Multiverse Discovered
"He discovered that there were universes stacked on top of his own..."
The subject of this article comes from an alternate universe connecting to the main timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This universe is designated as the "Celestial Invader Ego Universe".

"Wow. Is it really you?"
"If you're referring to your doom, then yes."
"Bummer. I thought you were the dude from Van Halen."
Peter Quill and Thor[src]

Thor Odinson is an Asgardian who fought in Ego's Expansion. After witnessing the destruction of Jotunheim at the hands of Peter Quill, he ventured out and arrived on Earth to track down Quill and stop the Expansion.

Biography[]

Ego's Expansion[]

Fall of the Nine Realms[]

"Jotunheim was the first to fall. Asgard soon thereafter. One by one, the armies of the Nine Realms perished at that boy's hands."
―Thor[src]

In the wake of the Expansion, Thor witnessed the destruction and fall of Jotunheim caused by Ego and his progeny Peter Quill. Soon, Quill arrived on Asgard and successfully executed the Expansion there, leaving Thor the sole survivor. Afterwards, the other seven realms were targeted and fell at Quill and Ego's hands. Believing Quill as a threat to the universe, Thor ventured out and tracked him down to Earth.[1]

"This is taking too long. I will find the boy and destroy him and the seedling myself."
"Hey, Lightning Boy, we kind of have a team thing going on here."
"And I have a duty thing going on here, Mustache Man. To see to it that the boy submits to Asgardian justice."
―Thor and Howard Stark[src]

Thor arrived in Missouri, where he found and contained the celestial seedling that had been planted by Ego. Thor then traveled to Coney Island, where he confronted and defeated Peter Quill, who thought he was the from Van Halen.

Thor discusses killing Peter Quill

Quill was taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D., so Thor went with them to explain the Expansion to them, revealing the seedling, which he informed them could only be destroyed by a being of celestial origin. When Quill escaped his captivity, Thor was determined to put a stop to him before he could bring about Earth's destruction. Thor agreed with Winter Soldier about killing Quill, but the others wanted to help the boy.[1]

"You've taken something from me. I'd like it back."
"Not so long as there is breath in my body. For Asgard!"
Ego and Thor[src]

The seedling began to pulsate, which Thor explained was because Ego had arrived on Earth. Thor joined Black Panther, Goliath, and Peggy Carter in facing off against Ego in the Mojave Desert, while the rest of the team searched for Peter Quill.

Ego demanded they return the seedling to him, but Thor refused and attacked Ego, who manipulated the ground to shoot out and hit Thor backwards. Ego then created an army of clones from the ground that charged at the team. They managed to hold their own against Ego's army, but he was able to create more with ease. Eventually, Thor, Black Panther, and Goliath were overwhelmed and swarmed by the clones, but they were saved when Quill arrived with Ant-Man and defeated Ego.[1]

"Then I suggest you suit up, team."
Ant-Man and Thor[src]

After their victory, the team celebrated at Ant-Man's house, where Thor shared a drink with Goliath, Black Panther, and Howard Stark. After dinner, Thor revealed that Ego was still alive and that he would leave to destroy him. The team decided to accompany Thor, so they headed off together to defeat the celestial.[1]
