death in the script for the movie is said to occur in "1631." Prior to her death, Fen is shown to be substantially older. Based on Irma-Estel Laguerre's age during the filming of the movie and Fen's approximately 1544 year of birth (see other references), this scene can be approximated to 1612. The scene before, in which Fen is still young, can therefore be approximated to the midpoint of her son's birth and this 1612 scene, 1591.
↑In Werewolf by Night, a sketch is shown of a monster left dead on a stump. The image is shown after a meeting of several knights, placed in 1171 (see other references). The narrator of the special says after the sketch appears, "But now, this weapon is in want of a new master, for Ulysses Bloodstone has died." With Bloodstone's death placed on December 4, 2025 (see 2025 references), this fight could have happened at any time between 1171 and 2025. The fight can therefore be approximated to the midpoint of these dates, December 1598.
↑ 120.0120.1120.2120.3Chris Hemsworth portrays a young adult Thor in several flashbacks of Thor: Love and Thunder, including two of him running, one of him smiling at a campfire, one of him kissing a Passionist, and one of him kissing a Wolf Woman. Based on Hemsworth's age when filming his appearances as Thor and the rate at which Asgardians age (see details here), these events can be distributed throughout Thor's adulthood prior to the events of Thor, which start in 2010 (see 2010 references). This places the two scenes of him running in July 1670 and June 1738, the campfire in June 1806, the Passionist in June 1874, and the Wolf Woman in June 1942.
↑ 123.0123.1123.2123.3In Previously On, Agatha Harkness is shown undergoing a witch trial in Salem in "1693." The Salem witch trials ended in May 1693, so Harkness' trial can be taken to have happened between January 1st and May 31st of that year. Harkness' trial can therefore be approximated to the midpoint of these two dates, so approximately March 17th, 1693.
↑In Black Panther, as N'Jobu retells Wakanda's history, he tells of how Wakanda thrived as the outside world continued to war, and a time of war involving wooden ships is shown. This was most common around 1700.
↑ 128.0128.1128.2In The Nexus Event, an alternate version of Loki is shown a memory of something that happened in the main timeline from before the histories of the timelines diverged, in which he has slept with Lady Sif and cut off her hair. In Yes Men, Sif says that she had a husband who died at the hands of Lorelei. Her husband's death is dated to 1413 (see other references). This event also must have been before the events of Thor, since Sif has already developed a contempt for Loki, and any time after then Loki is either thought dead or doing other things. This event can therefore be taken to have happened between 1413 and the beginning of the events of Thor, May 30, 2010 (see 2010 references). The event can therefore can be taken to have happened in March 1712.
↑In Eternals, Sprite gets angry with Kingo for leaving her in Macedonia. The Eternals are shown to have separated in 1521, and Kingo started acting in February 1919 (see 1910s references). Kingo can therefore be taken to have left Sprite behind on approximately the midpoint between these two dates, April 1720.
↑In Marvel Studios' The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline, Sokovia becoming caught in the crossfire of war during global development is placed around the 1693 point of the book/a little after. With major Eastern European wars (War of the Austrian Succession and Seven Years' War) around 1740-1763, it can be taken that this largely refers to the period c. 1750.
↑In Eternals, Druig asks Makkari how she managed to obtain the Emerald Tablet, implying that Makkari retrieved it after the Eternals parted ways on July 4, 1521 (see other references). Makkari is approximated to have started living in the Domo without leaving in May 1987, so she can be taken to have gotten the tablet between those dates. Makkari obtaining the tablet can therefore be approximated to June 1754.
↑In Eternals, Sersi says, "Actually, one time, I turned a rock into air." She says this as though it is a development since the last time she and Kingo had seen each other, which is dated to July 4, 1521. It can therefore be approximated to have happened in the middle of then and the start of Eternals' main events on October 13, 2024 (see 2024 references), since Sersi is not shown making the transformation on screen. Sersi can therefore be estimated to have turned a rock into air on February 21, 1773.
↑In Eternals, Thena mentions having asked Gilgamesh why he chose to protect her. This conversation would have happened between the Eternals parting ways on July 4, 1521 (see other references) and when Gilgamesh and Thena reunite with the Eternals on October 15, 2024 (see 2024 references). This conversation can therefore be approximated to the midpoint of these two dates, February 22, 1773.
↑In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the Ten Rings are shown attacking a figure in what appears to be Napoleonic times. Napoleon was emperor from May 18, 1804 through June 22, 1815, so this scene can be approximated to the midpoint of those dates, December 4, 1809.
↑In Echoes, Kate Bishop says on December 21, 2024, "My, uh, great, great, great, great grandfather built the building," placing six generations between her and the man who built the penthouse. One generation is approximately twenty-five years, so it can be taken that the penthouse was built approximately 150 years before 2024, so in 1874.
↑In Crushed, Yusuf Khan says, "my family has been in Karachi for generations." Karachi is said to have been established in 1729, and Yusuf implies that his family lived in the city before the Partition of India in 1947. It can therefore be approximated that Khan's family moved to Karachi at the midpoint of these two dayes, July 1877. This fits with having been approximately 5.92 generations prior to Khan.
↑In Resurrection, Nick Fury says to Talos, "Not bad for a 136-year-old" on November 3, 2026 (see 2026 references). This means that Talos could have been born any time between November 4, 1889 and November 3, 1890. Talos' birth can be approximated to the midpoint of these dates, May 5, 1890.
