Anthony Edward "Tony" Stark is a genius yet unrecognized scientist and inventor during the paradox period where the 17th and 21st Centuries were merged. To help the outlawed Captain Carter both locate the Forerunner who inadvertently caused reality to start collapsing and undo the crisis, Stark invented a device to do so. He joined the Avengers in stealing the Scepter's Time Stone as the device's power source, soon resulting in the universe being reverted to normal.

Stark is informed about the Forerunner
Tony Stark encountered and befriended Captain Carter, a hero from another universe who was summoned to stop the rifts that were causing reality to collapse in on itself. Carter woke Stark up and showed him Yorick, which was covered in green particles. Stark studied the particles, and Carter concluded that the Forerunner she would also give off the same energy.

Stark successfully obtains the Time Stone
In order to identify the Forerunner, Stark told Carter to retrieve the Scepter with the help of a group of thieves. When Carter returned with Bruce Banner, Stark unveiled his invention which would reveal the Forerunner and send them back to their time. Working alongside the Avengers, they disrupted a court session, successfully stole the Sceptre, which Stark used to insert the Time Stone into his machine, which revealed that Rogers Hood was the Forerunner, so he was sent back to his time.[2]
