"You know, it's kind of hard to trust someone when you don't know who that someone really is."
The subject of this article has been deemed non-canon because it contradicts the established movie continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and thus should not be taken as a part of the "real" MCU world.
"Aren't storms your thing, brother? Can't you make this any easier on yourself?"
"The storm is of unnatural origin; it dares defy me."
"Ymir is using that Spire to focus his power. But here! This passage leads to the heart of the storm."
"No Spire, no storm."
"We'll make a thinker out of you yet."
Loki and Thor[src]

The Storm Spire was used by Ymir to create storms.

Ymir used the Storm Spire to prevent Thor from entering his throne room on Niflheim. Loki showed Thor a passage that led directly to the Spire, and Thor deduced that destroying the Spire would remove the storm. Fighting his way through Frost Giants and other perils, Thor destroyed the Spire and entered Ymir's throne room.[1]
