Thor Odinson is a prince of Asgard and son of Odin entrusted with the enchanted weapon Mjølnir. Joined by his friends Sif and the Warriors Three alongside his brother, Loki, Thor led an Attack on Jotunheim which was stopped by Odin, who deemed Thor unworthy of Mjølnir's power and banished him to Midgard, where he met and developed feelings for Jane Foster. Through getting to know Foster and several other humans, Thor regained his worthiness and reclaimed his weapon, using it to foil Loki's plan to destroy Jotunheim.
Loki survived his and Thor's fight and aligned himself with the Chitauri to lead an invasion of Earth, so Thor was sent to Asgard to retrieve Loki and bring him back to Asgard. There, he was met by the Avengers, who he allowed to hold Loki temporarily in their custody. However, Loki manipulated the Avengers and freed himself, leading Thor to join forces with the Avengers in a large-scale battle against Loki and the Chitauri, which the Avengers won. Thor then returned with Loki to Asgard to face justice for his actions.
