  • On September 11, 2020, Sebastian Stan in regards to what it felt like shooting the Disney+ series went onto say how, "It felt like both. In a lot of ways, it felt like a movie. What I loved about it was that, tonally, it was very much in the same world that Captain America: The Winter Soldier was, which was one of my favorite experiences that I’ve ever had, period,” Stan explained.[1]
    • “So, in a sense, it was grounded and very much in the world as we know it. But, it’s also really jam-packed with a lot of massive, massive action scenes mixed with deep focus on character. These characters are getting so much more mileage for all of us to explore them. We can put them in situations that we’ve never been able to put them in before because you now have six hours as opposed to two.”[1]
  • On December 12, 2020, at the Investor's Day event a trailer that is just under two minutes of footage was released,where viewiers have learned a couple tonal themes of the series, particularly revolving around Anthony Mackie's growth from supporting character to lead hero.[2]
    • The opening shots of the trailer reveal a Captain America Museum of sorts, with numerous 1940s newspaper headlines commanding screens. Some of those headlines directly reference events from Captain America: The First Avenger.[2]
    • '400 PRISONERS LIBERATED' calls back to Steve Rogers's first Captain America mission, when he goes against his general's orders and saves Bucky, the Howling Commandos, and hundreds more from a HYDRAfacility.[2]
    • Below that particular headline is a poster that reads 'TOUR CANCELED,' which is referencing the end of Cap's song-and-dance routine after he becomes a full-fledged member of the United States Army.[2]
    • 'NAZIS IN NEW YORK: MYSTERY MAN SAVES CHILD' is from when Cap chases down the Hydra agent that blew up the Super Soldier lab in his first experience in his new bulky body.[2]
    • In the next shots of the trailer, numerous black and white images of Steve Rogers are shown. From left to right, a pre-Super Soldier serum Steve from when he was training at Camp Lehigh and Captain America using a car door as a shield during that initial Nazi chase.[2]

