Sun-Val was a Kree pilot who helped the Starforce on their mission to Sy'gyl.
Biography[]
As a Kree pilot, Sun-Val became familiar with Xandarian territory. This familiarity led to her being asked to fly the Starforce to the planet Sy'gyl for a mission which could potentially lead to the end of the Kree war against Xandar. She was briefed on the mission, during which it was made clear that she might be required to fight alongside Starforce if they were in dire need. While on the flight there, the team was attacked, and Sun-Val was able to identify the ships as Kree fighters who had confused them for Xandarians due to their disguised ship. Yon-Rogg ordered Sun-Val to return fire, so she used the one weapon she had to fire back, leading to a fight. She piloted the vessel into Xandarian space. As they entered Sy'gyl's orbit, Sun-Val welcomed Starforce to the planet, describing several details about it.
As they entered the planet's upper atmosphere, Sun-Val commented on the quality of the camouflaged ship they were flying. She eventually entered cruising speed and joined Starforce, saying that they should experience smooth sailing the rest of the way. She greeted Vers and commented that Yon-Rogg told her how powerful Vers was. Vers said that they would find out on the mission, so Sun-Val told her not to worry about her and to focus on the job. Vers asked about Sun-Val's story, but Sun-Val simply said she was a Kree pilot who would fly without question. Yon-Rogg called Vers over, and Sun-Val watched her walk away. Sun-Val landed the ship, and Yon-Rogg told her to wait with it for the rest of the team and to leave if there was trouble. Sun-Val asked about the team, but Vers assured her they would alright.
As the rest of Starforce went out, Sun-Val examined the ship's damage, noticing that it was worse than she had at first believed. She worked on the ship as she listened to the team update each other of the comm-link. Once she finished, she heard a snap and turned toward the source. She saw fire and trees, wondering how a planet with so much fire had trees. She started to focus on the patch again, when she heard another snap. She took out her gun and walked toward it, when she got killed by a Skrull who took her shape.[1]
Personality[]
Sun-Val was an upbeat person who liked to act as a tour guide while flying military teams. She had lighthearted answers to serious questions, but was still able to take the mission seriously and encouraged others, such as Vers, to do the same. She liked to listen to communications between team members on the missions she flew, but saw it as entertainment rather than something actually occurring. Despite all this, she was dutiful and always stayed on mission without question. When she heard a noise that could potentially mean danger, she took it upon herself to investigate to keep her team safe.
Abilities[]
- Expert Pilot: Sun-Val was a skilled pilot who was trusted to fly Starforce, an elite team of warriors, through enemy territory in a disguised ship. She was familiar with the area and well-respected enough that Yon-Rogg specifically selected her for the mission. She flew the ship and survived a firefight with a Kree fighter. She successfully flew the freighter to the planet of Sy'gyl and navigated the challenges of entering a planet's atmosphere, landing the damaged freighter well.
- Expert Marksman: Sun-Val was known among the Kree as an skilled marksman, which led to Yon-Rogg choosing her for a mission with the Kree Empire's elite team of soldiers known as Starforce. Yon-Rogg trusted her to fight alongside Starforce should the need arise. She was able to fire at a Kree fighter with only one weapon convincingly enough to convince both the Kree and the Nova Corps that she was against the Kree while piloting a freighter into Xandarian territory.
- Expert Combatant: Unlike most Kree pilots, Sun-Val was an expert in rough-terrain combat. Her skill was respected and led to Yon-Rogg trusting her to fight alongside Starforce should the need arise.
