"Come on. I never totally fit in with the gang, anyway."
The subject of this article is part of an MCU franchise story that has been officially deemed to be non-canonical to the primary continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Its events instead occur in another reality within the Multiverse. This universe is designated by the Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki as the "A.I.M. Operative Controller Universe".

"I create technology. Weapons are a byproduct."

Stark Industries is a weapons company founded by Howard Stark.

History[]

Weapons Development[]

Howard Stark founded Stark Industries and worked with Obadiah Stane to sell weapons. Tony Stark became CEO and sold weapons to many organizations, including the Maggia. Among the company's biggest clients was the Pentagon, and A.I.M. was the biggest. The Maggia had a lucrative deal with Stark Industries and bought a significant amount of weapons from them. This included shields that had a design flaw which Stark Industries never solved that caused the shields to overload. Marc Scarlotti worked for Stark Industries, but Stark fired him.[1]

End of Weapons[]

Selling to the Ten Rings[]

"These guys have no business using my weapons."

Stark Industries weapons were sold to the Ten Rings. Tony Stark came across the weapons while breaking out of the Ten Rings Base and destroyed them, declaring that the Ten Rings should not have them. Once the rest of the weapons were destroyed, he left the base.[1]

"Tony, this company makes weapons. It's your family legacy."
"Was. Legacies change. People change. Maybe it's time for a new kind of company."

Tony Stark returned home and made the decision that Stark Industries would stop selling weapons. Obadiah Stane met with Stark and scolded him about it, but Stark remained firm in his choice. Stark then left, and Pepper Potts began canceling the company's contracts, including one with the Maggia. Meanwhile, Stark built a suit of armor and tested it at Stark Industries Headquarters. The company was then attacked by the Maggia, who were attempting to steal weapons from the company. Stark fought off the Maggia using his armor and decided to destroy their inventory of existing weapons to prevent further attacks. He then donned a new armor and used it to attack several weapons caches owned by the Maggia.

Stark became determined to destroy all Stark Industries weapons and had Potts search through the company's information to find their biggest buyer. Potts reported back that it was A.I.M. as James Rhodes asked for help dealing with a conflict involving A.I.M., so Stark agreed to help. Meanwhile, Obadiah Stane was working with A.I.M. to recreate the original suit of armor which Stark used to escape the Ten Rings. Stark fought A.I.M. and impeded their progress.[1]

"Congratulations, Tony. You've destroyed your father's company."
"Maybe so. But at least I didn't betray his legacy."
Obadiah Stane and Tony Stark[src]

Obadiah Stane orchestrated an attack on Tony Stark by A.I.M. Stane called Stark and claimed responsibility for the attack, angering Stark. Stark stopped the attack and confronted Stane, stealing his Arc Reactor. Stark took down A.I.M. and killed Stane. Stark continued to run Stark Industries as Iron Man.[1]
