Tyr is the Commander of the Einherjar, the Asgardian Army.

Reporting to King Odin

Tyr became Commander of the Asgardian army, the Einherjar. During the Sacking of Asgard by the Dark Elves, he was placed in charge of guarding Jane Foster. After Sif broke Foster out, Tyr reported this fact to Odin.[1]

Powers and Abilities


  • Asgardian Physiology: As an Asgardian, Tyr possesses all of the various superhuman attributes common among his people, including superhuman strength, durability, speed, agility, stamina, reflexes, healing, and was extremely long-lived.
    • Superhuman Strength: Like all Asgardians, Tyr possesses great superhuman strength, numerous times stronger than any normal human being.
    • Superhuman Durability: Tyr's body is numerous times more resistant to physical and energy damage than any normal human being.
    • Superhuman Speed: Tyr can run and move at great superhuman speed, much faster than any normal human being.
    • Superhuman Agility: Tyr naturally possesses far greater agility, equilibrium, flexibility, dexterity, balance, and body coordination than any normal human being.
    • Superhuman Stamina: Tyr's advanced musculature produces considerably fewer fatigue toxins during physical activity than any normal human being. His endurance allows him to exercise his maximum capacity for an extremely long period of time without tiring at all.
    • Superhuman Reflexes: Tyr can react and dodge objects traveling at high speeds, much quicker than any normal human being.
    • Regenerative Healing Factor: Despite his body's resistance, Tyr can still be injured like any other Asgardian. However, his metabolism enables him to rapidly regenerate damaged bodily tissue with far greater speed and efficiency than any normal human being.
    • Longevity: Tyr, like all other Asgardians, is not truly immortal. It is possible to kill an Asgardian and other beings in the Nine Realms. More accurately, Asgardians are extremely long-lived beings, Tyr ages at a pace far slower than any normal human being, being able to live for thousands of years.


  • Master Combatant: As the commander of the Einherjar, Tyr is a highly skilled and formidable hand-to-hand combatant, having received extensive training in unarmed combat as well as having centuries of combat experience, making him one of the most powerful and best warriors in Asgard. He has demonstrated this while training with Sif.

  • Expert Tactician: As the commander of the Einherjar, Tyr is in charge of designing attack and defense plans whenever the army is deployed to counter any threats that Asgard may face.
  • Bilingualism: Tyr is fluent in his native Asgardian and English.







  • In the comics, Tyr is Odin and Frigga's son and Thor's brother, worshipped as the Asgardian God of War.
  • In Germanic mythology, Tyr was originally the chief sky god later replaced by Odin due to the latter's increasing popularity over time.
  • In Viking Mythology, Týr is Odin and Hróðr’s son and Thor’s half brother, workshipped as the God of War, Victory, Law, Justice, Trial, Heroic Glory, Honor, Courage, Oaths, Authority and Duels. Fenrir the Wolf, son of Loki and Angrboða ate his right arm for safety of Ásgarðr.
