Spider-Man: Brand New Day is an upcoming superhero film, based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name. The film is a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.[4] It is the thirty-eighth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and an installment of Phase Six. The film is set to be released on July 31, 2026.[3]

On June 26, 2016, Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group chairman Tom Rothman announced that Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios were committed to making more Spider-Man films after Spider-Man: Homecoming.[30]
On August 20, 2019, Deadline reported that a fourth Spider-Man film was in development alongside Spider-Man: No Way Home.[31]
On November 29, 2021, Amy Pascal confirmed that Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios were set to begin development on a fourth Spider-Man film. She revealed that more Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland and set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be developed and that the fourth Spider-Man film would be the first in a new trilogy.[4]
On December 18, 2021, Kevin Feige officially confirmed that a fourth Spider-Man film was in active development.[32]
On December 21, 2022, Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group chairman and CEO Tom Rothman confirmed that the film was still in development.[33]
On February 14, 2023, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Feige revealed that the film's story had been completed and that writers were beginning to pen the film's script.[34]
On May 31, 2023, in an interview with Variety, Amy Pascal revealed that the development of the film had been paused due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike and that the film would resume development after the strike was resolved.[35]
On July 19, 2024, in an interview with io9, Kevin Feige revealed that the film's writers would be delivering a draft of the film's script "relatively soon".[36] The next day, in an interview with CinemaBlend, Feige revealed that Jon Watts would likely not be returning to direct the film due to his busy schedule.[37]
On September 9, 2024, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Destin Daniel Cretton would be directing the film and that Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers would be writing the film's script. It was also stated that the film was expected to begin production in early 2025.[1]
On October 22, 2024, during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Tom Holland revealed that the film would begin production in Summer 2025.[38]
On October 25, 2024, Variety reported that the film would be released on July 24, 2026.[39] That same day, Sony Pictures confirmed the release date.[40]
On February 18, 2025, Deadline revealed that Zendaya would be reprising her role as Michelle Jones in the film.[6]
On February 21, 2025, Deadline reported that the film had been pushed back a week from its initial release date to July 31, 2026.[3]

On March 31, 2025, at CinemaCon 2025, Sony Pictures revealed that the film was titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day.[41]

On August 1, 2025, the film began production in Glasgow, Scotland. Michael Giacchino retweeted a promotional video released by Sony Pictures to commemorate the beginning of the film's production, which featured his score.[2] That same day, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Mark Ruffalo would be reprising his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk in the film and reported that Michael Mando would be reprising his role as Mac Gargan in the film.[5]
On August 20, 2025, Variety reported that Tramell Tillman had joined the cast of the film in an undisclosed role.[11]
On September 19, 2025, the production of the film was halted after Tom Holland and a stunt double were hospitalized after a stunt went wrong, with the former being treated for a mild concussion. As a result, Holland took a break out of precaution.[43][44] Three days later, Deadline reported that the production of the film would be paused for a week due to the Holland's injury as it wasn't possible to shoot around him.[45]
On September 23, 2025, Deadline reported that Marvin Jones III had joined the cast of the film and that he would portray Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone.[8]
On December 7, 2025, it was reported that the film had wrapped production.[46]
