Secretary of State[]
United Nations Summit[]
The State Secretary attended the United Nations summit in Geneva, regarding Wakanda and its vibranium supplies. As Ramonda arrived at the summit, the State Secretary spoke to the other representatives, sharing the United States' disappointment, since Wakanda did not stand by the late T'Challa's promises of fully joining the international community. He remarked that Wakanda refuses to participate in global efforts to tackle international challenges and foils any cooperation that concerns vibranium. His sentiments were echoed by the Foreign Minister of France, however, Ramonda then revealed that Wakanda had foiled France's attempt to pillage Wakandan Outreach Center in Mali.[1]
CIA Consultations[]
- "President wants to take offensive action against Wakanda."
"What type of offensive action?"
"Destabilization." - ―U.S. State Secretary and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine[src]
In the wake of a series of events that supposedly involved Wakanda, U.S. President James Ritson considered taking offensive action against the country, namely destabilization, and sent the State Security to consult with the CIA. Together with the Defense Secretary, the State Secretary met with Valentina Allegra de Fontaine and Everett Ross at the George Bush Center for Intelligence to discuss Wakanda's refusal to sell vibranium. The State Secretary brought up the fact that Wakandans abducted Riri Williams who created the Vibranium Detector but Ross claimed that they simply approached Williams as a part of their outreach program, and the FBI should not have tried to capture Princess Shuri.
The State Secretary then informed them that Ritson was considering destabilizing the region, so de Fontaine endorsed Ross as the agency's Wakanda expert. Ross advised the State Secretary that attacking Wakanda would be a mistake since his sources claimed that another party was at play and responsible for the incidents in Atlantic and Cambridge. The State Secretary questioned if it was another highly advanced nation, which Ross could not confirm, so he asked for more time to properly investigate the situation. Ross stated that if they should act now, the United States would be risking entering the war with Wakanda and when the State Secretary asked for Fontaine's input, she reluctantly supported Ross' stance.[1]