  • On January 01, 2021, Georges St-Pierre expressed his excitement to be back in the MCU while talking to Inspired Traveler. As it has already been revealed, he is set to return as Georges Batroc, who hasn't been seen since his debut in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, he acknowledged the "huge budget" that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was granted and admitted the show is "the biggest thing" he's ever done.[3]
    • He went onto further state that, “It’s a huge budget. It’s the biggest thing I’ve done in my life. It’s really big. I’ve been taking classes to become an actor for a while now. I am working very hard on this. I am very proud of the job I have done on the show. I can’t wait for people to see the result of my work."
    • St-Pierre explained that he's "a bit of a nerd" for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even saying that his passion for mixed martial arts can be credited in part to "this passion" that he now gets to explore further in the MCU.[3]
    • He finished his interview by saying that, "I’m a bit of a nerd in this universe. I think this passion influenced me in my adventure with mixed martial arts. When I was in the cage I was like a superhero and as soon as I stepped out of the arena I was back to being a normal human being."[3]
  • While on The Jess Cagle Show, Mackie when asked if Falcon would become Captain America, Mackie shared that, "we don't know that yet. The show, the idea of the show is basically, you know, and at the end of Avengers: Endgame, Cap decided he was going into retirement and he asked me if I would take up the shield, but at no point in time did I agree to or say that I would be Captain America," and went on to enigmatically remark, "So, the show walks the line of who is going to take up the shield and who's going to be Captain America if Steve isn't coming back".[4]
  • On January 15, 2021, a Hasbro action figure of Sam Wilson dressed in a Captain America costume was leaked. The name badge on the toy’s packaging reads Captain America rather than Wilson’s more familiar superhero title, The Falcon. In addition, the packaging features an image of actor Anthony Mackie as Wilson dressed in the Captain America costume.[5]
  • On March 15, 2021, Mackie revealed in a recent interview with The Toronto Sun that he “requested” a love story with Black Widow.[6]
    • Also on this day, the release of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier with only a few short days away, a major part of its marketing campaign included a series of promos released in partnership with Xbox that show Anthony Mackie's Falcon playing various games on the Xbox Series X console. These promos have included several Easter eggs to the MCU already and offered fans the best look yet at Sam Wilson's new wings. In one of the comercials, the identy of NoobMaster69 was revealed. [7]
  • On March 18, 2021, as part of the virtual launch event for Marvel's The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany were on hand to congratulate the cast of the show and voice their excitement for seeing Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes lead their own show.[8]
  • On March 19, 2021, a scene in the first episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the audience was treated to a scene where Don Cheadle's War Machine and Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson walk through a Captain America memorial exhibit as they discuss the mantle that Steve left behind. On one part of the exhibit, there is a quote explaining what exactly happened to Chris Evans' Steve Rogers following the events of Avengers: Endgame that says:With the death of Iron Man, Steve Rogers honored his friend by finally retiring and laying down his shield, enjoying the world he had fought so hard to protect. With this exhibit we honor the life and legacy of Steve Rogers, Captain America: patriot, soldier, hero.[9]
  • On March 30th, 2021, Wyatt Russell revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that for his role on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, he asked for one of the original Cap costumes. But instead they gave him a new suit instead.[10]
  • On April 4, 2021, Wyatt Russell revealed in an interview that he doesn't know if his character has a future in the MCU beyond his appearances throughout The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.[11]
  • In a pivotal moment between Ayo and Bucky in Episode 4: The Whole World Is Watching, the Dora Milaje arrive in Latvia after learning that Baron Zemo, who murdered Wakanda's King T'Chaka in Captain America: Civil War, has been freed from prison.The Dora Milaje's demand that Zemo be handed over leads to a skirmish, during which Ayo quickly ends her fight with Bucky by using a failsafe to deactivate and detach his metal arm.[12]
  • On April 16, 2021, Julia Louis-Dreyfus made her surprise MCU debut as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in Truth, the penultimate episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but according to sources close to the production, Louis-Dreyfus was slated to first appear in the Black Widow film which, in a pre-COVID world, was scheduled to debut in theaters May 1, 2020. But Marvel, reportedly, now has even bigger ambitions for Louis-Dreyfus’s villainous figure.[13]
  • In Truth, the fifth episode of The Falcon and the Winter SoldierBucky Barnes handed Baron Helmut Zemo over to the Dora Milaje of Wakanda. As he's being taken away, Ayo explicitly states that Zemo will be put in the Raft, which was seen in Captain America: Civil War, where Avengers that supported Captain America were imprisoned alongside dangerous criminals.[14]
  • On April 16, 2021, in Truth, the fifth episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sharon Carter is seen on a phone call in Madripoor with an unknown personality. When turning on the subtitles during this scene, it's revealed that Sharon is speaking to Georges St-Pierre's Georges Batroc as she lets him know about the undisclosed job. While his actual dialogue isn't revealed, the subtitles for his end of the call say "Batroc speaking French."[15]
  • On April 19, 2021, it was revealed that The Falcon and the Winter Solider will be submitted as a Drama Series at this year’s Emmy Awards, marking a shift from its expected placement in the Limited Series categories. This way, it avoids direct competition with WandaVision, which has been submitted for the Limited Series category instead.[16]
  • On April 20, 2021, it was once again reported that it's looking more and more possible that Marvel's The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, as well as the upcoming Loki series, could see multiple seasons, but WandaVision instead looks more likely than ever to be a one-and-done show.[17]
  • On April 22, 2021, Marvel Studios posted a binge guide leading up to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier finale on Friday April 23, 2021, and they additionally promised 'surprises throughout the day'.[18]
  • On April 23,2021, shortly after The Falcon and The Winter Soldier aired its 6th episode, it was announced that Captain America 4 was greenlit with head writer Malcolm Spellman returning and co-writing the script with FAWS scribe Dalan Musson. No further details, including who exactly will wield the star-spangled shield, however no additional details were made available.[19]

  • On October 25, 2020, it was mentioned that in the series Helmut Zemo will also be getting his comic book accurate title of Baron Zemo.[21]
    • This was revealed via a Funko Pop of the character recently released as promotion for the series, and is now sporting the aforementioned title.[21]
  • On February 11, 2021, the latest trailer that debuted during Super Bowl LV has revealed a first look at the Principality of Madripoor, which in Marvel Comics canon is located somewhere in Southeast Asia between Singapore and Sumatra, and over the years has played a major part in countless stories revolving around the X-Men.[22]
    • Traditionally, it is split into the affluent Hightown and the working class Lowtown, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier footage shows both sides of the island, from the sprawling cityscape where skyscrapers dominate the skyline to the dense urban areas.[22]
  • On March 19,2021, in one of his newsletters, former Captain America writer and Winter Soldier co-creator Ed Brubaker expressed his "mixed" feelings about the brand new Disney+ show The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. He expressed how he is really happy for Sebastian Stan, who he thinks is both a great guy, and the perfect Bucky/Winter Soldier. Along with being glad to see him get more screen time than in the past. He even admitted that while everyone at Marvel Studios that he has ever met (all the way up to Kevin Feige) have been nothing but kind to home. At the same time, for the most part all Steve Epting and him have gotten for creating the Winter Soldier and his storyline is a “thanks” here or there, and over the years that’s become harder and harder to live with.   • On April 11, 2021, Emily VanCamp revealed that she is very interested in wearing Sharon Carter's iconic white suit from the comics.[24]
  • On April 19, 2021 it was revealed that since Friday April 16, 2021, when Julia Louis-Dreyfus' character of Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine appeared in Truth, the series 5th episode, ebay sales of the character's first appearance in the comics have surged. It was further reported that at least 10 copies of Strange Tales #159, written by Jim Steranko and Roy Thomas and drawn by Marie Severin and Steranko, were sold by various vendors on Friday alone with elevated price points ranging from $1,000 - $4,000. This is compared to a copy with a 9.0 CGC sold days earlier on April 12 for $259.99, and one sold on April 7 with a 9.6 CGC for $565.[25]
  • On April 26, 2021, Marvel Studios officially released a new poster for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, showcasing Sam Wilson as the MCU's new Captain America. Alongside the release, a new Twitter Emoji showing Sam Wilson's Star-Spangled hero was also unveiled. His suit pays homage to the one Sam wore in the comics during his tenure as Captain America.[26]

