"Fury, it's Cap. Come in!"
―Captain America to Nick Fury[src]

Steven Grant "Steve" Rogers is a soldier who wore a patriotic suit, making him Captain America. As a member of the Avengers, Rogers fought Loki, who used the Chitauri to invade New York City. The team eventually defeated him.

Biography[]

This is an in-depth biography of Steve Rogers/Chitauri Helicarrier Attack. For an abridged overview, see Marvel Database's article on the same character.

The Avengers[]

Defending the Helicarrier[]

"Cap, it's Tony. I may need some backup down at the UN. We've got our least favorite god controlling a small army of mercs. Things are about to get out of control."
"Banner and I need to stay on the Helicarrier, Stark. We'll send Widow and Thor to assist. Can you handle it yourself until they arrive?"
Iron Man and Captain America[src]

Steve Rogers had super strength to become Captain America. He eventually joined a superhero team known as the Avengers. As an Avenger, Rogers and his teammate, Bruce Banner seized a Tesseract Containment Device in the ocean and brought it aboard the Helicarrier. Later, the Avengers assembled just in time for Loki to send mercenaries to attack the United Nations. Iron Man, who was fighting them off, called Rogers asking for backup. Rogers surveyed the Helicarrier and decided best course of action was to send Thor and Black Widow to help Stark while he and Banner stayed on the Helicarrier.

While the two other Avengers left, Rogers asked Banner for clarification that the containment device would ensure the Tesseract did not sweep everyone into another dimension. Banner confirmed this and stated he needed a few more tests, which were interrupted when their signals started jamming from none other than Loki. Rogers sprung into action and attacked Loki's mercenaries. Continuing to fight, Rogers threw his shield at Loki, only to realize Loki was an illusion. The ever boastful Loki exclaimed that the Tesseract was his, before fading away, leaving Rogers to hack into the Hellicarrier's system to reactivate the communications. He then radioed to Thor, telling him to stop his brother.[3]

Friends Turned Enemies[]

"Loki opened some sort of portal with the Tesseract and an aggressive alien race is invading. We're trying to close it, but we can't get to it. It's surrounded by some sort of energy barrier."
―Captain America to Nick Fury[src]

Captain America and Hulk made their way to Stark Tower to defeat Loki only to find mercenaries standing in their way. Rogers commanded Hulk to go smashing as he charged towards Loki. Rogers found the trickster god just as Hulk arrived. However, Loki used his Scepter to control Hulk into attacking Rogers. Captain America was able to dodge Hulk's attacks enough to subdue him back to reality, but this gave Loki enough time to open a portal to allow the Chitauri to come to Earth. Rogers contacted Nick Fury, telling him that Loki opened a portal and they could not get to it because of an energy barrier. Fury sent in Black Widow to pick them up in a Quinjet.

Back on the Helicarrier, Fury worked on trying to stop the Tesseract but needed a Gamma Amplification Module. Rogers offered to go get it from the second bay. On the way, Rogers was attacked by Chitauri. Having disposed of some, he climbed up the wall and entered a vent where he entered the second bay. Rogers looked around and saw the module. He grabbed it and started heading back when he was met by more Chitauri. Rogers fought them off, but his work was not done as when he returned, Fury was in a daze due to Hawkeye, who was being controlled by Loki.

Rogers attempted to get Hawkeye to snap back to reality, but it was no use. Once Fury got up, he went to put a dampening device on the Tesseract to weaken Loki's hold on Hawkeye. In the meantime, Rogers was forced to fight another ally at the same time as the Chitauri once again attacked. Having defeated both parties, Fury succeeded in applying the dampener, helping Hawkeye come back to reality. Knowing Loki was outside, Rogers told Fury to guard the Tesseract as he and Hawkeye helped the rest of the Avengers finish the job. Rogers got to the last fight as Iron Man hurled Loki through the wormhole, finishing the invasion.[3]

Personality[]

Rogers was a very honest man who only wanted to do what was right. Following this philosophy he often sought out to help others such as Nick Fury when he needed the Gamma Amplification Module. He also made sure not to hurt Hulk or Hawkeye when they were brainwashed to attack Rogers.
