Topaz is a habitant of Sakaar and ally of Grandmaster. When Iron Man arrived on Sakaar, Topaz and Grandmaster forced him to stay for the Sakaar Grand Prix, which resulted in Stark and Gamora being imprisoned. However, Stark escaped with the help of Korg and made a deal with Grandmaster and Topaz in which they would hold a second Grand Prix; the winner would take the planet. Despite Topaz advising Grandmaster not to accept, Grandmaster agreed to Stark's terms. During the race, Topaz crashed in her attempt to take Stark out, and the race ended with Stark winning and Grandmaster being accidentally melted by Topaz's own Melt Stick.
Topaz was present in Grandmaster's throne room when Iron Man crashed through the roof. Stark stood up when part of his armor caught on fire, so Grandmaster told Topaz to use the foam. Topaz ordered the foam to be released, and pink foam was sprayed on Stark, putting the fire out. When Stark freed himself from the foam and attempted to leave to find a spaceship, Topaz used her Melt Stick to melt a statue, intimidating Stark and causing him to reconsider.[1]
Topaz attended the race that Grandmaster organized for his 21st birthday, with Tony Stark attending as well. When Valkyrie crashed her car, Topaz ordered the spectators to throw small animals at her. She then tossed Grandmaster a chinchilla, Nikos. When Stark expressed disapproval of their methods, Grandmaster said they used to throw rotten food.
Grandmaster tried to explain that recent famines had made people peckish, but Topaz interrupted him and bluntly stated they were starving. Grandmaster said that if Stark liked the chinchillas, he would love his champion, leading Topaz to command that the champion be released. She then watched as Snuffy was freed from a cage and began terrorizing the racers. Topaz watched Korg be flipped onto his back by Snuffy.
Seeing Korg in danger, Stark called his armor to him and flew into the arena to save him. However, Topaz witnessed his armor fail, and he was almost killed by Snuffy himself until the animal seemingly exploded. Gamora emerged as the person who had killed Snuffy and attempted to kill Stark, but Topaz threw Obedience Disks onto her and Stark, electrocuting them. Topaz was ordered to fix the mess.[1]
Topaz took Tony Stark and Gamora from the arena and threw them into a romantic cell that was already occupied by Korg. Both Stark and Gamora were disgusted by the room, with Stark complaining that he had requested a room for one. Gamora attempted to escape upon seeing the cell, but Topaz quickly shut the door and mockingly informed her that Grandmaster had sensed a connection between her and Stark.
Topaz left the prisoners in their cell, but returned when Grandmaster put out an alert and informed the Sakaarans that Stark and Korg had escaped. Topaz found that Gamora had also escaped, discovering her watching a ship exit the building through a hole in the wall, so she electrocuted Gamora through her Obedience Disk. Topaz locked Gamora in a new cell with a laser door; when she went to feed her, she instructed her not to attempt to escape, but Gamora lunged at her.
Gamora kicked the Obedience Disk controller out of Topaz's hand and grabbed her Melt Stick, using it to melt the five other guards with Topaz. Gamora then pointed the Melt Stick at Topaz and complained that the melting guards smelled like burning Yaro Root. Gamora forced Topaz to take her to Grandmaster, who apologized for not recognizing her as Thanos' daughter while Topaz commended her for her skills.[1]
Gamora demanded that she wanted Tony Stark; Grandmaster claimed that he did not know where he went when he flew off, but Stark then appeared in the sky using the planet's broadcast system. Topaz watched as Stark challenged Grandmaster to a race in which the winner would take Sakaar. Topaz stated that they already had the planet, and Gamora pointed out that it was a trap. Grandmaster said he was not sold, so Stark offered to let him pick the chariots.
Topaz tried to get her superior to refuse the deal, explaining that there was no reason to accept it, but Grandmaster ignored her and told Stark that he was in under the condition that he got Stark's new suit if he won. Stark agreed to his terms and disappeared. Topaz then watched as Grandmaster explained to Gamora that she now knew exactly where Stark would be before electrocuting her and telling her she would be racing as well.[1]
Topaz equipped a vehicle with Melt Sticks and brought it out before Iron Man in the Grand Arena, telling him he was dead. While watching the holographic Grandmaster stall before the start of the race, Topaz saw Stark and the real Grandmaster begin, so she raced to catch up with them along with the other drivers.
Topaz drove her car through a tunnel that had opened in the arena, and when she exited, she found herself on an extremely steep downward track. While the other racers screamed in fear, Topaz amusedly expressed glee. Once the track became level, she drove towards Iron Man's vehicle to melt his car. However, when Topaz's Melt Stick touched it, Iron Man flipped into the air and converted his armor into a new vehicle.
Topaz fails to get her wrecked car to start
Topaz annoyedly called Iron Man's trick lame before her enemy slammed into her car, causing her to spin out and crash into the side of the track. Topaz desperately tried to get her vehicle to start, even speaking to it, to no avail. Eventually, Topaz was able to get the car to start again, and she reached the end of the race, where Iron Man had won. Grandmaster, however, had declared the race a tie, much to Iron Man's frustration.
When Iron Man asserted that he had won fair and square, Grandmaster called on Topaz, so she drove at Iron Man in a second attempt to melt him. However, Valkyrie drove her vehicle into Topaz's, detaching the Melt Stick from the front. Topaz then watched as the Melt Stick landed near Grandmaster and touched his foot. Grandmaster melted but survived due to his origin. Topaz approached Grandmaster, who asked that she put him in a bucket.[1]
Topaz is loyal to Grandmaster and does everything she is told. Because of this, she makes sure to look after him, as when Iron Man challenged Grandmaster to a bet that the latter would get nothing from, Topaz attempted to step in and inform Grandmaster there was no reason to accept. Topaz is also logical, and Grandmaster even acknowledged this, calling her a "Logic-Linda". However, Topaz also has a wild and menacing side. She aggressively and threateningly told Gamora to not attempt escape from imprisonment and was eager to use her Melt Stick on Iron Man during the second Sakaar Grand Prix.
Topaz used a Melt Stick to incapacitate people. She used it on a statue to intimidate Tony Stark and later carried it when approaching Gamora's cell to defend herself. However, Gamora took the Melt Stick from her and used it to force Topaz to take Gamora to Grandmaster. Topaz later equipped the front of her vehicle for the second Sakaar Grand Prix with a Melt Stick. She repeatedly attempted to use it on Stark but failed every time, and a collision with Valkyrie resulted in the Melt Stick detaching and melting Grandmaster.
Facilities[]
Grandmaster Palace: Topaz served Grandmaster in his palace. She was in the palace when Iron Man crashed into it. Topaz later imprisoned Stark, Korg, and Gamora in a cell within the palace, and she also recaptured Gamora when she escaped. She also witnessed Iron Man's holographic broadcast during which he challenged Grandmaster to a race.
Topaz attended the Sakaar Grand Prix which was held in the Grand Arena, commanding the spectators to throw small animals at Valkyrie when she crashed her car. Topaz also participated in a second prix in the arena that Iron Man challenged Grandmaster to. At the end of the race, when Topaz attempted to melt Iron Man, Valkyrie drove her vehicle into Topaz's, causing the Melt Stick to detach and hit Grandmaster.
