Powell stating "Me and Kel Shanahan, we were partners for eight years" is not entirely relevant to Shanahan's Snap status, as he could've survived, and when Powell came back, they were made partners again, that would still mean they were partners for eight years. - The rest of the line, particularly about raising kids together, is what makes it confirmation. It’s pretty clear to me from that part that they spent the same eight years together. -

- The line is, "that's eight years of beers, and kids, and... just talking about how shitty the Knicks are,” that's him saying that they each spent eight years together doing those things.
