The United Nations Headquarters is a complex in New York City that houses the main headquarters of the United Nations.
History
Brigadier-General Glenn Talbot gave a speech at the United Nations Headquarters where he described the first public appearance of S.H.I.E.L.D. during the Chitauri invasion of New York City. He denounced the organization, saying that S.H.I.E.L.D. abused the public's trusted as it gathered super-powered individuals and acted without supervision.
Italian representative Adamo Dioli protested Talbot's words, asking for proof on his allegations against S.H.I.E.L.D. While speaking, Dioli was hit with a Splinter Bomb and he disintegrated.
As the other delegates fled in terror, security guards approached Marcus Scarlotti and his mercenaries; they were killed while Scarlotti acted as if he worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. When Scarlotti threw a Splinter Bomb towards Glenn Talbot, Talbot was able to escape with a broken arm.
Almost two days later, Massachusetts Senator Christian Ward came to the United Nations Headquarters and revealed to the world that S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA were two separate organizations, one dedicated to law enforcement, the other towards world domination. Christian also revealed that his brother Grant was a traitor and operative of HYDRA. [1]
