The mortar shells designed by Stark Industries were used by the United States Air Force in the bombings of Novi Grad during the conflict between the United States of America and Sokovia. The US military coordinated an air raid over the city, during which one of the deployed shells destroyed the Maximoff Residence, killing Olek and Iryna Maximoff. When a second shell hit the building, threatening to kill Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, Wanda unknowingly used Chaos magic to prevent the shell from detonating for two days, before they were rescued.[1]
