"Sufentanil. It knocks people out."
Jessica Jones[src]

Sufentanil is a synthetic analgesic drug five hundred times more potent than morphine, often used in surgical anesthesia.

History[]

Jones' Acquisition[]

Jessica Jones, looking for a way to capture Kilgrave, had tracked down Doctor David Kurata, the doctor who had performed surgery on Kilgrave the prior year. Kurata revealed that Kilgrave had requested for Sufentinal to not be used during his surgery, allowing Jones to conclude that Sufentanil was Kilgrave's weakness. Looking for Sufentanil, Jones tried asking Wendy Ross-Hogarth, but was unable to convince her to provide any. Unable to find any doctors that would prescribe the drug to her, Jones used Malcolm Ducasse as a distraction while she stole the Sufentanil.[1]

Used on Trish Walker[]

During the Attack on Trish Walker, in order to convince Will Simpson that Trish Walker was dead and stop Simpson from attacking Walker, Jessica Jones injected Walker with Sufentanil, rendering her unconscious. When Simpson saw Walker's assumed corpse, he was convinced that he had accomplished his mission and left to report back to Kilgrave.[1]

Failed Darting[]

Will Simpson shot Kilgrave using a Sufentanil-loaded dart gun during the Capture of Kilgrave, and knocked him out. Kilgrave remained unconscious due to the Sufentanil throughout the remainder of the attempted kidnapping, being dragged into and out of the van, only waking up much later to call Jones.[2] When he woke up, Kilgrave took note that he was given a painful headache from the Sufentanil.[3]

Kidnapping of Kilgrave[]

Jessica Jones, having dinner with Kilgrave and his waitstaff at the Jones Residence, assured Kilgrave that the Chinese food she brought did not have Sufentanil in it by eating a bite off his plate. When the waitstaff passed out, Kilgrave expressed confusion. Jones approached the confused Kilgrave, stuck a napkin in his mouth, and injected Sufentanil into his neck, leaving him unconscious as she carried him off.[3]
