Multiverse Discovered
"He discovered that there were universes stacked on top of his own..."
The subject of this article comes from an alternate universe connecting to the main timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This universe is designated as Earth-838.

"Our Strange did not die defeating Thanos. We were at war. While the rest of us banded together to try to stop Thanos, Stephen, as always, chose to go it alone."
Professor X to Doctor Strange[src]

Thanos was a genocidal warlord from Titan, whose lifelong objective was to bring stability to the universe by wiping out half of all life at every level, as he believed its massive population would inevitably use up the universe's entire supply of resources and perish.

In 2018, Thanos began personally seeking out and collecting the six Infinity Stones, which he would use to decimate the population of his universe with the Infinity Gauntlet. However, after only collecting four of the stones, Thanos was engaged by the Illuminati on Titan and killed shortly after, putting an end to his conquest.

"Stephen renounced the Darkhold. He even helped us find the Book of Vishanti. A weapon we did use to kill him, to defeat Thanos."
Professor X to Doctor Strange[src]

In 2018, Thanos set out on his ferocious crusade to collect the Infinity Stones in his Infinity Gauntlet and succeed in wiping out half of all life, thus bringing balance to a universe he saw as overpopulated, recklessly consuming its finite resources. On Titan, Thanos was confronted by the Illuminati, consisting of Doctor Strange, Professor X, Captain Marvel, Black Bolt, Mister Fantastic and Captain Carter.

Thanos already possessed four of the six Stones he needed, but the effort ended up being futile, as the Illuminati obtained the Book of Vishanti and used it to defeat Thanos. Before he could retaliate, Thanos was ultimately stabbed by his own Double-Edged Sword and left to die on Titan.[1]