  • On October 7, 2020 it was revealed that Disney and McDonald’s have teamed up to offer a new collection of Marvel Studio toys as part of the McDonald Happy Meals.The line up will feature the likes of Falcon, Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Groot, Hulkbuster, Wasp, Hulk and the Black Widow herself.[27]
  • The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was shooting in Prague, which is where the show was in production when things were shut down early in 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.[28]
  • On October 18, 2020, it was also revealed that in addition to Danny Ramirez being confirmed as part of the cast in a pivotal role, the series is also in the process of finishing the last bit of production that was halted earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.[29]

  • On November 4,2020, a newly revealed toy prototype provided the first glimpse of the design for Sam Wilson's Captain America costume in the series.[32]
  • On November 8, 2020, Disney began to promote their Disney+ Marvel Cinematic Universe series in Latin America for its upcoming launch in the aforementioned region, releasing a video teasing several shows like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and WandaVision.[33]

  • On January 11, 2021, Kevin Feige was asked what the audience can expect regarding the runtime of their MCU series, with Feige responding that “Well, we're looking a little differently. We're looking at it as developing them as either six hour-episodes, or nine or 10 half-hour episodes.” He gave examples, such as WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier having their runtimes “blurred” due to the nature of streaming. Feige then went onto say how, “for instance, WandaVision started that way and Falcon and the Winter Soldier as 30 minutes, but because it's streaming, it's Disney+, and the rules have blurred over the years, yes. Some can be 23 minutes. Some can be much longer than that”. [37]
    • As a result it was officially confirmed that in the case of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it was being developed as six 40-50-minute episodes.[38]
  • On January 18, 2021, Kevin Feige would go on to acknowledge the unexpected similarities between The Blip and the COVID-19 pandemic, before reiterating that he wants any future references to Thanos' attack to "have more meaning behind it". As a result, Phase Four, will instead be focused on setting up new stories rather than looking back to past events.[39]
  • On January 28, 2021 the series composer HenryJackman hinted at the "less comfortable things" that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will address by stating how with “having six hourly episodes, that’s more real estate than one of [the films],” said Jackman. “There’s a bit more opportunity to go into psychological drama and explore backstories.   • On this same day Mackie admitted that he had his reservations about taking part in this Disney+ series, stating how “at the end of Avengers: Endgame, Sam didn’t accept the shield,” Anthony Mackie said on The Rich Eisen Show. “If you remember, he told Steve, ‘It doesn’t feel right because this shield is yours.’ So, you know, the show is a long way of figuring around who’s gonna be Captain America. Where the shield’s gonna end up and if Captain America, if that moniker is gonna come back and somebody’s gonna hold that moniker again.”[41]

  • On February 13, 2021, it was revealed that in the United States, the show will receive a PG-13 rating. However, overseas (particularly in the Netherlands), it has been given a 16+, which is roughly the equivalent to a TV-MA or R-rating in the United States. Which in turns likely means it could also be given a 15 rating in the United Kingdom. All likely coming off the presumed levels of violence to be shown in the series.[46]

