"Welcome back to Trip's Tournament of Titans, which is to backyard wrestling what my parents' estate is to backyards!"
―Trip[src]

Trip is a wealthy student at Rockford T. Bales High School who ran a regular cage match in his parents' backyard.

Biography[]

Trip's Tournament of Titans[]

Meeting Spider-Man[]

"The Spider-Man convinced me he was something special. And if he's not... well, we're all gonna see something really, really gross as this spider gets squashed right before our eyes."
―Trip[src]

Trip lived with his parents in Westchester, New York, where he regularly held large cage matches. One day, an individual who referred to himself as Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man signed up for the cage match. Trip was skeptical, but Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man convinced Trip that he was special. and was put up against Crusher Hogan. Trip announced the first match between the two alongside Brent, announcing the new competitor as simply "Spider-Man." Brent expressed concern that Spider-Man was not a match for Hogan, but Trip assured Brent that he was something special. Trip and Brent announced the match as Parker and Hogan fought each other.

Hogan began carrying Spider-Man to the top of the cage, leading Trip to say it was a good idea to have the competitors sign waivers. It became unclear whether Hogan was going to throw Parker back into the ring or out of it, leading Trip to run away from the table. However, Spider-Man threw Hogan far into the air and rushed to catch him, doing so with impressive speed. Trip got excited and asked Brent to check their waivers and see if Spider-Man was his intellectual property. Brent said that it was not in the waiver, so Trip rushed toward Spider-Man with new documents, promising to make him a fortune. Spider-Man simply said he had to leave and told Trip to deposit the prize money using the account information he had given Trip. He corrected Trip for forgetting to use the word "friendly" and left Trip's Estate.[1]

Bullying Peter Parker[]

Fight with Brent[]

"Word to the wise, new kid. Nobody's happy you're here. I'll give you a pass this time, seeing as you didn't, y'know, do anything. Stay out of the way of people who matter and you might just make it through the semester."
―Trip to Peter Parker[src]

Trip drove his Ferrari to Rockford T. Bales High School and discovered a Maserati parked in the spot where he usually parked. He had to park his own car under a tree and became worried about bird feces landing on it. He walked to the school and saw Peter Parker and Nico Minoru standing in front of the Maserati. Trip demanded to know if the car belonged to Parker, getting in his face and shouting his concern about bird feces. Parker said that it was not his car, and Brent recognized him and Minoru as students who had transferred from Midtown High School. Trip commented on Parker's poverty.

Trip said that he would let Parker off the hook since he did not do anything, but noted that nobody in the school was happy about the transfers' presence and told them to stay out of the way of people he deemed more important. Minoru got in between Trip and Parker and realized that she recognized Trip from his cage matches. Trip demanded that she repeat herself, but Minoru said to consider her words to be an intervention and that he did not have friends, rather just people interested in his money. Brent denied Minoru's claim, but Minoru pulled up an interview with Brent in which he said that he did not like Trip but regularly stole from him, believing him to be too lazy to ever notice. Brent added that he had a relationship with Trip's sister in the interview, pushing Trip's anger over the edge. Trip pushed Brent and threatened to kill him, and the two fought as Parker and Minoru walked away.[1]

Personality[]

"You're that nepo baby who's so obnoxious, you have to pay old dudes in tights to hang out with you."
Nico Minoru to Trip[src]

Trip was an entitled child who often treated people, even his friends, like servants. Brent became frustrated with this, and admitted that he only spent time with Trip for his money. This led to him not having any true friends. He felt he was able to do whatever he wanted, even setting up a regular cage match in his backyard and demanding that nobody park at a spot in front of his school so that his own car could be kept clean. He often took the easy route to solutions, such as buying a replacement for anything he couldn't find.

Trip also has a very elitist view of the world, believing his own expensive possessions to be more important. He regularly brags about his wealth, using the size of his parents' backyard as part of an analogy to make things seem bigger. This view of the world extended toward people, with him claiming that poor people were not even allowed to breathe near cars they could not afford. He declared that nobody wanted transfers from Midtown High School at their school. He was also very protective of his older sister, willing to fight his friend upon learning he had a relationship with her.
