Thor: The Dark World is a junior novelization of the film of the same name.
Synopsis[]
The Asgardian warrior continues his big-screen adventures in Thor: The Dark World as he battles to save Earth and all Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's Thor and Marvel's The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, the God of Thunder must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.[1]

Behind the Scenes[]
This section requires expansion |
Continuity[]
The junior novelization poses certain differences with the film. For instance, it does not deal with Frigga's death during the Sacking of Asgard as Thor manages to save her from Kurse and Malekith. Sif's Sword is also depicted as a spear capable of splitting into two blades. It ends with the funeral of Asgardians who died during the Dark Elves' attack. Since the novel does not follow the established continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is considered to be non-canon material.
