"I can do this all day."
―Captain America[src]

Captain Steven Grant "Steve" Rogers, also known as Captain America, is the leader of the Avengers. Following the Battle of New York, he was informed that Loki had escaped with the Tesseract. While on the fourteenth floor of Stark Tower, he witnessed someone identical to him carrying the Scepter. Unaware that it was an alternate version of himself from the future, Captain America believed the impostor to be Loki and the two fought. However, he was caught off-guard when the other Captain America revealed that Bucky Barnes was still alive, which allowed his alternate self to render him unconscious with the Scepter.

Together with the Avengers, Captain America participated in the Battle of New York, fighting Chitauri who invaded New York City. As the Avengers managed to defeat Loki, Captain America left to coordinate search and rescue, while a captured Loki ridiculed him. Later, Captain America encountered his replica who got his hands on the Scepter, and assumed that it was Loki in disguise, unaware that it was actually an alternate version of himself from another timeline.

Captain America reported that he had found Loki, and the other Captain America tried to explain that he wasn't Loki. Refusing to believe what he was saying, Captain America then attacked him, and the two began to fight, soon losing both of their shields. They then fought hand to hand, until they both slipped, falling fourteen floors. As they got up, Captain America noticed his compass drop from his replica. He asked him where he got it, but did not receive an answer as the other Captain America attempted to grab the Scepter, which caused them to continue the fight.

Due to his focus being on retrieving the Scepter, Captain America was able to overpower him and get him in a headlock. However, the other Captain America told him that Bucky Barnes was alive, which distracted him, causing him to let go of his grip. The other Captain America then took this chance to grab the Scepter and used it on him, making him unconscious and wiping his memory.[2]
