Thomas "Tom" Benson was the husband of Marcus Benson, who was killed in a car crash.

Tom Benson got in a car crash which left him brain-dead, requiring machines to breathe. His husband, Marcus, knew that Tom wouldn't want to be kept alive by machines. Tom's family, however, fought Marcus on this, but after a few days, the ventilators were turned off at Marcus' request.[2]
