- ―Tuklo
Tuklo is the third episode of the first season of Echo.
Synopsis[]
Maya learns the meaning of collateral damage as Fisk's ruthless army arrives in Tamaha, Oklahoma.
Plot[]
In the late 1800s, the Native tribes were in danger due to the criminals infesting their terrirory, so they established the Lighthorsemen to bring them to justice. Tuklo, who had exceptional talents, wanted to become a Lighthorseman and protect her lands as well, but her father Chen-Ke was against it, claiming that a woman's calling is giving life, not taking it. However, it did not discourage Tuklo, so when Chen-Ke and his team were ambushed by the criminals, Tuklo found out about it by connecting to the power of her ancestors. Armed with a rifle, she came to save her father and gunned down the criminals on her own.
Chula Battiest comes to meet Skully at his pawnshop, telling him that Maya Lopez is back in Tamaha and she is concerned that Biscuits is getting dragged into her mess. She asks Skully if he knows what Lopez is up to, but he tells Chula to ask her herself. Skully notes that she and Lopez are more alike than she thinks, asking her to forget about her pride for once before she loses her granddaughter as well.
Vickie Tyson talks with Zane, who warns him that his intel would be worthless if Lopez slips away again. Vickie assures him that Lopez is in town, and Zane orders him to make sure she is where he wants her to by the time of his arrival. While Lopez takes a walk around the lake, she encounters the illusion of Chafa and her other ancestors, who try to warn her, but it is too late. Lopez gets drugged by Grace Tyson and Brigitte and brought to Black Crow's SkateLife, where she is suspended above the floor. Lopez frees herself by dislodging her prosthetic leg, but Vickie and others take a hold of her and tie her up in the storage room, while Henry Lopez is also kept tied.
Bonnie comes to the skating rink, so Vickie releases Henry and forces him to act normally, so she would not suspect anything. Bonnie says that she wants to ask some questions, but Henry says it is not a good time, while telling her in ASL that she should leave immediately. Bonnie takes the hint and leaves, trying to call for help at her truck, but gets captured before she could do that. Vickie and Brigitte lock her in the same room as Lopez, where the two meet after years of being separated. Lopez manages to free both of them and tries to look for a way out, but Bonnie insists on having a talk that she is clearly trying to avoid. Lopez says that people happen to drift apart, but Bonnie reminds her that she tried to contact her multiple times and Lopez just ignored all of it.
Henry tries to negotiate with Vickie, promising to smooth things out with Lopez, so there would be nothing to worry about for him. Vickie replies that Lopez should be the one to worry by bringing it all to herself, but Henry tells him that whoever he called is not going to just pay him and let him go, but Vickie does not listen. Vickie and others come to check out on their hostages, but Lopez puts up a fight, so they have to retreat while holding onto Bonnie. While Lopez uses the items in the storage room to free herself, Zane and the Black Knife Cartel come to the skating rink, making it clear that he is not going to pay Vickie from the get-go.
Grace then finds out that Lopez got out and goes to check on her, and when Zane finds out, he orders to take Vickie out. Zane then orders to let Bonnie go and talks to Henry, demanding to tell him where Lopez is. At that moment, Lopez turns off the lights and blares loud music to lure the Cartel into her trap. Lopez manages to kill numerous Cartel members, however, she has to yield as Zane has Bonnie as his captive. With both Lopez and her uncle are on their knees, Zane prepares to execute them, however, he receives a call from someone, after which he and the Cartel abruptly leave. Lopez warns Bonnie that she must leave, promising that they will talk soon after Lopez is done with her business.
Lopez then stays to talk with Henry, and he tells her that Wilson Fisk is the only person who could have call off Zane and his men, which Lopez cannot believe. Henry then tells her that now that their past caught up to both of them, he agrees to help her in her war. Next morning, she gets visited by Skully who brings her a new prosthetic leg, although Lopez is not sure about the Choctaw deisgn he came up with. Skully tells her about Chula and how both of them should talk things out, but Lopez says that Chula chose to end things between them and refused to reach out herself. Lopez then drives out to meet with Bonnie but bails out at the last moment and drives back to her old house, where she is confronted by Fisk.
