The Punisher is an upcoming American web television special, based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name. It is a sequel to The Punisher and the first season of Daredevil: Born Again. It is the third television special in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is produced by Marvel Studios and will be released on Disney+ in 2026.[3]

On February 24, 2025, in an interview with Comicbook.com, Brad Winderbaum revealed that a Special Presentation for Punisher was in development, starring Jon Bernthal, and that Bernthal was actively involved in its development.[10][2] The next day, Entertainment Weekly reported that Reinaldo Marcus Green would be directing the special and co-writing the special's script with Jon Bernthal.[1] That same day, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the special would be released in 2026.[3]

On July 14, 2025, it was reported that the special would begin production on July 17 in New York City, under the working title "Jolly Roger"[11] with Roe Rancell joining the cast of the special and that he would portray a character named Dennis.[5][6]

On July 24, 2025, set videos revealed that Jason R. Moore was reprising his role as Curtis Hoyle in the special.[4]

On August 7, 2025, it was revealed that the special had wrapped production on August 4.[12]