  • On February 16, 2021, it was announced that Legends will release new installments that will center around Anthony Mackie's Falcon, Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier, Daniel Brühl's Helmut Zemo, and Emily VanCamp's Sharon Carter and will be coming in March 2021 to Disney+. Presumably a week before the premiere of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.[49]
    • Also on this day, through an Instagram story on his Instagram account, Sebastian Stan agreed that Falcon, Scarlet Witch and his character of the Winter Soldier definately need some therapy due to all the trauma they have gone through in their appearances across several MCU films. Which further solidifies how mental Health is a central theme that is part of the two shows' DNA.[50]
  • Emily VanCamp also recently told E! Online that the show will be a little more action-heavy and less weird than WandaVision. She did teased that there will be some elements of mystery, along with some good old-fashioned action that she promises people will love from those movies.[51]
  • On February 17, 2021, Malcolm Spellman, the series showrunner admitted that he believes that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is a nice progression with the mantle that the Black Panther film directed by Ryan Coogler and the legacy left behind by Chadwick Boseman. He went onto further say that is important to have these giant Black icons, which are not only necessary for Black kids, but also for white kids to start to absorb how black people can be big and heroic.[52]
  • On February 20, 2021 Mackie went onto say that when they were shooting The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in Prague, that it was as big of a production a Marvel Disney+ can ultimately get, with the production value being estimated at costing hundreds of millions of dollars. However, he admitted that at the same time, there’s a certain disconnect because there’s so many people there. Typically, there's at least 250 people a day on-set that according Mackie you form these little pods, these little communities... Thus working for Marvel it’s tight-knit.[53]
  • On February 24, 2021, at Kevin Feige at his first TCA said that the reason for settling on only six episodes is because of budget. Feige went onto further state after a lot of discussion, telling the story of Sam and Bucky in six hours was what he and the other people at Marvel Studios ultimately landed on as the best way to tell our story. he added. As a result, billboards for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier have begun appearing in Los Angles in recent days; with one of the posters spotted on an LA billboard revealing new art from the upcoming series. This being Sam seen with his iconic Falcon wings spread beside Bucky in front of a city with helicopters in its skyline.[61]
  • On March 3, 2021, Mackie gave an interview in which he got candid about feeling the pressure to make sure that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is not Marvel's first fail.[62]

    • Also on this day, Kevin Feige in an interview went on to shower Anthonie Mackie with praise over what he has managed to with the character of Sam.     • On this same day, although they cited no concrete numbers, Disney Plus announced on Monday that “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” was the streaming service’s most-watched series premiere ever during its opening weekend, exceeding the series premieres for “The Mandalorian” and “WandaVision.”[79]
    • Speaking to USA Today, Russell explained in his interview that the main difference between the two Captain Americas is their upbringing and life experience. So U.S. Agent will have to grapple fitting into the moralistic superhero world and the mantle left behind by Captain America.[80]
    • St-Pierre teased that viewers can expect to see more of the guy known in the comics as “Batroc as the Leaper.”[81]
  • On March 23, 2021, new action figures from Hot Toys for the show were released.[82]
    • On this same day, a new look at Wyatt Russell’s US Agent in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was released ahead of the show’s Friday premiere on Disney Plus two days later.[83]
  • On April 5, 2021, Stan revealed in a radio interview on BBC Radio 1, that fans often spout the supposed code words that make his character of Buckey Barnes, a formerly brainwashed assassin, turn into a murder machine known as The Winter Soldier.Thes words being "Longing, rusted, seventeen, daybreak, furnace, nine, benign, homecoming, one, freight car,” which were famously said by Zemo in Captain America: Civil War.[84]
    • Also on this day, new Funko Pop figures for Zemo and Sharon Carter as seen on episode 3 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier were released.[85]
  • On April 9, 2021, Toy maker Hasbro has put up for pre-order a brand new six-inch scale Marvel Legends figure from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The figure itself represents John Walker in his Captain America suit and features an interchangeable, unmasked head with the likeness of actor Wyatt Russell.[86]
    • On this same day, Daniel Bruhl revealed that he actually improvised Zemo's dance moves that became a viral sensation since the airing of episode 3, Power Broker.[87]
  • On April 12, 2021, after episode 4 The Whole World Is Watching aired, some additional merchandise for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was released on the Marvel Entertainment store.[88]
  • On April 23, 2021 Julia Louis-Dreyfus shared a 13-second video of herself as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine on the set of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. She further revealed that in order to maintain the secrecy of her cameo, she wore a long black cloak with a full hood to hide her costume before she entered her first scene. Louis-Dreyfus took this precaution in stride, even joking in her post that she's "worn it every day since."[89]
  • On April 24, 2021, during a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Wyatt Russell compared the teasing nature of the U.S. Agent reveal scene to that of a "carrot dangling in front of you. It was so much fun". Russell further admitted that he was less than excited about his new U.S. Agent suit , attributing this to the fact that both costumes were essentially the same: “When I went to see the costume, I thought there'd be a lot to deal with. It was…it's really the exact same costume but it's just black and red”. He further added that his lackluster reaction worked well with his character during the scene where John Walker tells Val (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), "It's the same, but black." In addition, he said that “it provided a fun thing for me and Julia beyond what was on the page in that scene”. Lastly, Russell also hinted at the future of the U.S. Agent in the MCU when he said that “at the end of the series, he's grown into himself in a very dangerous way”.[90]
  • On April 26, 2021, official promotional images have surfaced online, via Twitter user The Falcon and the Winter Soldier News and Marvel.com, of new Funko Pops for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, including two versions of Sam Wilson as the new Captain America. In addition to a new Bucky Barnes Funko Pop, fans can now own a figure of Sam as Cap in his new, Wakanda-made Captain America suit holding the shield. As well a Funko Pop for John Walker in his US Agent suit too.[91]
