- In the comics, Ulysses Klaue's great-grandfather led a group of Dutch soldiers in an attempt to conquer Wakanda, but was killed by the Black Panther, who used a Wakandan device to cause his gatling gun to fatally misfire. His remains, consisting of only one foot in a boot, were sent home to his family, eventually leading to his great-grandson's hatred of Wakandans.
