Tom Benson was a recreation of the real Tom Benson by the energy from the Creation Di'Alla, manifested by Izel when she wanted Marcus Benson to reveal the coordinates of the Temple of the Forgotten.

When Izel tried to get Marcus Benson to give her the location of the Temple of the Forgotten where she could unleash the power of the Di'Allas, she used the Gravity Containment Device to create a copy of Tom Benson. Tom had the same memories as the real version, and he remembered what happened after the car crash. Since seeing Tom die is Marcus' greatest fear, Izel killed the manifested Tom and threatened to do it again if he would not give her the coordinates.[1]
